My friend and I have been enjoying playing many of these games, especially the advanced level ones which we play together because of the difficulty. And then we got to Haunted Hunt. I have never played a more inane and absurd game in all my life, and that includes the games I played with my children when they were toddlers. At first, being able to switch between human and animal was interesting. It made sense, for example, that the attic space above the seance room was too small for me to fit in as a human. But then I was able to not only lift the metal gauntlets—made for a grown man—but also take them into the same tiny attic space and put them on my wings in order to scoop up the silver musket ball. As we played on, the puzzles got more and more random and nonsensical. Trying to figure out from the map the codes for the traps was absolutely incomprehensible madness. There was no skill involved, no way to figure out the meaning behind the acceptable answers. It’s hard to explain how bizarre it was! I did give it one star, however, because it was kind of fun to drink three glasses of wine and then dive into the insanity pool that this game is. And one more thing, where the heck was Joan??

During this unprecedented time in our global history when we’re all inside thanks to the Covid quarantine, my escape room partner and I have had to content ourselves with online escape/adventure games. We thought we had hit on a nice compilation with your series. We played many of them and found them clever albeit slightly average in difficulty, but all in all a nice way to consume some time. Then we landed on The Covenant and have mutually decided never to play another of your games again. Murdering animals, gratuitously and for no truly good reason, and in a way that defies explanation and good sense might be fine for some, but it’s not for us. Animals used as a source of food is one thing, but to watch an animal suffer and die a torturous death is something that should never be put in a wannabe fun and mindbending escape game. Of course, with The Covenant, you crossed so many lines of good taste that we hardly know where to start. But the murder of animals is sufficient. I advise you all, everyone on your team, to rethink your strategy and rethink your collective mindset toward murder, gore and gratuitous nonsense… especially when it comes to innocent creatures. Bye bye.

I have played all of the Adventure Escape Mystery games and was appalled and exceedingly disturbed by the conversational content of the new Puzzle Lovers game. They have choices such as “Let’s get naked”, “I would have hooked up with all of them”, “Let’s get in bed together and see what happens”, and “I’m so horny.” It is overtly and explicitly sexual, completely unacceptable and unnecessary. This game is rated 12+ but my daughter plays these games, and I do not appreciate the fact that they have these phrases included.
I would hope that this game would be updated to remove these grotesquely and obscene remarks. One thing I like about the other games are the subtler hints at romance while uncovering the mystery, not about “getting it on”. I enjoy the stories and the mysteries, with the exception of Puzzle Lovers, and the comments distract from the mysteries. They made me feel extremely uncomfortable. The sexual remarks are the worst thing I have ever seen in a children’s game and am completely abhorred. There are several other ways this game could incorporate romance and romantic phrases without being crass.
