WordsApp is the game for learning Spanish! We’ve combined the best from games and educational apps and added a pinch of imagination!
WordsApp is an exciting journey to Spanish-speaking countries and cities with language immersion during which your brain will absorb words and grammar!
1. A unique way to learn the language — a trip around the world where your knowledge of Spanish is your currency.
I am writing this review in hopes that someone from wordsapp will fix my problem. I have emailed them twice and no one has responded. I purchased a years subscription, but unfortunately the game began crashing. I tried deleting LearnSpanish and reloading it, but then I lost my subscription. They state that your subscription won’t be lost, but it was. After a couple of weeks playing the free version, I broke down and bought another subscription. To my dismay, I still did not have the premium version, even with subscribing again I only had the free version. I am so sad because I really wanted to learn Spanish and the game was helping. PLEASE someone help me!
WORDSAPP BAD!!!!
by Nggsd
This is a very bad app! It makes charges on your credit card frequently WITHOUT your knowledge! You play for a few minutes and it says you are out of something. A button is there—that does NOT say you are buying anything—that must be pushed to go on playing! IF YOU PUSH IT, IT DOES CHARGE YOUR CREDIT CARD! It is a swindle! To attempt to get you to touch that button because you tried to X out of the popup window, it tells you if you X out of the popup window you will lose all your game points and you do! I was just trying to learn some Spanish words. I now owe a lit of money on my credit card for this after having it only a week or so!
Terrible! All they want is money!
by Coffe Joker
This is all about money! Even after you pay, the game is designed to make up keep paying or they lock you out! They should be ashamed! Terrible greedy people that don’t care about you learning, only about you keep paying them over and over. Any positive review is fake in my opinion!
I reached out to them and they ignored me. You can play for free but they make you wait 25 minutes if you don’t pass the level which they make almost impossible so you spend money to keep playing. Very sneaky. They make the games almost impossible to beat even if you get all the answers right, you still lose most of the time. They just want you to get frustrated and buy coins so you can continue to play.
I do enjoy the games, but it’s ruined by having to buy coins to play. You’re obviously not gonna know the right answers because you’re trying to learn, but when you get the answers wrong, instead of helping you learn they lock you out for 25 minutes unless you buy coins. I’d much rather pay for LearnSpanish and be able to enjoy it. LearnSpanish feels like gambling. The focus is solely on getting you to spend money instead of learning. I understand they wanna make money but they do it in a sneaky way which feels wrong to me.
Charge a fee for LearnSpanish or charge for a month, don’t charge people if they make mistakes which everyone will do cause they’re learning.
If they change their system and add options to cater to the user and be less greedyI’ll change my review.
Fun but moves way too fast.
by Jacimaree
After you beat each level the game begins adding new words often before I have a chance to really learn the words I was already working with and it becomes overwhelming. I can’t figure out how to go back and replay levels. If there is a way to go back and replay old levels until I learn them better please let me know and I will change my review. If not, this feature should be added. Otherwise, this is a good game and a really fun way to learn Spanish!
I used to love this game. However, it is hard to get your daily coins for learning new words, because you are not given a new word every round, and the new words deduct as if they are being used even when they are not. So you run out of the new words that you purchase before you even learn them. I am not sure if the game makers are doing this on purpose in order to force you to spend more money, but it needs to be fixed because it’s ruining the game.
Needs an update for the new iOS
by VotR2
Since the iPhone13, they made some changes to the game. Namely, the piggy bank went away completely. The game play has been the same—until level 200. I just moved into the Ibiza level and the graphics for the hamburgers don’t display. The game is unplayable. I have sent daily emails to the support team but am still waiting for a fix. Until then, i can’t go any higher in levels.
No way to contact developers, glitchy.
by Ebonyhippo
I really liked this game, but they've pushed some updates that are infuriating. There are now "hints" where matching words blink at the screen if you pause for more than a couple seconds. There's no way to turn off the hints, and they don't help for someone learning a language. It feels like pressure to go faster and get the right answer in the "game" instead of encouraging thinking and learning. Plus, now the "Next" button is in Russian - not the language I speak (English) or was trying to learn (Spanish). It's weird. There's no tech support or way to give feedback to the developers. I'm glad I didn't pay for the premium version.
Not for me
by MelG54
I’ve only been using this for 1 day. I am trying to find some fun games to help with my Spanish learning. I’ve been doing Duolingo for the past 6 months and have learned a lot, but I get board some times with the same old lessons. I was hoping this would be fun but honestly I don’t seem to get it. I feel like the hints make it way to easy and pressure you to answer super quickly. I can see how you would build on your vocabulary with the game but sorry it’s not for me. I’ll keep looking.
Fun but has some issues
by Ws Prof
Overall I really enjoy this game. I spend time playing and learning just about every day. There are a few issues though. The main one that frustrates me is when a word has two meanings, only some of the correct matches count. For example, I was just playing and ágil was on my screen multiple times but there are two accurate translations for it. If you select the “wrong” ágil, you lose. But there’s no way to tell which one the “right” one is.
My second issue is that there should be an easy way to “start over” all vocabulary lessons. I’ve gone through them all and the only way to reset that I’ve found is to do it on each vocabulary set individually.
The third issue is that there are some errors in the sentences and no way to notify the developer of these. For example, one sentence says something about claiming to see aliens. When you translate it, you have to include nunca meaning never. That’s not in the actual sentence.
Other than these few issues, I really enjoy playing.
App is great for learning. However there are some frustrating bugs. It seems after finishing a level I cannot tap anything except the settings to get the screen to respond sometimes. After exiting the settings I’m able to tap play again. Other than that it’s a solid game that doesn’t require you to get a subscription to enjoy.
Better than I thought
by H0bbez
I went into this game with low expectations but it is really good. Prices are cheap if you choose to buy anything but I haven’t bought a single thing and I’m getting free lessons and free stuff every single day. The only issue I have is there is no staying where you are in your lesson to keep practicing. You either keep up with the lessons or get left behind. Luckily they have a little fix for this issue but choosing how many words you want to learn every day.
fun, and really helpful

