On its way to being one of the best apps on the market

The customer appreciation and service is off the charts. The developers are clearly listening to their users and adjusting the glitches based on direct feedback. If you think it’s only for beginner and intermediate, and you’re advanced, Think about it for your students. I strongly recommend checking this out and giving feedback. The developers take all comments in stride and communicate whenever possible. If you are advanced, but enjoy checking out new apps,You will be challenged directly by the developers even if you don’t feel challenged quite yet in the beginner levels on ScoreSkillsLearnMusicNotes itself. Highly recommend this on the ground level as we all learn and grow together.

So so so glitchy!!!

I am so disappointed with ScoreSkillsLearnMusicNotes. I paid $40 to get the year subscription for what I thought was a really awesome app to learn piano, but turns out ScoreSkillsLearnMusicNotes is so poorly made and disjointed. I love the concept but the glitchyness is impossible to work with. ScoreSkillsLearnMusicNotes crashes constantly. Sometimes it won’t even show you a question but answer options will still show up and you’ll have no idea what to do. The “music writing” program is so clunky and impossible to work and there is no option to not do those. You have to finish them and get enough right to move onto the next levels but sometimes it’s insanely difficult just because ScoreSkillsLearnMusicNotes is hard to use. On top of that it doesn’t teach you what anything means. It’s telling me to find “dominant function” vs “tonic” but never says what they are or what they mean. I’m so incredibly disappointed and wish I could get my money back. I knew this was a Duolingo rip off but I didn’t think it was going to be as bad as it was.

Helpful, with room to improve & expand

I love the engagement this provides. I like to make as many connections as possible while learning, and repetition is key for me, too, which is why I find ScoreSkillsLearnMusicNotes so effective.

Sometimes it was helpful for me to look at a keyboard while using ScoreSkillsLearnMusicNotes to figure out the correct answers through understanding (rather than guessing). I didn’t always have one available, though, so would like to suggest adding a small keyboard diagram that can be toggled on or off during game play.

There are glitches and room for refinement. There are ways to give feedback, though these are glitchy, too.

Based on the description of ScoreSkillsLearnMusicNotes , I had an unrealistic expectation about the number of levels and frequency of additions. I was surprised to have completed all the levels within two months. I hope new material will be added soon for more scales and the circle of fifths.

I would like also to see the addition of short explanations or definitions. For example, there are levels that ask you to identify or build dominant chords, but I had to go elsewhere to get a reminder about what those are.

All in all, this is a good app. It has been very helpful to my learning process.

Like Duolingo, but for the language of music

It’s like Duolingo, same format, even the same visual style. It arguably works better for music, though, since notation is easier than a language. What I like in particular is that it pays different notes with different instruments, to give you a Sense of what notes sound like in different mediums. It feels like great fun, however I just started, so whether there is an actual learning effect that leads me to being able to compose my own tunes remains to be seen. The program is also incomplete; is doesn’t have courses for all aspects of musical notation.

Issues Opening App

I was looking for an app to have my private student use on days that we don’t have music lessons. When doing research I found ScoreSkillsLearnMusicNotes and saw that it had wonderful reviews so I recommended it to my student. So far my student loves it and works wonderfully! Unfortunately for me, I am not able to use ScoreSkillsLearnMusicNotes . I downloaded ScoreSkillsLearnMusicNotes with success but every time I try to open it all I get is the Score Skills logo and a loading screen. I have downloaded ScoreSkillsLearnMusicNotes over and over again hoping that would fix it but it didn’t. I emailed your company with the email listed on your website but received an automatic response saying my email was rejected. I would love to use your app so if there is any way to trouble shoot this please do!!

Five start app, but sometimes buggy

In latest update, the context menu no longer shows up on iPadOS13. This makes it almost impossible to add dots to notes for example.

