Much enjoy, need more... (note: review temporarily changed until issues get fixed)

(Until this game gets a data-sync option or something similar, my review will not go back to its original score. Athena has already accidentally erased my progress twice, and I don’t really see a point in continuing until this gets fixed.)

The controls are spot on for a paint-by-numbers title, and I just love how all the drawings come together at the end to complete the island. I do have a couple of criticisms, though; maybe add a button to toggle between Move and Fast-paint, as well as some way to de-color any squares that were accidentally painted the wrong color. Even though they’re easily fixed, they tend to blend in with an already-filled background (especially if it’s dark.)

What kinds of islands will we see from you in the future? More earth-like (Chinese, Pyramids, Tropical, Outback, Casino, Amusement Park, Stone Age, Europe) or more fantastical (Atlantis, Halloween, Greek Myth, Storybook, Food, Music, Dragons, Nonsense, Magic)?

Very unhappy terrible tech support

I loved this game very much. The hours I spent coloring the pixels reminded me very much of old school digital art. The problem I have and the reason that I gave a 1 star is that I was constantly having technical difficulties with the game and I could never reach support.

No one ever answered the in game support chat and the only other way through Facebook. Well, I am one of those people that doesn’t have Facebook nor do I plan on getting it, especially to get technical support for a phone game. This led me to sadly delete the game since I ran into a game breaking bug in which the game would not let me move on to the next area to color because the game claimed that I had not completed the parameters needed to unlock it even though I had.

I have also had numerous other bugs involving an object not being considered colored by the game even though it was. Unfortunately, since the game doesn’t save your account when I reinstalled the game again I had lost all of my progress and would have had to start coloring everything from the beginning. This has made me sad since I put a lot of time into coloring and I enjoyed the game.

In all if I could give this game a negative star review I would for the technical support. Even if this game gets fixed I’m not sure I will ever redownload it or anything from this developer again.

Problems with the events

The game itself is awesome but I’m not sure their events are worth it since they are short. 1. Event currency is quite limited and earning them requires you to fill in so many spaces. So far I’ve only gotten one per each time I’ve got the event currency. 2. The multiplier is limited for it too for some reason you can only watch an ad once to multiply the event currency then you have to wait until the timer runs out (it’s like 4 hours long). Only the event stuff does ads like this usually you can multiply any time it comes up and there’s ads available. 3. The event images only give coins which while helpful to get the images that aren’t event images it’s quite unhelpful for actually being the currency since you only get 1 most of the time if you can’t get 2 with an ad. And you have to use your event currency to even start the event. In my opinion if you actually want to finish the events you’d need to both wait since the prizes for coloring 2000 squares refreshes every like hour to get one back and 4 hours to regain all 4 and possibly even spend money since the ad things 4 hours so you can only get 2 every time you finish up to all 4 and all 4 refreshes. You’d also probably need to lack sleep in order to get enough to try and finish the event. Otherwise if you only do event stuff because you end up getting the currency and don’t care about completing it then it’s fun.

Fun but…

Fun coloring game. Color a world one piece at a time. Nice to watch it develop. That said, the massive amount of commercials are enough to make you want to smash your tablet over your head! Starting a picture? Watch a commercial. Done coloring that picture? Watch a commercial! Done watching that commercial? Watch a commercial! When did watching commercials become such a huge part of playing games? It’s at a point where commercial-watching time is almost as long as gameplay time, and some “games” are about 95% commercial-watching. Ridiculous! If you walk away during a commercial because … REAL LIFE … it gives you another commercial when you get back! The whole commercial punishment system that so many games rely on these days. “We’ll downright annoy you with commercials until you buy a subscription!” No thanks. After about 3 commercials, I just switch to another game.

WAY too many ads

Dont get me wrong, this is a super fun game. I’m determined to finish it in its entirety (including all of the challenge modes). However, this game has one fatal flaw; literally a ton of ads. Theres one when you start a coloring, one when you finish, one when you switch islands, and one if you leave ColorIsland for more than 5 seconds. I mean I get it, gotta make your money somehow, but the fact that in order to get rid of the ads you have to pay a SUBSCRIPTION FEE FOR EITHER A MONTH OR A WEEK is ridiculous. I’d 100% pay a one time fee of like 5-7 dollars to get rid of ads, but I am not going to pay a subscription for a game I may or may not be playing in a few weeks, especially when theyre charging $3 for a week. Like I said, fun game, but these ads are going to be the death of me

Game won’t open up

The game is incredible and the only complaints i have is that its no longer launching on my phone, I’ve had the game for a few months and after the last update ColorIsland is no longer launching. It shows the loading bar and stops after two bars are left, afterwards it shows a blue screen, no buttons or island map, just a blue screen. I’m not sure if ColorIsland is glitched or if it’s a malfunction due to the last update, but it would be appreciated if you could fix it. The next would be that every time that you temporarily leave ColorIsland to answer a text, shut the phone off for a few seconds, etc. an ad will play every single time, I understand that ads are a use of advertise and raise awareness to people, but after so long it gets extremely annoying.
Other than those, a great game and I hope you continue to improve it.

