ReceiptJar Reviews

This is absolutely the worst receipt app out there. I know because I run several. I have deleted this one now because it doesn’t accept 90% of receipts submitted. It is really ridiculous. The receipts that get rejected are always rejected because of the background not because they are blurry or anything like that. I just don’t like wasting my time submitting clear and readable receipts that just get rejected after waiting days for them to finally get reviewed. I would rate ReceiptJar a -star if I could because it is pure trash and a waste of time when there are Legitimate receipt uploading apps out there. Save your time and energy and go with more legitimate apps like cashout or fetch. At least those apps have fair practices.

I went to cash out because I finally made it to the 1,000 point mark. Well they say they are going to take ten days to review the receipts after already giving you the points, which is fine but also not cause I’ve seen other reviews with the same problem, they will say that you’ve been uploading someone else’s receipts. I’ve never uploaded anyone’s receipts but my own and occasionally my husbands which is says you can upload your spouses and your kids under 18, so it took me 6 months to be able to “cash out” just to be met with this. Horrible. I use two other apps for this purpose and cash out with no problems.

I have a big family and I have a lot of receipts which I did login I go in tonight to go and except the gift card so I could use it towards Christmas which is only like five or 10 bucks because it you you don’t really get a lot of money on here it takes forever to get anything and now they suspended my account for no reason it didn’t give me no warning nothing just suspended me so now all of the receipts that I used, I won’t ever be able to collect any money for him and I think that’s a bunch of crap. They are very rude and all their there and I don’t even ask you anything they just and now obviously this is how they treat people he not recommend this at app if you want to collect use other user friendly ones which I won’t name but at least they don’t judge you assume stuff that’s not true or even ask you before they after all the receipts that you gave them I’m starting to one of those scammer apps careful out there people if you load this I’ll never trust it again

I wanted to give ReceiptJar a try, might or might not be a scam. It signed me out. I tried signing in… I even reset. still nothing… 1 star… could be a scam. 2nd app doing the same thing. I give up. I’m not worried 8 other app still work perfectly but not this one. I’m thinking it might’ve suspended me or deactivated me 🤷🏻♀️ if I did something wrong why not just put 2 scanned receipt 2 or 3 times just to tell me & don’t past it as a scan Even though I try not to rescan same copy done receipts say it’s the same when it’s another store or didn’t have the name. Sometimes it passes it or mostly it doesn’t so I give it up quickly because it’s just an app. Other apps let me know it’s a copy & won’t go through. That easy.

I just downloaded ReceiptJar two days ago and it’s already been a pain. I’ve noticed multiple glitches in the system plus I did not receive the correct amount of points on several receipts for the amount of money spent. They also keep mentioning not “gaming the system” as a sneaky way to get rewards by using other people’s receipts, trying to resubmit the same receipts,or submitting multiple receipts (more than 3 per day) and that your account will be blocked if you do this. I’ve been honest and submitted my own receipts, but I work retail so if I tried to submit more than 3 receipts per day for items I paid for, I wouldn’t appreciate a cash back app of accusing me of being dishonest. Also it’s easy to accidentally submit the same receipt without meaning to. Obviously the system would just let you know. It doesn’t mean the individual was trying to be shady. I just wouldn’t recommend this receipt app!

What’s going on? Receipt Jar has been an app that I’ve been using for awhile. 8-12 months maybe? Today I went to snap photos of my receipts and a window popped up saying “not available in your country”. Since when? Why? Have they collected enough data for the experiment? Call me a conspiracy theorist if you want to ….. but this seems very suspicious to me.
The U Group and Company(transparency they claim) are simply a data collecting company with three employees . Their goal is simply to collect data . On people?!. On products?!. On countries?!.
Then out of nowhere it’s no longer available in my country.? What about my points collected? That evidently I paid a high price for with my data /information? Now I’m so easily dismissed?
I don’t like it! Something seems off, weird, dishonest or mis-represented.