ScoreSkillsLearnMusicNotes has been very good, but sometimes when finishing a level, it crashes, then it is impossible to continue. I have found that deleting app, and downloading it again, then going back and replaying the earliest unfinished module is the only way to proceed. If you play ones that are unlocked but after some locked modules, they always crash.

When ScoreSkillsLearnMusicNotes is working, it is wonderful, and has really helped my kids. It is updated very frequently ... which is nice, but sometimes when ScoreSkillsLearnMusicNotes gets into one of these stuck states the updates don’t fix it unless you go back to old modules.

Great but needs work

The Duolingo set up for music theory is a brilliant idea but there are many areas that need improvement. For instance if I get the wrong answer in the matches there’s no way to take back your answer or progress so I have to start the quiz over, this can be very frustrating seeing as how common the matching questions are.
When I am required to write a note ScoreSkillsLearnMusicNotes automatically zooms in to where I can even see all the lines to place notes on.
It would be very helpful to add short explanations before introducing new musical concepts instead of just throwing us into the quizzes guessing (granted most new concepts are pretty easy to figure out without an explanation).

Hit and miss

The beginning starts off great and easy for beginners. I was hoping to add this as a tool to my studio. Unfortunately, it gets hard pretty fast around the 4th level. Some of the levels afterwards are a bit easier, but then it gets hard again. It would be better if ScoreSkillsLearnMusicNotes introduced more notes on the staff first before all the complicated rhythm patterns. Also, some Of the musical examples play really fast and Some Of the musical examples become unmelodic. It would be better to train someone’s ear by giving melodic notes within the scale (solfege) building up slowly. There are also some unusual matching/pairings. I understand what they’re trying to convey, but real music & music theory doesn’t match things as ScoreSkillsLearnMusicNotes does.

Cannot create profile(fixed)

I’ve been trying for a couple of weeks now to create a profile, as I purchased a year subscription. Everytime, it freezes at the “enter your email” screen. I tried to email compoze directly and it failed to send after multiple tries. If I can get this resolved the review will recieve more stars but, right now, I’m just disappointed.
UPDATE: The CEO reset my profile for me, saving my progress and this all resolved within a day. Great app!

It started out good...

But after being stuck on the Semitones and wholetones lesson for weeks, I realized there is no actual instruction on how to find a semitone or a wholetone. Which then led me to realize that the reason I got through up to that point was because I actually had enough background to understand the the assumptions behind each lesson that otherwise some people may not even get past themselves. Now I’m stuck and even watching tutorials online and knowing what these tones actually are, I still have no idea what I’m looking for in getting the right answers. So after paying the yearly subscription, I’m officially quitting accepting the sunk cost and moving to a different app.

Amazing app

I’ve been a church choir member for more than 50 years and ScoreSkillsLearnMusicNotes is making me more proficient in skills I didn’t realize I was weak in. Just one example: write down a very simple melody without showing me where to start on the staff. I thought “are you kidding me?” but I did it :-)
One piece of feedback for improvement: it would be great to be able to correct an error after checking it, but so far it doesn’t appear that app allows that.

Love the app

This seems like a great app. Very helpful in learning music. The reason I gave 3 stars instead of 4 or 5 is that I am not able to make more than one profile per account. I have 3 kids and each should have their own profile without having to sign up 3 different times.

I love this app but what’s going on ?

I recently started to use ScoreSkillsLearnMusicNotes and by far it’s my favorite app and it really helps me learn music theory while making it fun and interesting.

My app all of a sudden is not opening and keeps crashing and I’m starting to rethink this thing? What can I do to get it fixed ? I need ScoreSkillsLearnMusicNotes to help me learn..

An App for Learners

ScoreSkills different game types deliver skills practice in many different ways and makes learning fun! Users are not only expected to know something, but also demonstrate that they can apply what they know through puzzles and writing exercises.

Front page for $40 a year

Utterly self serving of Apple to put this up as ScoreSkillsLearnMusicNotes of the day. I completed the free stuff in 2 minutes. ScoreSkillsLearnMusicNotes crashed twice in those two minutes. Not something I would spend $40 on an annual subscription.
The activities were actually pleasant though.

