Like most, I had high hopes for this app. On day one, it blocked 7 robocalls. Gotta love that! But for me, the caveats quickly began to mount.

- Call quality is terrible. Every time anyone called me, I'd have to call them back to be able to eliminate persistent noise and dropouts.

- Calls in the call history no longer display the proper label (e.g., "home," "iPhone," "work," etc.). Instead the label is replaced with "this app." So you have no idea where the person is calling from. That's not trivial. It's often important to know if someone's calling (or called) from home or work, etc. this app removes that information. Bad move.

- Voicemail messages are intercepted and are handled in a very clunky manner within the this app app. I hate it. Furthermore, far too many taps are required to get to the audio playback.

- When calls come in, Firewall 's interface is different from the Phone app, which is disconcerting. And the button to answer calls is blue instead of green, which is just dumb. There's a reason that conventions exist and have become *universal*: Green is for "go," and red is for "stop."

Although I loved having unwanted calls blocked, the caveats are simply too intrusive. So regrettably I've removed this app. It's a great idea in theory, but these issues need to be resolved. Until then, this app falls far short.

I did not like your service, so I got out of the subscription and dialed the appropriate number for my sprint carrier *720 to end the call forwarding, but it still didn’t work. Kept getting text messages from this app saying I am missing calls and that I need to dial *720 again, since I am unsubscribed. I have done this plenty of times already, I emailed customer support with a full explanation of my situation and of my attempts, and all they told me was to dial *720 for sprint to end the call forwarding, seems like they didn’t even read the message.. I’ve missed important calls, such a disappointment, please fix this.

Update: In the end, I was told to contact my carrier to manually disable the call forwarding..

Update: to this day unable to get it fixed. (Months later) Have contacted my carrier multiple times to try to resolve but the issue persists. What the heck did you guys do?

I thought Firewall that got good reviews would be great...but alas I stopped call forwarding and went back to Hiya! Call quality was not good (according to the people I was talking to) and I sounded like I was in a tunnel. Several calls from people that are Favorites on my iPhone didn’t come through so who knows how many other ‘whitelisted’ calls I missed. No option to reply to calls I can’t take with a text message like I do now (I have a job!) Yes, it stopped robo callers which is great but too many bugs at this point to be confident with Firewall and knowing my legit calls are coming through. Sorry...the idea is great but the value isn’t. Maybe keep it totally free until you have all the bugs worked out. I’m hoping I don’t get charged...there’s nothing I could find to cancel!

I installed this app a few weeks ago. I liked it, I recall that; but, I ended up UN-installing this app-just can not recall the exact reason! Regardless, ever since I uninstalled this app, I’ve been experiencing a problem. I have received about 5 or 6 text messages, over time not all at once. I assume they originate from this app Customer service division. They all basically say the same thing & I have followed through with every recommendation from each text. The text says-“I missed a call from (xxx) XXX-XXXX because this app was unreachable.”(Probably because it’s NOT on my iPhone any longer!) Then it goes on to say to call *720 to PERMANENTLY DELETE this app & to un-forward calls to it from my iPhone. Which, I have done SEVERAL TIMES! Apparently, this is NOT working! Can someone help?? I’ll check back to see if anyone from this app answers my questions here! Thank you.

Let me preface this review as " Firewall did not work for me" however, it may work for you? this app blocks any number or SMS (if you set it up) that is not whitelisted. I am a consultant and travel extensively. this app's approach for me is too limiting; for instance, I had to use an SMS text system that randomizes their numbers for each message, which was a nightmare with this app. I could reply to one message and not the other etc. The other problem stemmed from the fact that all calls forwarded through this app's VOIP telephone system, the call quality for me, was inferior, and is not easily switched to a mobile carrier during the call. To my understanding, they are working on it. I felt like I was paying to be a beta tester when using the this app app.

this app is very good for ID-ing robo callers, excellent, in fact. Thank you for a very good job of that portion of your services.

However, this app does not review all telephone numbers listed as authorized entries in my phone contacts list. In other words, all numbers listed with authorized entry in my contacts list - OTHER THAN FAX machine listings, should be allowed to ring thru’. Businesses, medical offices, and some friends who also have business or secondary phone numbers, should be allowed to ring thru’.

Further, I do not understand nor have I discovered the use of the alternate list provided by this app. At first I thought it was for alternative numbers authorized by titled entry as described in the paragraph just above. I quickly learned that apparently is not what the alternative list is for. Please send an explanation as to the correct use of you alternative “whitelist” is for & how to manage that tool.

Firewall works amazingly for robo & telemarketing calla however, I’m missing normal calls too. I keep getting text messages indicating calls that I’ve missed. They don’t show up on my missed calls log either. They do show up on my this app app but only if it’s receiving a WiFi signal.

Also, if I have an incoming call, I can’t send an away text when I am unable to respond. I can either answer or decline the call, that’s it. this app does not provide the option of texting “I’ll call you later” or a custom reply. I didn’t realize how often I use this until I couldn’t.

I truly thought I would love this but now I’m not sure. I don’t think as many calls are coming through that usually have been. But even just now 2-3 times in a row I’ve gotten a call from same number which came thru with no name of who it is therefore I know the Number isn’t in
My Whitelist. It’s been one of the numbers I’ve been trying to stop and not succeeded at getting rid of even with this app. This confuses me. Yesterday I deleted couple numbers that also go through that aren’t in my whitelist. Suddenly here’s once again the other I spoke of in beginning ringing one more for me to hit drcline. Just wondering why nothing stopping it all. Gonna try to add other stuff now to see if will help but not sure if will continue this dubscription.

