About Merge Explorer

Students can learn science effectively with over 100 science simulations they can touch, hold and interact with! Merge Explorer (along with a Merge Cube) allows students to investigate a smoking volcano in the palm of their hand, examine a great white shark up close, hold and explore the solar system, dissect a frog (humanely!), and so much more.

Merge Explorer includes NGSS-aligned topics for K-8th grade, like Physical Science, Life Science, and Earth & Space Science.

With easy-to-follow activities and built-in quizzes, students gain key knowledge while immersed in learning, both in the classroom or while remote learning at home.

Not there yet for remote teaching.

I just downloaded the latest update hoping they fixed a few of the things I think would improve MergeExplorer . I’m a STEM teacher teaching elementary school students on an iPhone 11 Pro Max and MergeExplorer still has trouble recognizing the cube in good light from 2 feet. My biggest issue is that I would like a way to share the experience with my students who are stuck at home with the rest of the country. There is no way to record this experience without an additional device. I tried screen recording but it only records the cube not the overlay. Also, when you turn the device to horizontal on some sections like the water cycle the words appear sideways. On the same section when you advance using next, “evaporation” appears but on the next advance all three appear instead of one at a time. Evaporation is not visible on the home screen of the water section only the other three. It would be an awesome tool if the developers took into account the fact that most of us using this right now have no one to share it with. At least, let us record the screen. Thanks for your consideration.

Challenging to use during distance learning

I really wanted to love MergeExplorer. It makes my phone really hot while it’s running. Most of the time the screen freezes, it’s very hard to share with the kids at home, and the whole app will often crash. I did record my screen while showing the cube, but it doesn’t record your voice showing it so it’s a silent video. Not ideal for second graders. Of course your free trial is attached to an automatic subscription that I’m now stuck with for another month. What a waste of $10. Content is awesome if it would be more user friendly and work without crashing.

Making NGSS a Reality

MERGE Explorer is one of the few tools apart from textbook resources that has set out to align with NGSS from the outset. As more states move to NGSS science curriculum, it is important to provide opportunities for students to interact with the content in creative ways.

MERGE Explorer is easy to navigate and instantly engages even the most reluctant student. New content is continually being developed and added to the platform to address a variety of scientific topics. Expect more great things to come from MERGE in the near future!

Future of Education

Inspiring imagination while introducing educational information is always a struggle in the classroom but MergeExplorer achieves that!

Great use of augmented reality for the purpose of learning and stimulating curiosity. Every person I show this to is blown away. A must for every child and/or adult who wants to dip their toes into what the future holds with technology.

Great app for STEM learning

If you have a Merge Cube, which is required for MergeExplorer, MergeExplorer is a fantastic tool for teaching kids. They really engage with it, it’s a lot of fun, and the kids absorb the material. My one critique is that I’m looking forward to seeing more content. I hear that a lot more is on the way

Great app for virtual learning!

MergeExplorer and product has SO many hands on activities and engaging activities for learners of ALL ages and across all subjects! The activities are fun to do and the content is very helpful and resourceful.

Soooooooo fun.

This is first time I feel enjoyed to learn knowledge. Much batter than the books and google.

Reset Quiz

The activities are great but I wish that there was a way to reset the quizzes especially for use with class sets of devices. Once one child completes the quiz it is done for everyone else.

Studying

It’s so easy to use and helps you study

Good app but crashing on iPad

Wonderful app. Awesome for teaching but crashing, on iPad Air with iOS 12.5.5, while MergeExplorer loads. Can this be resolved?

We need this

I like all the merge cube games and apps but I want more. I want to make my own. Can you please make a app that allows you to code and make your own games for the merge cube? That would be the best thing ever!!! Also I don’t like learning.

Great for Remote Learning!

There are a lot of free activities open even without the free trial, which I was able to share with my students by connecting my phone to my PC and sharing the screen through Zoom or uploading a video recording through Seesaw (I had to Google how to record my iPhone screen with audio, but it works great). Several of my students had compatible devices at home that worked really well with the paper cube printout - I just had to instruct them to ‘SKIP’ the free trial and go straight to the free content. So far the anatomy activity “Mr. Body” and the ecosystems activity “The Food Web” have been big hits!
