Zero amps? Really??

I usually have very low expectations for free apps but Ampere failed to even come close to meeting them. With the phone at less than 80% as instructed, plugged the phone in and ran the 3-10 minute test.

It's obviously charging, I can see that based on the battery icon from ios. After waiting, and waiting then waiting some more the test results are finally available. "very slow" with 0 amps registering is the apps conclusion. In other words, it's not charging. Clearly, it is. The developer is either completely clueless or had a major bug that he failed to catch when testing his app.

Seriously, don't waste your time... You'll never get that 3 to 10 minutes back that it takes Ampere to tell you absolutely no information. You can get useless information by watching a white house press conference...no need to install this to get more.

Fixed my iphone charging

Could not charge my IPhone 6s
With either of the two charging cords i have always used. Cleaned all contacts and charging port looked fine. After several hours of trying i gave in and scheduled visit to repair shop. Downloaded Ampere to check the charging and battery. After starting, it asked to diagnose system...and caution that it would take several minutes. When it finished, it declared battery OK and commented that charging was slow. Slow? It started charging and as fast as always. THANK YOU SIR!

Helped Sort Through Chargers

After accumulating multiple chargers and cables over the years and recently upgrading to a new device, Ampere has made sorting out the good and bad chargers and cables an easy task. After testing chargers and cables, I’m now using the ones that are functioning at the highest output on the new device and the ones that are lower output are put to use on other devices that don’t need as fast a charge rate. In addition, the truly bad chargers & cables can be relegated to the electronics recycling bin.

Pretty good for free actually

Stop hating. This is a good app and be thankful that it's free.

The haters probably didn't read the instructions so I'm just going to remind them that it says to have less than 85% charge to decrease testing time. Also because of smart charging technologies implemented by Apple and others, the charge percentages determine how the current will be delivered to the device. So if you're closer to 100%, the power current will be lower, as opposed to if you're closer to 0%.

The tests are all over the place

First of all I tested Ampere using 3 different devices a iPad Pro 12.9 4th gen, a iPhone 13 pro max, and a iPhone 7 Plus each time it said the phone was a 12 pro max for each device and seems to spit out random numbers as tests never seemed accurate with the 18 watt iPad brick I was testing with. Sometimes it say it was fast sometimes slow all devices were at about 30 capacity and 100 percent battery health while conducting test. Each time it thought the battery capacity was 3600mAh odd. I’d find something else if you need to test a brick for sure.

Great with a tiny glitch

Ampere is excellent. It allows me to quantify the effectiveness of all my chargers, both the wired and inductive. It also gives me an accurate way to determine how long each charger will require to recharge my devices.

Yes, there’s a slight glitch with the back arrows in the upper left corners of the screens which makes it difficult to select them. Not that big of an issue.

I now know what chargers to use and how long each will take to charge my devices. I also now know how, when and where to deploy my PD ports to optimize their effectiveness.

Excellent app, please take a look at the aforementioned glitch with the back arrows in the upper left corner of the screens.
Thanks

Maybe not for newer iPhones?

Tried to test the charging speed 3 times. It took about 2 minutes for each test. The battery was less than 20% (battery indicator red) on the first test, and the test showed 0 charging speed. However, the battery indicator had turned green by the end of the test. Same result for the next 2 tests - 0 charging - except that the battery was at 35% by the end of the 3rd test. I’m pretty sure I could’ve guessed my battery specs and done a better hand calculation than the 0s Ampere gave me. Guess that’s what I get for free.

Excellent app for its money ;)

Come on, guys, this is a FREE app. I used Ampere only to test my laptop’s USB port charging current. Yes, it has a lot of ads. But it gives very good estimation of charging current. At least, it can show relative difference between power bank, wall charger, and a laptop USB. Absolute value require better calibration, I think.

Good, but...

On my Xs Max it’s really hard to hit the < and bars in the top left for some reason. At first I thought maybe my screen had issues but I tried other apps and the screen is fine, seems there’s an issue with Ampere.

Otherwise, does what it says. I got it because I wanted to verify fast charging speeds for my phone since the beeps never work.

Pretty Good

Not bad for a free app. I do find it sometimes inconsistent when I do several tests from the same charger. Sometimes it will say 1500 mA or almost 3000 mA from two different tests from the same charger. I think it’s always best to do multiple tests of getting consistent numbers before making any conclusions.

Works well

Seems to be accurate based on the readings I’m getting. Hiwever, I don’t have my external reader available to check it.

I tried another similar app but it always have the same basic ratings no matter what i connected to or used to charge my iPhone.

Could use clearer presentation of info

There are plenty of units used with no definitions or scales, you have to Google everything it tells you. Just a minor inconvenience, but yunno. Also there are still a lot of bugs, especially typos and such.

Finally know the fastest way to charge my device

Finally - an app that actually tests and reports the power/efficiency of your charger! I have numerous wireless/wired chargers/cables and various adapters at different wattage. I was able to identify the best combo of plug/cord to charge my device the fastest. Minimal advertisements and works across various models of iPad/iPhones.

My goodness the ads!!

Ampere does a decent job of going around Apple’s limitations on developers (not allowing them to actually see the charge current) so that’s nice. I haven’t checked it with any hardware charge meter but I do believe it’s pretty accurate. The big downside of Ampere are he overly intrusive and constant ads. No matter what you do in Ampere , expect to see an ad when you do practically anything.

Not working

Dose not seem to work with the iPhone 12 pro at all he keeps saying slow charging not correct information on Ampere

By

I have an XS and it worked for me

Recently I bought a few high speed charging bases and wanted to test them. Thanks to Ampere, it appears they are charging very fast.

By

Don’t download not worth your time

Ampere just gives you a random number every time. I plugged it into my phone and did the test and it said high speed around 3000 something and I unplugged the charger from the phone waited a few seconds and plugged it back in didn’t change anything and did the test again it said 800 this time. Does not seem very realistic

not working on iphone eleven pro max

I tried this program on different cables and different chargers but it’s only give me the same result that is very slow on different phones it can work but in this phone it will only give me the same result so you need to fix your app otherwise it’s useless to let it in the store for this type of phone

By

Works well but

I like Ampere but there’s way too much advertising. Every time I switch to another page, an add pops up. I’m going to have to delete Ampere, not worth all the junk you have to go through to get the information you want.

Tracks your clip board

With the new iOS 14 it shows when an app pastes whatever you copied last. Ampere is needlessly pasting from the clipboard. It may be transmitting that information to Ampere maker. This is dangerous because the last thing you copied may be personal or a password or a credit card number. Ampere maker needs to stop pasting from clipboard.

Easy info but no help

This tells me in 1 minute that my photo is charging “speedy” at “1329ma” . Ok what does that mean. My iPhone battery 2700mha, and fast charge should charge should charge the phone to 50% or n 30 minutes . So speedy does not mean fast charge , what does it mean Ampere does not say.
Mr developer Ampere is very easy and seems to work , but what we all want to know is if the phone is “fast charging” or not . Fast charging the way Apple calls it, meaning 50% of battery in 30 minutes which means a charge of 4000ma or so . Thanks
