Works wonderfully for audiobook libraries. Apple seems to have abandoned this space and confines its Books app to a computer’s boot drive. This means you have to keep your library small. Prologue solves this issue. Would pay a subscription or large fee if it could stream audio and audiobooks to my Apple Watch. Side loading would work, too. Audible kind of side loads, but it’s not reliable. Audible does not stream or offer direct downloads. Apple will stream and offer direct downloads, but what about the hundreds of books I have outside the closed universes of Apple and Audible?

It does what you need it to do most of the time. Honestly, it was perfect for me until I started using some of the premium features. Sometimes, for downloaded books, one track in the book won't play at all. I just got through a book with over 100 tracks inside and only 2 of them refused to play, so it's not very common. Also, I cannot for the life of me figure out how to make collections for books. It's not a huge deal, but it's an advertised premium feature, so I was looking forward to using it to organize my collection.

This app is better than audible or the plex app by far. The embedded chapters and bookmark features work really well. I’m disappointed with Audible on how very few books have titled chapters. With this app, however, I can take actually title my own books. Before finding this app, I always had doubts on whether my friends and family could easily use Plex for audiobooks. You had to know where to click on an audiobook to actually resume it. And for audiobooks with multiple files? Forget ever trying to resume your spot In an audiobook if you even thought about playing other media. I could live with all of those shortcomings, but I’ve always had the thought in the back of my mind that some of my family and friends would do better sticking with Audible. All those pain points are no longer a thing, and I can recommend using audiobooks with Plex now, thanks to this app.
Also, the developer has been super responsive. I can tell that continuous improvement is important to him, and this gives me confidence in this app. Can’t say the same about Plex’s support for audiobooks (don’t get me wrong, I love Plex for movies and tv shows).