Great game Infuriating bugs

This game is really good and is what it says it is. The issue is you can’t always play the game without experiencing some issues. They can be as simple as small lag spikes to something as big as wiping your save data and sending you right back to the start (this has happened twice). There a three big issues with the game. Firstly, the bug that erases your progress. Then there’s the constant lag spikes that may make you wait for a few seconds, wait for 30 seconds, crash the game and force a reload (which has the chance to make you lose some progress on your current drawing or cause the bug or whatever it is that erases your save). I think these lag spikes may occur when a new banner ad loads at the bottom of the screen. Lastly, the game will drain your battery quickly (I’d recommend adding a battery saver feature of some sort if possible). I would like to Finnish this off by saying that my phone is not very old and has had no trouble loading/processing everything I’ve thrown at it before. I’ve also seen other people complaining about these issues in reviews, so I know it’s not just me. I really do hope this game gets fixed because it is a good game.

Great. Just needs some polish

I think I need to uninstall ColorIsland since I can’t play it without get nauseous and getting a headache but I know that’s bc of my photosensitivity. High contrast grid patterns like the number grid have a tendency to make me sick and for some reason this game in particular does though other color by number games haven’t. But if you aren’t photosensitive in this particular manner it’s a good game. Simple UI, interesting concept of finishing world by coloring the pieces that make it up, and not too excessive with ads. There are some cons. The daily rewards are definitely exclusive to people with enough time on their hands but that’s expected for these games. Other people have experienced a multitude of bugs and lag (but personally I haven’t). Sometimes the graphic style of one piece is wildly different from another in the same world which I find off putting. But overall it’s a solid and relaxing color by numbers game.

Great game, has bugs though...

I have been playing this game non stop since downloading it, I colored all of the things on the first island and was loving the game. That was until I went to the next island, after the first couple of levels of coloring I got to a large picture to color. I had made it about halfway through the picture when I decided to use a bomb power up. Big mistake. The bomb happened and the game froze, when I re loaded the game, not only did the bomb power up go away, so did all of the progress I made on the picture. Very bummed out I tried again, only to be met with freezing. I see that two weeks ago there was a patch for older phones( ie. iPhone 5, I am using an IPhone 7 so I’m not sure what’s wrong. I loved the game when it functioned. I can’t even make it to a level anymore before it crashes. Hope there is a fix!

Great Game!

Honestly, they did a great job here. The ads aren’t that annoying and I haven’t, and don’t feel any need to, spend any money. The concept is awesome, the look is great and the time it takes to finish one isn’t too short or too long. The daily pictures keep it fresh.

Now, and I hope the devs listen to this and update it, there is one thing that annoys me to no end. When you push the button in the bottom left corner to find the next box to color it should not change your zoom. I should be able to lock in my zoom. I would pay for the premium if I could stop zooming in every time I hit that button.

Not everyone will be bothered by this, nor does it stop me from playing, but it would make this game 100 times better if they changed this. Still love the game though, thanks for making it!

One major flaw

I love this game. Obviously it has its problems as all games do. Lag spikes are a common one but the game tries to do a lot at once so these spikes are understandable and often just takes a few seconds of waiting. My biggest problem with this game is the ads. Now it’s a free game therefore ads are expected. The ads aren’t even that often and are reasonably built into the game’s system (like watching an ad for a color bomb) but the ads themselves are the problem. The ads that play are annoying and should be checked by the devs. Every single ad I’ve gotten in this game, it is literally impossible to hit the x button. It’s so small and I’m honestly convinced it doesn’t actually do anything. I’m stuck on playing in airplane mode or re-launching the game once or twice after every ad. I love this game and as it’s a free game, so ads are perfectly fine to have but please for the love of everything let me exit out of the ad without re-launching.

Great but a few things are making me mad

Hi, I just real quickly want to say something you should fix about the game. Don’t get me wrong it’s a great game it is really fun and relaxing and I pick my phone up a lot just to play it and it’s pretty addictive I play it a lot and I really enjoy it but I just want you to know when you have colored all the fun stuff like the bunny and the home you will end up with a bunch of bushes for us to color and they all have the same colors and they look the same the only good thing is that some of them will give you up to 15 🙂 but it is not fun to sit there for 40 minutes just to color a bush I mean it’s kinda silly to just sit there and color a bush the other thing is that the extra platforms are all the same they are like just making a copy of one thing with this one little difference. I hope you think about this and make some changes in the next update because I don’t want to be coloring bushes and platforms any more

Love the app, but...