The person who previously had my number was a manic and signed up for everything under the sun, so I am used to getting 10+ spam calls a day, but I can’t just change my number for work reasons. None of the other apps actually stopped them all, this one does. I’m a little wary of stopping calls from non-spammers who aren’t in my whitelist, but presumably they’ll just go to voicemail and can be contacted right after. -1 star because I have the same issue as another poster, seems not not let you get calls on Apple Watch.

I want to answer with my iPhone but don't want known & unknown spam callers. My contacts say the voicemail on this app is very weird, everyone complains about it. ( I have no idea as I don't call myself) So I have it set to block known callers but not unknown callers. I'd like a setting for Contacts only thru my iPhone. Is that a thing I don't know exists?

I recently download the free trial and was LOVING it!! Even touted it on Facebook to all my friends because I couldn’t believe how wonderful it was (plus, it has a great sense of humor, which I enjoyed). However, today, it just stopped working. I have had a torrent of calls blowing up my phone all day and I don’t know what went wrong. There is no real way for me to check in Firewall so I am at a loss and I am not sure how to contact support about it. Please advise on how to fix this because I REALLY don’t want to delete Firewall!!

Exactly what I’ve needed and wanted to block spam calls!

Adding numbers to the whitelist is easy, but it would be nice to be able to take screened calls and confirm that they are actually spam and therefore should be actively blacklisted and not just blocked because they’re not on the whitelist.

Other than that, I can’t think how they could make Firewall feel better or more native!

I’m very hesitant about downloading any app to my phone without reading reviews, fine print, etc. I took the chance of downloading Firewall after reading positive reviews... I was desperate to find an app to block all of those pesky Robocalls. Well ! I am very pleased to announce that Firewall blocks everything that you don’t have listed in your contact list on your phone. My phone has been so quiet .... except for calls that I do want and know. It also lets you know what numbers are known Robocallers ... scans unknown numbers ... and just scans and blocks everything! I’m on the trial period for using Firewall, but for the very low monthly fee they charge afterwards it is definitely worth it!!!! I recommend everyone download Firewall!

All the features have not been explored yet but am very excited about the ability to block and identify known robocalls as well as the fantastic transcription of messages. Congrats to the developers for such a broad range of services! Thank you so very much for the thoughtfulness, ingenuity and thoroughness which is exhibited very apparently to little skilled individuals such as me! Would greatly appreciate a detailed tutorial .. it’s probably already there and I am too computer illiterate to find it!!!!!

Thank you for giving me back my phone this app- it’s been so nice-not to have to talk to all those annoying telemarketing sales people- so God Bless you! Keep up the funny little quips like not gonna give you up etc it brightens my day!
Also-if you could make a way where I can delete all of the ones in my history list faster that would be awesome!!

Since using this app I have not received any unwanted phone calls!! I only receive calls from my Contacts, if you’re not in my contacts you’re not getting through. People can leave messages but they’re not going to be able to ring through. My life is quiet again! My only small complaint would be a volume issue. I don’t always hear the caller clearly like before. But I’ve learned to deal with it, it’s a good trade off to have for no unwanted calls!

I have had Firewall for some time now. I am not a tech person, at all. I was so bombarded with useless call, so I installed Firewall & four others at the same time frame. (None were the free type). I wanted to see if this “type” of app really worked on useless calls. Out of all I tried Firewall has the most features, easy to use & set up...and most importantly....it WORKS...100% of the time. As far as the monthly fee...I’d rather pay for Firewall to block all the calls & messages than spend my time answering calls/messages that are bogus. It’s definetly a Keeper!

I love absolutely everything about this ap, especially when it lets me know when the call is from a “Known Robo Caller”. Wish I found this ap sooner.
We are about to disconnect our home phone because of all the calls. It is a land line and I wish there was a way to connect this ap to that phone. It would save us the time of calling friends, family, doctors, and other contacts to change our number to one of our cell phones.
Well worth the monthly fee. If I didn’t find this ap, I was considering dropping my cell phone as well, since I average 8 to 10 Tellemarketing calls a day, and at inconvenient times.

I’m still in the trial period, but if it keeps working the way it has been so far it will be worth the 4 bucks! I had to change my number because my phone was blowing up with unknown numbers. I tried 2 other apps and they didn’t do what I wanted. I’m a private person; I don’t want anyone calling me unless I gave them my number. Firewall is a dream! Strange numbers don’t even ring! I have peace and quiet now!

UPDATE: My only complaint is people can’t hear me when I answer the phone. I hear them saying “hello” over and over until one of us hangs up. I immediately call them back. If that’s the only issue, it’s still worth the $4 in my case. I don’t get enough legitimate phone calls for this to be a real problem.

Used to use Robokiller in the past but so many calls ended up coming through but with this app I’ve not had a signal spam call ring my number it’s a godsend! Where I work I’m constantly calling customers and with the option here to call using a temporary number that really makes my life easier. My only issue with Firewall is the call quality it’s far less then a normal call I find myself sometimes declining an incoming call only to call them back using my normal phone app
