I've restored my purchase and made it as far as the "start watching" button, but when I click it nothing happens. I've deleted the app and reinstalled twice. I have a subscription until Sept 7, 2023 so I don't understand why it's not working.

Charged Immediately for “free” trial.

Downloaded this for my preschooler. It offered two subscription plans each with a supposed 7 day free trial period. I chose the yearly and was immediately billed $50+ dollars. This was before I had any chance to evaluate the app as all functionality is hidden behind the paywall. You can’t even see what books are included in the app. Ultimately got a refund through iTunes. Also wasn’t impressed with the app. It leans too far from reading and is more akin to watching TV with subtitles. I prefer similar apps like the Sandra Boynton Load Crow apps that let the child click the words, interact, and develop their reading skills. This is just passive absorption. Do not recommend.

Good app, bad update

2022-05-12

by Dusst

New update is slow, and it doesn’t let to keep it in horizontal view unless you are watching a book. So you’re constantly having to rotate the iPad from the menu to the book. Also things just load slowly and are unresponsive to touch inputs.

Edit: The past week, the app opens past the beginning load screen, but then completely goes to a white screen and doesn’t load anything after. I’ve tried deleting and redos loading the app as well as updating iOS but nothing works. The app just won’t won’t load. Website still works great, so I’ll just be using that til the bugs are ironed out.

Using a first gen iPad Pro. Would think that would be a problem, but maybe that helps.

New update makes it unusable

We have loved Vooks for over a year and the new books they continue to add, BUT this new update has made it completely impossible to use. It stays in portrait mode even if the iPad is locked in landscape (which is mostly just annoying), removed all our saved favorites, but the main issue is it keeps quitting the app every time I try starting any book. Maybe it’s because my iPad is a few years old, but this is so frustrating that it used to work great and doesn’t anymore. Plus my kids have no interest in sitting around for it while it glitches over and over. Please fix it this so it works again, and not just for the newest devices.
