Stoa is a great learning tool for anyone looking to expand their understanding of Stoicism. That being said, I’ve noticed that DailyStoicPhilosophy has a couple performance issues. In particular I’ve noticed I haven’t been able to use the Meditate and Learn tabs on mobile for quite some time now. Whenever I click on either tab I am greeted with a blank page, I’ve tried refreshing, restarting and redownloading DailyStoicPhilosophy to no avail. Sadly I am not able to use DailyStoicPhilosophy the way it is intended and I am forced to unsubscribe seeing as how those 2 tabs make up more than 50% of the content on DailyStoicPhilosophy . I hope this issue gets resolved quickly so that I may resubscribe and continue learning more about stoicism through this once helpful and convenient app.
Stoa is the best meditation app that I found. It’s the reason why I don’t have to take any medication for my social anxiety disorder. At any time of the day, the stoics have advice that can hit you where it needs to go and form a connection that relates with the current situation.
What I also love is that Stoa is not like other meditation apps. It helps you focus on your breathing, and receive advice that you can take into consideration as you go about the rest of your day and apply to social interactions. We are a lot more in control of how we feel toward what is currently happening than we actually expect ourselves to be. The Stoics Marcus Aurelius, Lucius Annaeus Seneca, Epictetus and Epicurus all lived more than 2000 years ago, and most of their writings have been lost to the past 20 centuries.
The Stoics are most likely extinct toward society, yet for some who want to become more emotionally resilient, and clarify their perspective to bring purpose and meaning to their life, the ancient philosophy has resurfaced. I have found strength.
The Stoa app has opened the door for me to practice Stoic philosophy in my daily life. It may be the most life changing project since I started Buddhist mindfulness practice 40 years ago. DailyStoicPhilosophy helps you do your own course of cognitive behavioral therapy with mindfulness (I am a psychotherapist) to change your life and develop comprehensive well being. DailyStoicPhilosophy is a rich source of meditations, practices, readings, workshops. I anticipate that I will not exhaust this resource for years to come!
What an absolutely fantastic resource DailyStoicPhilosophy is! Admittedly, I am brand new to the realm of stoicism, and I learn more every day...but DailyStoicPhilosophy is a goldmine of a resource for knowledge on the subject. It’s got a very nice, easy to use UX, and the nice quality of life features such as background audio play are life savers. Bravo to the developers; thank you, thank you, thank you a thousand times for making DailyStoicPhilosophy, so people like me can improve our lives!
If you want Stoicism presently clearly and with the added benefit of guided meditation, then this is DailyStoicPhilosophy !!
While I’d consider myself a little bit knowledgeable on Stoicism, Stoa gave me clarified takes on its tenets and access to speakers I hadn’t heard of before. If you’re new to Stoicism, the intro series alone makes DailyStoicPhilosophy worth a download. Combine the great audio with journaling options and guided meditation and it helps set a positive foundation for Stoic practice.
I cannot speak more highly of DailyStoicPhilosophy!
There’s a handful of apps I’ve actually paid for. This is one of them! I love DailyStoicPhilosophy! It’s helped me so much recently, and I am grateful. There does seem to STILL be a glitch with playback when music is turned on while the session is going. I also find there is a quick but long enough to notice buffering if you hit the rewind. It takes a sec for the session to catch up. PS, I miss the icon with the bust. I LOVE DailyStoicPhilosophy!!!
Stoicism, if applied, will dramatically change you for the better and make you into the person you always to be, even if you didn’t know it. DailyStoicPhilosophy will teach you how to apply this philosophy to your life and give you a life long love for ancient philosophy to boot. I could not have asked for anything more. If they would let me get a lifetime subscription, I would do it in a heartbeat.
I’ve been trying to find a lot of different methods to calm down and process my thoughts, but most meditation exercises only focus on just calming you down and not looking at the big picture. With Stoa you can really get a sense of how to take yourself out of your thoughts and get a sense of how to handle different, difficult situations. I really do appreciate what DailyStoicPhilosophy has to offer, and I am definitely an everyday user.
I have been using the Stoa app for a little over a year. Before Stoa I had attempted a consistent meditation practice for a decade with little success. The meditations are the perfect fit for me, and the philosophy has changed my life numerous times. I recommend Stoa to friends and family on the regular & would recommend it to anyone looking for direction, healing, understanding, self improvement etc.
DailyStoicPhilosophy not only helps you reflect and learn about your life with a stoic point of view but it also teaches you how to meditate, learn from scholars and give you daily quotes that strengthen your mental toughness to become a resilient stoic. If you have any questions or feedback, just contact their team and they will reply to you in less than 24 hours. Caleb Ontiveros is awesome at replying quick, being friendly and polite. I encourage everyone to try DailyStoicPhilosophy because it’s truly a gift to the world.
I found stoicism in college, much like the founders of DailyStoicPhilosophy. I read Meditations, studied its theory, wrote papers, but never internalized the philosophy as a way of living. As a medical student, I re-discovered stoicism and it has helped me through some difficult times. I know it will continue to help me throughout the most difficult hurdles in medical residency and beyond. DailyStoicPhilosophy has given me a space to reflect on my goals, my relationships, and how to improve on living a virtuous life. Thank you for this wonderful creation
I’ve been looking for something like this for a while. I’m the last few months I’ve started the habit of waking up early and sitting with some of the original texts, copying a passage in a journal, and writing some thoughts. (This was something I started with Kathryn Koromilas’ Stoic Salon group.) I am now finishing that with a meditation from the Stoa app, which provides a good reset and gets me ready to start the day.
