Great start, boring mid way

Game started off great until I got to the level I’m currently at.
I started off with a design of how I wanted my city to look. Blocks of houses followed by a block of markets, municipal buildings followed by a blocks of more houses and so on. Turns out that won’t work because buildings only cover a specific area, therefore making me have to pick up certain buildings and decorations and moving them to another area to make room for other buildings in order to advance. Leaving some of my buildings vulnerable to plague, fires and collapsing while trying to rearrange my city. At this point I’ve lost any interest in playing the game. If y’all could make it so that certain buildings can cater to a certain number of population instead of an area coverage. I think that would be great.

Tedious and rigid

Are you someone who loves reorganizing your kitchen cabinets, closets, and drawers every week? If so, you are going to love this game! If not, I’d suggest something else. At every level you have to reorganize the city because there is a new building that needs to be built within a certain distance from all your residential buildings. There is a very prescribed growth path... you can only build so many residential buildings per level. Plus you have to spend your resources each time you move any building... it isn’t free like most city building games. If you want a game that allows for more creative with your city layout, I would suggest another Sim game. It’s a shame because this has potential with great graphics and a nice range of buildings but the city building is just so tedious that it doesn’t feel fun at all.

Game Play Issues

So it started out pretty good. I was figuring out a layout for the city since certain municipal buildings only cover a certain amount of area which was fine. My issue comes in when the game asks that you have all your buildings covered by police, fire stations, water supply and the like. It’s an issue because even though I’ve done all that, checked and tripled checked to be sure no building was outside a coverage area it continues to say that I don’t have all my buildings covered by police. And being that I’m only at level at level 5 with about 20 buildings total I don’t see how everything isn’t covered. I even moved everything so that it was all lined up side by side and it still says everything isn’t covered. It’s frustrating and I’m actually quite disappointed. I was actually hoping this would be an interesting game but this situation I’m having now has turned me off. If I’m having an issue like this at just level 5 who knows what else is waiting down the line to happen.

Sim Empire

I’ve tried 3 different games, just learning the best setup, and understanding how to balance the population, products, level of populations and supply, and find it stimulating and interesting until the balance is achieved. I still think renewable supply, like woodland, should be farmable. I actually find manipulating the market to price goods down in order to make the goods more obtainable to other players, once my city is balanced.
One major problem is that some slime bucket has decided to spend their time conquering the tree properties and hiking the prices so that wood is not affordable. It's a game people, with plenty of challenges, not a monopoly for one spoiler with delusions of godhood, so i ask the game builders to fix this problem. Monopolies in the real world are chargeable as crimes. I would be happy if the game creator put in a trap that simply stopped a gamester from having more than one wood lot, or better yet, simply ad a component that allows players to build tree lots like they do grain fields, as an update that will end that monopoly nonsense. We are all limited by population, that limits food, wood and other supplies. Let’s deal with the “Tree Monopoly” guy and get back to playing the game! (I miss Sim City, but this one is an acceptable sub…so far, except for the Wood Guy. Please, fix this!)

Can’t believe I wasted my time

Start is slow, unnecessary things to build in order to progress, one you progress enough you get a notification saying you are now vulnerable to attack but you done even have a militia, upgrades don’t mean anything if you don’t level up, houses don’t get full(I built max houses and all of them are 8/10 but I’m not allowed to recruit more people?), you need workers for a granary? Like just store it buddy we don’t need 24 people working on it you say “it’s accurate” I say it’s time consuming, annoying, and having obstacles as tiny as those makes the game une joya le as a whole especially since it’s not accurate the way your forcing us to progress which UPGRADES are totally dependent on. For example you researched military.. guess what you can’t build anything remotely related to that until you progress so half the game right now is tapping the immigrant button and waiting for stuff to build. Pretty sure that’s not accurate

No restore purchases option, do not spend money on this game

Cool city building, but there are major flaws. First of all, there are requirements to upgrade your houses, but it does not tell you what they are until you are trying to upgrade them to the next level. As such, there is ABSOLUTELY NO WAY to know what you need, and to plan your city accordingly. “Build a decoration nearby to level up your residence” great. Couldn’t have told me that before I built other stuff near the residence? “Oh you can just move the buildings.” No you can’t. If your houses are filled to capacity you. Cannot. Move. The. Houses. You’re just screwed. Also I would like to change the name associated with my Sim account. It cannot be done. You cannot change your account name, which is absolutely baffling. Also, I straight up cannot use my Apple account anymore because something went wrong and now it says there’s an issue and I cannot login so my cities are gone. Furthermore, I purchased the Chinese option for $0.99, but I deleted SimEmpire to try and fix the aforementioned account problem, and there is NO RESTORE PURCHASE OPTION, or if there is it is soooooo hidden I cannot find it after a good amount of searching. Final thoughts: interesting game, but wayyyyyyyyy too many problems to be worth it, I may try it again in the future but I am so far beyond done and I’ve been withholding an astounding amount of curses from how frustrated I am at SimEmpire.