So I just uploaded some receipts and receive a pop up that says, starting in August you have to connect your email in order to redeem your points. First of all, this is ridiculous and no reason whatsoever you need access to my personal email account. But like an idiot, I still attempted to connect my email but got an unable response and it say’s probably because Yahoo doesn’t allow some password thing. So because Yahoo won’t allow me to connect my email, I won’t be able to redeem my points. I don’t blame Yahoo because they are keeping their customers email accounts safe. As of August, I will be deleting ReceiptJar because I am unable to connect my email. Also, out of all the receipt apps I have, this one would give me anxiety when ever I had to upload receipts because the receipt upload process takes so long. Like you need to have a lot of time on your hands to sit and wait for each receipt to upload. Every other receipt app, the receipt uploads instantly. So after I use up my points, I’m deleting this useless app. Why they need access to your email account, is absolutely mind boggling.

Why aren’t any of my receipts scanning?? It’s been like this for the past few days. The receipts are mine, the pictures I take aren’t blurry, and the receipts are hardly wrinkled. What is the problem? I have a pretty long receipt and it was taking forever to scan so I started over and again, it was taking forever to scan. So I left for like 10+ minutes, came back and not one picture of the receipt had been scanned. This is beyond ridiculous. Literally no other receipt app I use has this issue. I’m thinking of just cashing out my five little dollars and deleting ReceiptJar .

I been using ReceiptJar for years and lately, I don’t know what is going on, ReceiptJar just kept crashing. It starts to load and about 10 second into loading , it crashes. This been going on for a few weeks now. Even when I take a photo of receipt, before it finish loading , it crashes too, everything I do it crashes within 10 seconds. I have deleted app and re-installed ReceiptJar , checked for updates, rebooted my phone (iPhone 14 running on ISO 17.4.1), none worked. App still crashes when trying to use. Anyone else is having this problem? I ended up having to sign in on an old phone in order to use app properly and it is becoming an inconvenient.

I’ve been uploading receipts every week without fail since August 7 (it’s now February 4) and I have yet to earn one of their “golden jars.” I’ve only received one “shake” and I should’ve already received 6. I’ve emailed 4 times about the issue and it still isn’t fixed. She asked for a screenshot of my shake page on 11/9, I sent it, and she said she would forward it to the “tech team.” I messaged them again a couple of weeks later and she responded “Will follow up the issue again.” (sic)
And again, I contacted them 2/1, stating the issue STILL isn’t fixed, she asked what level I’m in, I told her 10, and STILL nothing.

I’ve been using ReceiptJar for a year and a half and it’s been a breeze. I recently have been running into an issue with my account not synching with instacart. It will pull the receipts from my email but deny me points because they want receipts sourced from the instacart app. I’ve signed out and signed back in, I’ve deleted and redownloaded ReceiptJar , I’ve tried all the things within my ability to resolve this issue. I’ve reported this issue twice and I’ve been informed that it’s being worked on but it’s been a couple months with no updates and I’m missing out on points until it’s resolved which has been frustrating as I use instacart weekly.

I can't change my email address for one. App disconnected automatically disconnected from Walmart so they weren't linked any longer and won't let me re-connect to link them again. Numerous emails to them go unanswered as they reply to old email although I have repeatedly notified them to communicate to my active email. They advised me to delete account and START OVER! After a year of earning receipt jar "Shakes" and building up of Levels their answer was to start over. Not so great. Very picky about receipts compared to many other apps that accrue quicker and less particularly. Spend your time using other apps. Too many difficulties communicating, corresponding, earning points and levels to be disregarded for an app that doesn't do what it is supposed to.

My only issues are as follows. If you have multiple receipts from the same retailer, it’s counted as one and you get a points average unless you wait a long time between each submission. Along with that, if you delete one receipt, you delete the whole stack. Which is pretty annoying and you’d think “Well I’ll just reupload it”, well you’d be wrong because it gets flagged from the system thinking that you have submitted it already or you’re trying to cheat. My final problem is that there’s no easy way to submit a request anymore. Sure they have a spot to submit a request, but once you type in your email and hit submit, nothing happens and you can’t hit that submit button again unless you refresh the screen. It does the same thing on Safari as it does through ReceiptJar . I’m really thinking about just redeeming my points and deleting ReceiptJar forever. With those problems, they make it harder to earn points to get any form of reward, so I’m definitely thinking about quitting ReceiptJar.

