Can’t scan IDs or read them through NFC. Used to work perfectly; going to try a different app.

Attempted to read a United States passport and a NEXUS card with ReadIDMe . Scanned the picture page successfully, never was able to read the NFC chip. Removed case, no change. Rebooted iPhone 15 Pro Max, restarted app and now camera never came on to take a picture of the document.

Camera works fine, phone recognizes other NFC devices like the silly poker chip from Identiverse’s scavenger hunt and yubikey.

ReadIDMe just doesn’t work. Not a good experience if we’re going to try to rely on this for identity verification.

It doesn’t work worth a lick. No matter where I place the passport, it won’t read. Deleted.

Sorry I just couldn’t get past license being misspelled on the set-up screen. Failed to get my trust on that one.

It read the info under picture, but that was all it did. It never read the chip. Seems like a pointless app.

I am using an iPhone 11 Pro, running iOS 13.3. I travel internationally half dozen times each year on my US Passport. ReadIDMe reads my personal info, but chip scanning fails.
Wish it would have worked, but to me, it is useless.

Can’t even scan the document properly. It say “get closer” and then when it’s too close, it says “document out of focus”, then the loop repeats endlessly. iPhone 13 mini, tried on Personal ID and Driver License.

What’s the point of ReadIDMe? It doesn’t save the info anywhere. So it can read my passport... what value does that have to me?

Worked once for reading my passport rfid but then never again. The instructions are somewhat contradictory; it clearly says to not move while trying to read the chip, then in another place it says to move slowly up and down.

Right after scanning when you press Next it resets the whole thing. Can't look at the information for more than a few seconds. 2/5 at most

My passport is issued by Bangladesh govt, while scanning, i get an error saying "FAILED - could not build a chain to a trust anchor." What could be the reason?

Scanned the image of my passport fine. I followed directions and even used another app to ensure my NFC reader is active on my phone. Running iOS 16.6 - iPhone 13 mini. Have yet to have it read once. Even removed the case on my phone, thinking that had something to do with it. Nada. Zip.

UPDATE - I actually read that someone said to slowly move the phone around. This did work after the third try. So, now it seems I can get it to scan sporadically. But thats something!

Finally an iOS compatible app that actually reads a US passport. It’s tricky when you scan the RFID chip since you have to position the top of the phone exactly around the center of the passport’s back cover. Also, make sure the passport booklet is open, otherwise the cover’s material will block the signal. It’s a security feature built into the passport. I do hope my data can be downloaded into a text file, instead of view only. Also, I tried on two genuine passports. One was issued about 4 years ago, and it shows data authentic and country signer as “SUCCEEDED found a chain to a trust anchor”. The other passport was issued about 3 months ago, and it shows as authenticity not validated, due to the country signer as FAILED. I know for a fact both passports are real, why is the new passport won’t pass authenticity check? Is it because the passport is too new, and the RSA encryption is different? I’m not aware of a security update to US passports in the past 4 years. Can someone explain? Thanks!

I am getting failed verification on some Uruguayan passports but not others. Does ReadID have the country signature file to verify Uruguay? Why would only some passports fail?

This amazing app should be widely used in Iraq because of the huge number of police check points everywhere

So struggle to get it to work at first cause I didn’t hold my phone in the right spot.
Remove case then hold the top of your phone to the back page slightly above the barcode.

If you’ve accidentally washed your passport like I have then ReadIDMe will help you! I washed my passport but the physical appearance and everything else looked fine but was worried about the RFID chip. ReadIDMe helped me check whether it was working or not. The chip worked and I was able to smoothly fly to my vacation. ReadIDMe needs to be marketed on Reddit boards and TripAdvisor pages since accidentally washing your passport seems to happen more often than you think…

Chip authenticity said clone detection not supported by this document. Does this mean my chip isn’t working?

I recently updated my passport. This passport has a black-and-white photograph on a plastic card and a color photo on the signature page. For this version, the chip is in the back page, the one with a barcode. This combination takes about 5 seconds to read chip data.

It took less than 5 minutes to download, install and use! Thank you.

I washed my passport right before a trip to Cabo and the closest appointment to get a new passport would have been an 8hr drive. Thank god I found ReadIDMe, I used it and the moment of truth was today as I checked in and everything worked! 🙌🏼

This is a good app👍but why I can’t read my green card(US)?🤔

Antigua and Barbuda passport can‘t be recognized well， Authenticity not validated.

It worked with my Italian passport but my Argentine passport chip expiration date didn’t match the passport. It was only valid for 3 years but my passport is valid for 10 years. Should I be concerned? The passports are fairly new: 2021 and 2019 for the one with the problem.

It works but had to doing it horizontally during scanning my passport. I wish there was function to copy and paste the data.

Many passports have more information stored that this application can access (fingerprints, iris scans) but does not display. Please include this in a future update.

Its shows the certificate info on the chip, allowing you to verify this with the US Dept. to insure you have a real passport and not a fake.

It works. Just need to play around until you find the sweet spot where the chip matches your reader. Beware you might need to rotate your phone to be able to match.
After I saw my data on ReadIDMe , honestly I felt vulnerable. I read the privacy statement on the developer website and they claim they don’t store the data, which is great.
Overall this is a cool app. I can see a lot of use for it for various projects. The world is moving towards contactless tech so ReadIDMe has potentials. Please don’t store the data though haha :)

I tried three other passport chip apps and this is the only one that worked.