“Come on! One step”

ESOL errors aside, this is a great looking simulation game, but the interface really stinks. You have to tap each individual house to find out which ones are ready for an upgrade, which is extremely tedious once you have 20 or more spread out across the map. Then there’s the whole “not enough resources” to collect something you put into the production queue 4 hours earlier when you DID have the resources. Another interface problem is not being able to click on houses to find out what they need when it won’t let you collect taxes because “you cannot meet the needs of the citizens so they refuse to pay taxation.” This happens when you have multiple houses together and the gold icons all around make it very difficult to impossible to click on an actual house.

Crash!

Please, please, please, find out what causes this game to crash! With every new update, the game crashes more frequently. This game is very addicting and fun to play once you figure it out. I’m currently on level 31 on Egypt, but cannot go any further due to the crashes. I cannot open the Trade Center, build anything new, nor open up any industry or agriculture info without the game crashing.

This game is very fun to play, as I said, once you get to understanding how the placement of things work. This game is very similar to the old PC sim game of Pharaoh, which if you enjoyed back then, you’ll be sure to enjoy the Egypt map on this game. However, something causes this game to crash in less than a minute while playing. If this issue could be figured out somehow, this game would be five stars for sure!

Old School Caesar on Mac OS

This game is basically an exact replica of an older Mac OS 9 game. Look wise it’s awesome. Play wise it leaves so much to we wanted.

Game play is way too slow and confusing. You build something and then have to knock it down because the game says “one building needs to support all structures.” The game doesn’t tell you what that coverage looks like until you built it.

Also research. “Build a clinic”. “In order to build a clinic you need to research Sanitation.” (10:00 research). If you told me before hand I need to research that I would have.

After DLing the game, you really don’t get to play for a few hours. You need to do a lot of research before you can even start to play. One you start to play you probably have to knock down and restart your city due to the odd shapes of coverage that they allow.

I downloaded 2 hours ago, have deleted it and calling it a day.

Please fix this game. It has such great potential but the long times to play and your pay method make it not worth my time.

A huge Caesar Mac OS 9 Fan.

Could be great.... Could be....

First off in order to not be waiting for several days to progress in this game, you need real $$$. You are expected to pour tons of real $$$ into your game. Then into the gameplay... You have now purchased diamonds and gold bars. Great now you can expand and grow! But watch out you won’t be able to move items you already have in your inventory without population restrictions or time to rebuild in the new spot sometimes quick but while waiting for these restrictions some of your buildings fall subject to plague or natural disasters. And If you already put some diamonds in to accelerate time for production within certain buildings that are now under attack from plague or natural disasters, too bad those are now gone and most likely the building will be decimated and will have to be rebuilt from scratch. Thus furthering you from the finish point on so many invested production times on buildings and resources. Again could be great. But too many obstacles to open up a fun enjoyable gaming experience.

Not what I wanted but not horrible

I thought this was more of a sandbox empire building game that included a fun battle type system. It is not. It has a very strict level up system so you can’t just freely build. The battle system is horrible as well. Basically you just send the troops to a field of battle and it auto plays without any control or ability to even organize your troops. The battle system also seems horribly unbalanced. It takes me 3-4 days to build up 40-50 troops and then I send them to a wilderness front to attack animals and they lose, wiping out 4 days worth of work and time. Just for a random wild battle not even an attack against another player. It’s a decently fun, level based empire builder though

Fun but could be better

I’ve been playing this game for almost two months and overall it’s fun but if a few things were fixed it could be better. First there are some things which are poorly translated into English. I’ve seen this comment in other reviews so I won’t dwell on it. Second a adequate supply of fish is difficult to obtain in the higher levels. The most logical thing to do is purchase from the market; however, the market closes in the evening in my time zone for some reason. I am frustrated at this aspect in my game due because it is stopping the progress of my city. I recommend to the developer to allow more fisheries to be constructed or change the way the market works so that they can be purchased using gold. I must say I enjoy about the game than I dislike. Overall it’s fun and the artwork is beautiful.