I want to start off by saying that ReceiptJar is actually legit — it really does pay you. I’ve been using ReceiptJar for about 5 weeks. However, the reason I call it a “scam app” is because the pay is not worth it. I’ll explain.
Even though ReceiptJar does pay you, the money you get is not a lot. The reason ReceiptJar is so popular is because it attracts people with the fact that all they have to do to get some extra cash is upload pictures. Sounds simple, right? Well, yes, but like I said, the pay is not worth it. You have to get a certain amount of points to get rewards such as gift cards. In order to get a sufficient amount of points, you have to upload a lot of receipts. Think about it for a second: in order to get receipts, you have to buy something. So, the amount of money you spent to get those receipts is most likely far more than the reward.
For example, let’s say you have two receipts that add up to a total of $500. Even though you paid a lot for those, ReceiptJar still only counts it as 2 receipts. So you still have to upload a lot more receipts to get a small reward.
So, in other words, ReceiptJar scams people with a simple phrase: “turn receipts into cash”

ReceiptJar was fine at first. There’s a couple of issues I recently started having. At first, you’re not allowed to receipt split. Which means if you go to target and make a purchase and then decide to get a pretzel from their cafe, it will only count as one transaction. Even though you don’t have the option to buy your items and snack at the same time. Also, if you used your credit card for your purchase and then cash for the pretzel, it will still see it as one purchase instead of two. The next issue is I’ve been trying to upload my receipts for a couple of days now and each time I click submit to upload it, it takes me to the screen that says “uploading” and then never uploads them. It just stays in that screen. I’ve tried it for almost 5 days now and keep getting the same thing. Now my receipts are about to expire because the update changed the expiration from 14 days to 7.

I’ve used ReceiptJar for years. It’s one of many receipt apps I’ve used/using. I currently use 5 different apps for scanning receipts and receiving rewards. I always wait to use this all last because I never know if it’ll work or keep saying Uploading Receipt. Luckily, if I wait a day and try again, it usually works. This is the only receipt app I have this issue with. Every other app takes the picture and uploads it in a few seconds. Sometimes I’ll set the phone down and the screen will turn off with it still trying to upload receipt. Customer service says it’s because of my network connection, but I’ve used it with 2 bars and it’s worked and I’ve used it with 3 bars and it times out. Clearly an issue on their end, they just don’t want to admit it or fix it. I’ve had this problem with ReceiptJar over the last 2-3 years and with 3 different carriers in various locations. It’s never consistent with when it’ll upload and when it’ll just keep saying uploading. I’ve give higher stars if this issue would get fixed. I still use it and just deal with the frustrations because when it works, it’s great. App developers, please look at Fetch, ReceiptPal, CoinOut, and Frisbee and fix your issues.

I wanted to see which app offered the best rewards and decided to upload ALL the same receipts to Receipt Jar, Receipt Hog and CoinOut to see where I made the most. The results showed that Receipt Hog is the most rewarding of the 3. I had 2014 points (2900=15$) on Hog, 1381 points (1900=10$) on RJ, and 4,850 points (almost 5$) on CoinOut by the end of the experiment. I’d say Fetch and Frisbee have the best rewards but I can’t compare them in the same exact way, as I had different input and time frames with those two. Receipt jar does offer a slot machine style game, called “shakes” that offers bonus points after you reach certain levels. I only actually received 3 points playing shakes. So do what you will with that info.

I recently downloaded ReceiptJar and started using it but according to the points chart receipts of different values earn a different amount of points. I have had to submit tickets for about 6 receipts where I was not given the proper amount of points. Currently missing 40 points. I really want ReceiptJar to work but if I have to submit a ticket for every receipt over $11 bc I didn’t get the proper credit I will be deleting it as it will be a waste of time. Please fix this bug/mistake. Thanks

Started off being pretty good but then started awarding ONLY five points per receipt. I submitted requests numerous times but I’m not seeing where the points have been added.
Because the company sells the information gleaned from the receipts, we may be lining their pockets while they just dribble out their 5-points for each receipt scanned when they say that $10+ and above get higher points
Not sure if they’re doing a bait and switch, fraud, or just don’t care but I sure hope someone looks into it

I have been using ReceiptJar for almost a year now. I’ve been able to successfully cash out a couple times already and got my reward before the 10 day period is even up. But recently I had to report that it was not loading my Walmart purchases from online. And that I tried to disconnect and reconnect with no success. It has not let me reconnect my Walmart for two weeks straight. It with start to load and freeze or it simply kicks back to the connection screen. That will not let me back out to view my receipts or my other connected sites. I still have not been replied to about if this issue is being investigated and fixed for users because I’m sure it isn’t just me. As there has been no recent updates for ReceiptJar I think it’s safe to say it hasn’t been fixed. Once that’s taken care of I have no other issue with ReceiptJar except points seeming a little lower than they had for my receipt values.

