LearnSaxophone has helped me learn to play the saxophone as a complete beginner. I finished the beginner course of 27 lessons and now have muscle memory of all the notes. I really enjoy being able to see the music notes on the beginner course but on the intermediate course, they are no longer there. Also all the songs on LearnSaxophone don’t have the note letters which makes it hard for me because I’m still learning how to read music so that means I can’t play anything else other than the beginner course. I would love if they updated all the sheet music to have the option to toggle the note letters. Meanwhile, I’m just going to keep running through the beginner course and keep learning the notes until I can read the music.

I will update to 5 stars if they do this.

It is well designed and could be very helpful. However the available jazz songs are exceptionally limited even in the premium version. Only very old songs that are free everywhere are available. Not worth the price for the premium.
After a little trial and error I also found out that changing the tempo of the song for practicing, which could be very helpful is awful and useless as slowing it down distorted the songs.

The free part is great. And that’s all you need really. I paid for a year and was making good progress and my cachet was cleared for no reason and I lost All of my progress. And now customer service will not reply to any of my emails asking for help.

I love LearnSaxophone! I’m a beginner in learning the alto saxophone so this is a good outlet when you don’t have a teacher lol. It gave me a tuner, how to play beamed notes, and way more. However, when my free trial ended is when my problem began. I would gladly put some money into LearnSaxophone however, I wish there was an option for paying each month rather than for one year or three months. Another way this could be solved is having users pay the amount of money per week first. Or at the very least lowering the price. I would love to continue to use LearnSaxophone if this could happen.

For an app that progressively steps you through some tunes, it’s okay. The feedback is quite poor, though. Sure, if I miss a note, it turns red, but I can hear the off note myself. How is my score a 98.6, for example? Am I out of tune someplace? If so, where? What about my timing, rhythm? LearnSaxophone takes plenty of time at the end of the song, so it must be doing something. Without the specific feedback, how do I know where to focus effort? I am left with . . . play the song better to get a better score. Maybe an optional metronome would be nice.

It’s good but I wish that as you doing the notes it turns green like into the guitar app just so you know when it’s good or not but I like it I recommend I’m in beginning band and this could help me a lot!

LearnSaxophone is great but there is one small issue. I feel that LearnSaxophone grades too easily. I can butcher a song completely and LearnSaxophone will give me 3 stars and say great job! Go to the next song. It's fine since I know to just restart on my own, but I wish LearnSaxophone would be a little more challenging on the grading to force me to get “stuck” on certain songs to motivate even more to practice that particular piece.

I loved LearnSaxophone from the start and paid for a subscription. I’m new to sax but have a music background and enjoyed how it would introduce each note or concept and reinforce with lessons. But I was disappointed that the lessons ran out after only 12 notes. Update-the lessons have been extended and improved and I see that the real value in LearnSaxophone is to play songs and improve with the graded guidance.

The challenges have become more fun and I’m usually in the top 10, after just 4 months playing sax. I like how Tonestro gamifies learning an instrument, similar to a popular language app. It’s become part of my practice routine.

When I used LearnSaxophone I thought I was gonna be a bad app to learn a saxophone but when I got it I know how to do songs

I’be always had trouble with playing low notes but this is slowly helping me tysm

So far only on the first section, it has some awesome knowledge for beginners starting with note B4 for the tenor saxophone. The exercises are pretty easy to follow and understand, and so far it’s picking up my sound great with no headphones!

For a beginner its really cool thing to use that gives feed back on how to tune and adjust your playing. Would highly recommend this.

As an adult beginner sax player, I was elated to find LearnSaxophone. I’ve only just begun and can tell how much it will help me to remember the skills I had playing the clarinet in middle school and translating it to learning to play sax. Cant wait!

Only wish that we can upload sheet music but I don't care I am lucky that I found LearnSaxophone and bought 1 year.

I am trying to learn saxophone myself without any personal teacher. I could make progress only after LearnSaxophone. Immediate feedback whether note play correctly is awesome.
A few areas of improvement:
1: low notes are not easy to play on tenor saxophone, I hope there will be more guidance on that as we progress.
2: it always give me three stars after I complete exercise. I wish it would evaluate tone more accurately. But there may be tech limitations.
3:Is there any way App can record what we are playing as a part of exercise.

Beautiful app with lots of content for an amateur player like me that looks for ways to improve my skills and have fun at the same time.

First off, LearnSaxophone is amazing for beginners! It has helped me so much with my saxophone. But there is something you can fix. The timing of the notes are a little wonky. At first, it wasn’t clear when the timing of the notes were. When I was a beginner, that was very frustrating. But now it makes more sense. Thanks for making this amazing app. Totally recommend it for all skill levels.

While I love LearnSaxophone, it could use a few upgrades. But let’s start of with the good stuff. LearnSaxophone is awesome. It teaches you how to play so many new songs and teaches you rytheim. But here’s the truth.

It isn’t as good as it good be. The metronome glitches and can make this annoying high pitch squeal. And second it starts you off playing songs and your like “wait what?” It doesn’t have in introduction on what to do. Also it could really use a fingering chart. I play the Tenor Saxophone and I just started. I got LearnSaxophone in hopes that I could get a boost on learning since I started late. But almost all of the notes I have to go and search up the fingering. But over all it’s a good app and I hope others like me will be able to learn from LearnSaxophone.