I’m in love with ColorIsland. Super fun to color and build your land! But.... I’d really like if they made it so you can put items where you want. For example, I was done coloring the bunny, but it puts it where it was programmed to put it, But I would like if I could put my colored creations where I want to put them. And I’d also like if you can color them whatever color you want, It is a color by number... but I’d like to make the colors into the way I would color it.

Overall tho, ColorIsland is amazing! The adds don’t come in too much which is great, And I really love coloring apps! So I would rate it four stars, I would really like to use my own colors and be able to put the colorings where I want to put them.

Really like overall, just one issue

I really like the game so far and I think creating a land to color is a unique concept that I enjoy a lot! I think my only complaint is that when I hold my thumb down to do continuous coloring, I either have to hold down my thumb really hard or for a long time for the game to register that’s what I’m doing, otherwise it just thinks I’m trying to move the picture around. Granted I play another pixel color game as well and maybe I’m just more used to how light I have to touch on that one. But I think looking into that for a future update would be cool, it does get a little annoying having the game thinking I’m wanting to move the picture half the time when I try to color continuously. Otherwise I really enjoy it :)

Love this game!

This game is my number 1! I usually delete games a few weeks after getting them but I’ve had this one forever. The levels are so cool and I like having themed “worlds.” This aspect makes this game unlike any other pixel coloring game. The pixel art is wonderfully designed and ranges from easy pixels and harder pixels. The ads on the game aren’t a hinder to the gameplay as well, which is a HUGE bonus. So many games nowadays have ads every 3 minutes, but I can actually play this game for a long time without encountering an ad I didn’t specifically click on (to get double coins). I am super excited to see what levels you come out with next, there’s so many options you could do! I personally love the food pixel art so it would be cool to have a food world/ chef world. Thanks for making such a great game!

Fabulous ✨

I’ve been looking for a good color by number game that wasn’t too tedious or annoying to try and complete and this is the best one i’ve ever found. Not only are the ads totally accurate (unlike most games nowadays), the game is really fun! You get to make a whole island of stuff you paint! The colors once they’re filled in properly cannot be colored back over and messed up so being messy with the coloring isn’t an issue! It’ll take you to the pixels you’re missing so there’s no aimlessly searching for the 2 missing pixels like other games. The things you color aren’t extremely crazy or hard to do either! All the run ins with the pop up ads on this game also haven’t been too bad. Nothing like others where you can’t do anything without an ad first. Overall. Great game. If I wasn’t broke i’d go premium too to support the game makers. Quality stuff here. Definitely recommend.

One of my favorites of all time!!!

I love this game. Unlike other pixel coloring apps, this one actually rewards you and you can see the progress you’ve made as you complete worlds. There are even daily quests that you can complete to get more coins. It’s fun seeing how the worlds look when you complete them and the coins keep you from finishing the game too fast so the pacing is good too.

My only complaint is that I want more! More worlds, more events, and more variety in daily images. Also a notification when an event starts would be nice since I sometimes take time off from using it. I know how much work that my requests take though, so I don’t feel like the devs deserve to lose a star. Keep it up!

Completely amazing

Everything in this game ends up too satisfying, addicting and beautiful. I love how when you finish the first island, the result looks so good! And I looked at a few reviews that say there’s bugs and lags. There are no bugs for me though. (Maybe it’s because my device can handle it) there are not that much ads, it lasts a really long time and it’s awesome. The creators of this game are really creative. There’s something that could be added to the game that I just came up with. (It’s just for fun. It’s not needed but, just a little suggestion) right next to special lands button, there could be a bonus land button. Where you can make your own pictures out of the pixels! You could choose how big the platform, pixels and the picture. You could get creative. Anyways, this game is absolutely the best I hope you think about this suggestion. Bye!

Not your average pixel colorer!

Okay I literally never leave reviews, but this game is so immensely clever, I felt like I had to. I’ve tried a billion different color-by-number type games of all kinds, and they’re fun for a while, but usually the ads get too annoying or I just get generally bored—that’s where this one is different. I love that there is an actual completion aspect to this game! Seeing the pictures you’ve colored appear in the overall scene is incredibly interesting, and fills my little goal-oriented heart with joy. It’s such a clever little twist to a genre that is honestly overrun with the exact same re-skinned app over and over again. The ads are also completely tolerable as well and don’t get in the way of gameplay, so I love ColorIsland!

Absolutely amazing!! 🤩

The game is so fun and relaxing. It has amazing events and the best part is completely free. The fact that a game like this is free. It’s absolutely amazing and the graphics are gorgeous. I love this game because it is so relaxing and stress relieving it is one of my favorite games definitely you should definitely download it. It is the best game ever. I love this game so so much and so should you and there’s not that many ads either! I would definitely recommend downloading this game and there are so many different worlds and maps that you can explore. It is so fun to watch your island grow and become what it is.

With Love, Harper O.