There’s a lot of negative reviews but seems to of worked OK for me. You have to upload a lot of receipts for a small amount of money of course but it doesn’t take too long. I just save up my receipts for a week and then do them at once. Actually redeeming the reward is kind of a hassle. There’s so many steps to go through but I did it and it worked. Also, they keep telling me what receipts not to upload. I get, I don’t need to be told again and again and again. And one time they said looks like you’re uploading a receipt that isn’t yours. Well, no, I’m not and I don’t know why you would think that. So that’s also kind of irritating. But overall it’s a pretty good app.

I would rate ReceiptJar a 0 but that’s not an option. When I tried to collect my points for cash, they said my receipts where someone else’s. That’s not true, they are from my house hold. I think this is just their way of not wanting to pay up after they said they would. They also don’t take very many of the recipes like other apps do, and takes forever to get to where you can get enough points to turn into cards to amount to anything, so yes, I’ve wasted A-LOT OF TIME on ReceiptJar.

I've had so much fun with ReceiptJar thus far I racked up enough points to cash out $5 to my PayPal. I was unaware as to how the cash out process went,so I decided to send them an email regarding this particular issue and the immediate response was phenomenal. The support agent that replied to my email was not only kind but told me exactly how to cash out via PayPal and I was able to do just that. Within minutes the money was in my PayPal account. So thanks again to the lovely support agent for all the help you provided me today, your kindness never goes unnoticed!!!! 😘❤️

Response to the developers: I don’t play the lottery because I don’t like constantly losing. *shrug*. That was a terrible analogy ig you were hoping to sway me to a more positive view of the Shake Jars. :-D
I also have Fetch, and I feel like I definitely get to cash in Receipt Jar far more quickly. The one downside to ReceiptJar is their “Shake Jars”—the weekly reward/incentive. You only get one per week and most of the time you get the “you did not win” screen… the couple times I did actually get bonus points out of it, it was only 3 points. Basically, the shake jar, meant to be an incentive, is just a disappointment and they’d be better off getting rid of it.

I have been using the receipt jar app for quite awhile and I find it easy to use and the points to get rewards add up quickly. I have used other apps similar to this but I find ReceiptJar one of the best. I had an issue with the wrong reward and asked them to cancel the reward. They did and sent my reward points back to my account, they were quick in response and completing my request. I have never had any app be so quick to respond and so helpful to help correct my mistake of reward chosen, many apps would not refund points like that and you would be stuck with the wrong chosen reward.

It takes longer to upload one receipt than it does on 5+ other apps COMBINED, multiplied by 10! I seriously dread using ReceiptJar because how ridiculously long it takes to upload receipts. If I choose to use ReceiptJar, it’s always last choice. Really frustrating considering everything else about ReceiptJar is fantastic. FIX THIS WTH ARE YOU DOING?!
EDIT:
Hallelujah! Thank you for listening and doing something about it. Uploading receipts is MUCH quicker! Love ReceiptJar.

I have been using Receipt Jar since March and has built up over 2000 points which I cashed out to PayPal (once in March and the other in April). I hadn’t received my $5 deposit to PayPal either time and left a 2 star review and reached out twice to customer support. In the reply I received, I did not know that they use a third party called Tremendous to handle the payouts. When I followed the link and verified my EMail associated with PayPal I received my funds within 60 seconds. This made an incredible difference in terms to the effort spent redeeming receipts. Thank you customer support and 5⭐️

I recently gave ReceiptJar a one star rating because I had lost all of my points. Upon help from the developers, it was MY fault. I didn’t realize you DO NOT delete your receipts. They managed to locate all of my receipts and credit them to my account. I have since changed my 1 star review to a 5 star! Thanks so much!

I love this cash receipts app, it’s the best . You get coins for every receipt you scan , after earning 1,000 coins you can cash out to your PayPal account or whatever banking account you want for $5 and if you choose you can receive gift cards. I don’t know about you, but cash in the bank is always better. The longer you scan you receipts the more coins you can earn for them. The online receipts earn a little more . Remember all receipts count from wherever. I wish there were more cash receipt apps like this one ☝️