...and oddly quirky😉. Seriously, I enjoy this game and find I am learning a lot. I have to laugh at some of the vocabulary presented. Like, out of all I might need to say in Spanish, why am I being taught, "That one-armed man scares me." LOL Still, I find myself remembering a lot and can proceed quite fine without ever purchasing helps or lives with anything other than coins earned in the game. Two frustrations I have is that I feel way too many new words get dumped into a game. I set a goal of three new words a day because I wanted to master them before moving on. Sometimes I get ten or more in a single game, then a pile in the next, —even when i have chosen "play without new words" and I'm completely baffled for a week until I begin to recall a few. My second frustration is that I feel the ability to see the entire word is removed too early. ( A valuable educational technique used is to simply give you the first letter, then you can click on the word to hear it) Being a visual learner, I wish there were a way to click to temporarily see the word when needed and begin to marry it's form with it's sound. Nonetheless, thanks for the game!
Wish I had learned about this app sooner!

This feels like playing candy crush but without wasting my life away 🤩
Amazing, definitely download. If you can buy the yearly, cheaper and better than most learning option in my opinion 🤩
I love that it also has lives so I don’t spend too much time playing.
Some things to make it better:
- Support for words that are the same such as you & your etc. Right now, you can get falsely marked incorrect in these situations - Some sort of pathway to help encourage/pick the most important topics or words to start off. - Topics with common phrases from specific regions/countries
Addicting, which is great for learning!

I’ve played this game every day for the last 97 days (I know this because I always play after my duolingo lesson) and I just beat the last lesson #599. I was worried what would happen after beating all the levels, but thankfully, they’ve made it so you play random levels. So now I will continue to play so I can eventually get through all of the topics and maybe by then they will have new levels?!?! Also, I describe this game to my friends as a useful Spanish learning app that gamifies learning to make it feel like you’re playing candy crush but instead it’s not a waste of time! Although I’ve ran into a few bugs on some levels, I can’t let that take away from my 5/5 review. Thanks for making LearnSpanish!
Overall, I love LearnSpanish! I’ve learned so much that I am giving it all 5 stars even though the sound has glitches and customer support is nonexistent.
Update: I was able to get the sound to work again by pushing the sound bars way up in the settings. I didn’t have to do that before when it was working. I’m not sure if a recent update created this situation. Still, customer support has not contacted me, hence the 3 stars. I also found that selecting the playback button in sound settings helps to turn off and on any sounds. Weird. I have a iphoneX.
Somehow, the sound is no longer working on LearnSpanish. I’ve contacted customer support with no correspondence back. In general, it’s a great app, but if you can’t hear the Spanish words, what’s the point of buying it?
Must get for language learners
by Lpk932
I’m loving LearnSpanish. It’s got practical application learning that Is easy to change. Like between watching James Bond moving and logistics at work. It’s a fun game that simulates real conversation with random sentences which you build in the game.
The only down side is you have to turn the sound on every time. It was difficult to figure out how to turn the sound on and the lag time between when you can press the continue bottoms.
Love it

This is an engaging, delightful, addictive vocabulary builder. I would really really really like to see this game in French and German as well.
I don’t understand the negative reviews. I have passed through several cities. I haven’t paid anything. I receive free packs and coins regularly. No annoying advertising. Maybe I just haven’t made it far enough...
Update: I am at level 171. I haven’t paid yet. Payment makes things easier without giving the game away. I reiterate: I’d love this in other languages.
Update 2: I am over level 300 now. LearnSpanish had a few glitches which they fixed in a couple weeks. Amazing app. Responsive team. Please do this for other languages!!!
Update 3: Finished game. You don’t have to buy anything to play. Purchases just make things a little easier. Loved it. It was a little addictive. I want it in other languages. I have gathered more than 50,000 coins.
I'm grown and I love this game!
by Kasi15
This seems like a game for kids but I think it is so fun. I learn new words everyday and I took 2 years of Spanish in high school. Plus, you earn coins for completing levels and completing your daily words so that's how I am still playing the free version. I'm up to level 17. I also love that it’s not just learning words, you put together sentences and it also speaks them out loud so you hear the correct way to pronounce words and speak sentences. I'm so glad I found this game. I have lost interest in other language learning apps but not this one. It's so engaging and fun. Hats off to you developer!!
Fun and challenging
by Anknoif
Update: I've had this game for a while and played up to Level 300, still never spent a penny. I LOVE this game! It has helped me expand my Spanish vocabulary and better understand sentence-building, all while playing a goody match game with fun stuff like word bombs, hamburgers, and bubbles. This is a genius idea for a word game, and tbh I'm considering buying premium just to support the developers because this game is so brilliant.
My Original Review: Everyone complaining that this game costs too much money is a fool. You don't have to spend a cent to enjoy this game. Yes, you do run out of moves or lives sometimes, but that is called "difficulty," which apparently a lot of previous reviewers cannot handle.
This game builds vocabulary rapidly, and it is also a strategic kind of match game at the same time. Because you are matching Spanish words with their English translations, it is not as mindlessly easy as something like candy crush. The game forces you to think strategically with the words you match.
This game is a lot of fun and just the right amount of challenging to keep me coming back. I've never spent a penny on it & see no need to.
I’ve had the Spanish Word App game since 2021. I started playing again and it is trying to charge me for almost ALL access. I cannot get any new word lists , the augmentations are all charge based , and it’s set up to the point where the puzzles are near impossible to solve without paying.