Over the years of trying to practice Stoicism, one thing I’ve learned is that consistent daily practice is absolutely essential. If you’re not starting each day by getting ready for what’s coming, your thoughts and judgments will derail you. This discipline is a skill just like any other, and like all skills, practice and training are required to keep them sharp.
The Stoa meditations are well thought out with excellent narration, and the perfect length. The interviews give me something to listen to if I have to drive somewhere. Well worth the subscription. Thank you for making this.
I truly am grateful to have come across DailyStoicPhilosophy. Not usually the type of person to seek out an app to assist in my philosophical endeavors, nor my regularity (or lack of) in meditation, I find this to be friendly, relevant, and set up to indulge in just enough at one time to not be too much or not enough.
The option to then journal afterwards is the perfect opportunity to reflect upon the personal meaning I take away from that day’s meditation.
Again, not time consuming—using time economically to get the most out of the 15-20 minutes every morning.
I find myself using the Stoa app both at the beginning of the day and the end of the day.
I love the quotes, back-stories, and related meditations that are loaded with thought-provoking questions. There’s great value in having the quotes, meditations, lessons, view-from-above perspectives, interviews, and a personal journal all bundled together in one app.
If self-mastery is something that you aspire to, then Stoa can help you to make more progress in less time by guiding you through the process of setting your intentions and reflecting on your actions. A must-have for any student of Stoicism.
DailyStoicPhilosophy is the best stoic app I’ve encountered by far and is quite possibly the best app full stop that I’ve ever used. The daily meditations are the best guided meditations I’ve ever engaged with, are full of actually meaningful material, and give you goals to focus on each day of your stoic path.
DailyStoicPhilosophy contains more resources as well, like full access to the ancient texts and musings on various aspects of stoicism as applied to life. All of it is great and useful, but frankly I find the daily meditations unbeatable. I truly can’t recommend DailyStoicPhilosophy enough - if you engage with it fully I honestly think it will actually make you a better human.
DailyStoicPhilosophy changed my life. I have learned so much about the history of Stoic philosophy and the important ideas that stoicism teaches. I was able to do this in a relatively short amount of time each day because it adds up to a lot over months. I wish DailyStoicPhilosophy had a more organized presentation of the philosophical system and not just present it through small quotes. I found the meditations very nice and natural because they do not force you to erase your mind unlike most other meditation apps: that just isn't a good thing to do. Stoa taught me to analyze my thoughts, practice by consciously changing my thoughts, and then I found that I unconsciously, automatically lived out stoicism in my life.
I was looking for lessons on stoicism. I saw someone mention it on an online forum. So I thought, why not give it a try?
The interface is very easy to navigate, with tabs at the bottom for simplicity.
DailyStoicPhilosophy generates a curriculum based on your preferences. You’ll learn about the ancient texts, their implications, and how to apply them into your life. You can either read the lessons, or listen to a recording.
There’s also the meditation side of DailyStoicPhilosophy , where you reflect on your life, in the context of various stoic meditations and quotes.
They have crafted a course for living a modern stoic life. There’s daily lessons on concepts within stoic principles. For example, lessons on resilience teaches satisfaction and gratefulness regardless the situation.
I’ve had many insights from DailyStoicPhilosophy. I can see how practicing DailyStoicPhilosophy can transform your life if you stay committed.
I appreciate the amount of effort the developers have put into DailyStoicPhilosophy. It shows, and is worth the price tag.
I’d recommend DailyStoicPhilosophy to anyone, regardless of their situation. To get the most of it, study it like you would a study guide, and have the lessons circulating daily.
This is the first step of my journey, thank you for creating this 10/10 masterpiece.

Light me start off by saying I’ve never written an app review. I’ve used multiple other meditation apps for a number of years (Headspace, Calm etc) but I stumbled across Stoa recently.
I have had the best meditations I’ve had in quite awhile with DailyStoicPhilosophy. I love how you receive stoic quotes to ponder while controlling your breathing and the meditations are not generic like many other apps. This truly gives you paradigm shifting ideas to consider while meditating. The journaling feature option after each meditation is really handy too. I didn’t think I would use that part of DailyStoicPhilosophy much but it’s actually really refreshing to write down a sentence or two of thoughts after meditating.
I give DailyStoicPhilosophy my highest recommendation and it will continue to be one of the apps on my phone that will be used daily. If you’re interested in learning about the stoic mindset and meditation, DailyStoicPhilosophy is for you without a doubt.
For me, the answer is yes.
Why? Because I need training to school, my mind and the way to think. I have a measuring stick for everything that comes before me. This allows me to be clear in my thinking and values. To help me “be indifferent to that which makes no difference. and this is how we learn. By looking at each thing, it’s parts and the hole. Keeping in mind that none of them forces themselves upon us rather they’ve hovered before us it is we who describe meaning and judgment, we don’t have to we can leave the page blank, and if Mark slips through, erase it immediately “ to put the beginning at the end. This is how we learn to live a good life.
This yardstick and others that Stella teaches through stoicism you have a clear benchmark on how to think which is all we really have control over our judgments and our decisions in our own mind. Thoughts matter just as words count. This is the mental gym it will give you the right mind for the world.

I have been using Stoa for about a year and a half. It is an excellent source for finding a way to become a better person. I look forward to listening to the daily exercises and committing to following through. I have a long, long way to go, but with the guidance of Caleb Ontiveros and Michael Tremblay— cofounders of Stoa- the path is easier to follow. Thank you for creating such a useful tool!