Deja vu

The game feels like a monetized cartoon-ey ripoff of Pharaoh/Zeus/Emperor, with Tech Tree. I am at level 10 and chose a Persian city for something unique. Its clever and slow and the music is dreamy and mesmerizing. I went to look up the credits, wondering if the folks behind my favourite classics were somehow involved and maybe finally making a buck again, but sadly not, SimEmpire is a tracking chip spawned in China. Funny... if ChrisB and Co wanted to track us I would be the first to take the chip but I think I will just free play this till I hit the pay wall and leave it at that. I have tried them all and this is the closest you will get on mobile to those old gems.

Municipal/Religious Building Grids

I’ve played this game for a long time. Perhaps a couple years (on and off). What turned me off the most was the grid system in the municipal and religious buildings. It’s unrealistic for citizens to have temples/fire stations/ watch towers etc, in almost every block. This is an easy fix, as a comment from over a year ago suggested, give a transportation timer, meaning, the radius of protection is due to how long it takes to get to the destination. Expand the citizen mood to include long waited times, that way we can begin to mess with the layouts of our cities. They all look too similar.

Eventually move towards making the game 3D. And fix the loopholes that allow players to monopolize the game. If you take this game seriously then work on it, if not, take it off the store, at this point it’s just here to make money off those who’ve never played it.

Okay but too structured

I liked the idea the game had. It was entertaining for a time, but the chapters and tutorial made the game too structured to follow a set path where you didn’t have much freedom to develop your civilization. I have to research certain technologies, build certain buildings to progress and was only allowed so many houses per chapter and couldn’t have more immigrants unless I progress to the next chapter because I could only build more housing once I get to the next chapter.
It had potential but it should’ve allowed more liberty to how you progress. Also the tech tree feels a bit limited too, so I’d also recommend adding more technologies.

Nice game but the poor and misleading language is a tough hurdle to get over

Extremely frustrated over the “bad environment” factor. No way to tell where it is. Just have to build and move using trial and error. Really really frustrating. Also hard to Line up the shops. And why does the trade close down for hours? Makes no sense. And please hire someone who speaks English. Google translate would do a better job. Haven’t been able to log in for several days. Just get errors. Support is unresponsive. Guess I am done with the game.

Not a fan of the building system

I am only level 20 as of this review but I already dislike the building system. The fact that the fire station, police station, and all other municipal/services building have a specific grid that they cover makes it restrictive to build. Ever time I unlock a new building, I have to move things around to make them fit within the predefined building area.

It would be much better if there was a capacity requirement (10 building per police station for example) and the distance from the station only affects citizen moods and amount of taxes they pay. Maybe even have a timer before events like fire is resolved and during that time the fire fighters can address other issues. This way we can decide how many fire stations to build and where to build them.

City building

Good game, quite similar in many ways to the Caesar games.

Two suggestions:

1. Language is a problem. There are notifications and letters that are in an Asian language that I cannot understand. I actually wouldn’t mind this too much if I could copy the notifications and use Google translate but that is not possible. I also suspect I could get friends if language was not a barrier. But I don’t know how important this is.

2. There is a strange phenomenon related to unemployed people. I have about 15% of the population that are free but only 13 people unemployed. And then something happens and It seems all the free people are unemployed. And shortly after that it goes back to hundreds being free and only a handful unemployed. There also doesn’t seem to be any effect by opening jobs; the unemployed number stays the same. I wish I understood it. Maybe there are hints that I cannot read because they are not in English.

In spite of these 2 issues I still am really enjoying the game.

It’s great! Few comments

I was playing for a coupe of weeks, and it very addictive and entertaining. It’s a city builder but until now, I’m in level 20, the process has been very good. I payed only because I want to have some things faster but you can really play for free (no paying). Only I would like to have shorter times of development and production, 4 hours is very long waiting time, but it’s my opinion. Also should have more technologies and investigation in the tree. Lastly, I would like to have more zoom in and out, 4 zoom levels are very limited.

Nostalgia

A fun throwback to the Caesar, Pharaoh, and Emperor games. It’s a good start with a lot of potential. Hopefully they’ll keep developing it. For now, I’d just like to know why industrial and agricultural buildings require coverage by a clinic; it’s a huge waste of workers.

UPDATE after first five days.
Hi, sorry to leave this issue in a review, but I can’t find anyway to reach customer support. At level 20, I have run into a critical bug that impedes my continued progress. For some reason, when I collect stone, it no longer goes into my warehouse, even though I have plenty of room for it. Otherwise, things are going well and we’re enjoying the game. Thanks.