This app is teaching me how to read music

I don’t play an instrument at all, but I wanted to learn how to read music and learn notes. This is a fantastic app and is showing me how to learn notes in a very easy way!

canceled

I bought a subscription to ScoreSkillsLearnMusicNotes because I really liked it but then it kept malfunctioning and I couldn't even sign back in to it???
I noticed the makers of ScoreSkillsLearnMusicNotes , in the reviews, keep telling people that its fixed and they apologize but it still has issue- seems like a scam to me.

By

No way to cancel the subscription.

ScoreSkillsLearnMusicNotes allows you “restore “ purchase easily, but does not provide any clue about how to cancel subscription. I was charged the annual fee at the beginning of 2021 , now at the end of the year, I want to stop the subscription. However, it seems ScoreSkillsLearnMusicNotes doesn’t provide any choice to stop subscription for the coming year.

Good idea, quite buggy, pay to play

Basically Duolingo for music and great idea. But after just 45-60 minutes of using it encountered several bugs including wrong notes which is really damaging to the education. I don’t recommend paying for ScoreSkillsLearnMusicNotes. Should be free for a longer time/more levels so developer can fix bugs.

My Students Love It!

This is the best app I’ve found to supplement my theory lessons while I teach. My students love it! Not to mention great experience with the developers if a problem arises. 5 star!

It's quite simple to operate

I never leave a reviews but ScoreSkillsLearnMusicNotes deserves one. Beautiful set up, no pop up ads, Amazing! I've been playing piano for quite a few years by ear and was always to lazy to learn how to read notes, but I decided to give it a try and I think ScoreSkillsLearnMusicNotes is the best way to do it.

By

So impressed with this app!

I could never figure out the notes when I was learning to read music in choir, however ScoreSkillsLearnMusicNotes not only turns it into a game, but it also associates each note with it's corresponding sound. Will update in a few months

BRILLIANT!!!

I have been wanting a music trainer like this. I've always struggled to read music notes and now am really starting to be able to. I really like the way they've split tempo from pitch in the different respective apps, makes it much easier to focus on learning. Thanks!

Thanks SO much and highly recommend.

Excellent app to learn how to read music and reinforce the basics. i bought the premium version after getting warmed up with the free stuff, even though i only care about bass clef (getting back into playing the trombone)

By

Very job well done

ScoreSkillsLearnMusicNotes is a great tool! I'm using it to teach myself music theory, there are lots of tips within ScoreSkillsLearnMusicNotes explaining things. It's also really worth paying for the full version, if you are serious about learning it.

Fantastic app.

Fantastic, ScoreSkillsLearnMusicNotes makes it so much easier to learn sheet music than the competition. Straight to the point and has a lot of features. I would totally recommend this to anyone who is starting out. 10/10

Brilliant work

My sight reading is improving quickly since I use ScoreSkillsLearnMusicNotes . I tried several books before, but nothing compares to the interactive audio visual experience. I look forward to hooking it up to my bass.

By

5 stars! Thank-you

Simple. Because of that it is incredibly good for what it does! This can most definitely be used to learn sheet music because of how intuiative it is! Also does have "Do, Re, Mi... Etc."! Can not recommend enough!

By

Very happy with service

Finding this very useful to help me finally learn to read music in conjunction with learning the piano. Good interface, no problems on tablet or phone. Would highly recommend.

5 stars

This is a great app to learn how to read sheet music. Great sight reading method if you're learning to play an instrument. Started three weeks ago with ScoreSkillsLearnMusicNotes and I can now read the music I'm playing

Hi, I’ve tried several times over the last month to open my ScoreSkills app, but it never gets past the opening screen and jingle - never to a lesson or my progress. Any suggestions? (I haven’t tried deleting and reinstalling the app in fear of losing all my progress)
