80s Mania Wrestling Returns Reviews

Wish there were more customization options without having to spend money. I like this more than the modern day version, which feels a little bloated and needlessly detailed, but I would like the option to choose PPVs, change the disposition of wrestlers, and be able to push and de-push at will. The added variety and customization without having to spend money would go a long ways towards keeping this game enjoyable. As it is, most of my enjoyment comes from maxing out stats on wrestlers. I prefer Extreme Warfare Revenge for a wrestling booker sim, but this is a an enjoyable one if you don’t have a PC available.

Was having fun with the game up until the last update and would have given the game a 4 star rating instead of 3. Since the update the rotation of cards through the store is broken. Currently the ONLY cards that are available are jobbers, openers and match types. Before the update they used to rotate through legendary, upper mid card and mid card wrestlers, but haven’t seen any since the update. It is getting brining now to just wait for a shop refresh to only see new cards you have zero interest in. I would love to hear if this change was purposeful or if they accidentally jacked up the store.

I’ve been playing for a few days now and it is a lot of fun, however, some of the cards I purchased from the shop are completely missing.

For example, I bought the shark off of the shop, and when I went to try and book him into a match he’s completely missing. I went through the news and it says that he joined my organization, but he is completely missing when I try to book him.

I even started a new game to hope that would fix it but it did not :(.

This is amazing lol. I really like this game and the nostalgia it brings! It’s done beautifully and in absolute accordance with the nature of 80s and 90s wrestling glory days!

The characters are absolutely awesome as they’re representing different aspects of pop culture during these two decades, along with the WWF-esque territory.

Only suggestion is perhaps include a little more into incorporating the player during matches, and having a card that can be added that automatically guarantees the character will win the match, if there already is—pardon my ignorance! Maybe a full version so we don’t have to pay for things outside of add’l wrestlers, events, etc.

I love this game, and the monthly updates keep it entertaining. I have play through several times . I like that I can play 2 different federationsJust a few things I would love to see added in the future to make it even better. Add a few more titles such as women’s tag team , six man tag team, US tag team titles, possibly a tycoon title, and or hardcore title. Maybe add new monthly event possibilities such as the 80’s War games match or the gauntlet match and a tag team tournament or best 2 out of three falls. Keep up the good work and growing this game.

This is a fun game easy to play with some good strategy once you unlock more than the basic cards. Money system is very fair and you can easily grind your way to what ever cards you want after cashing in a couple of tokens of which you get once a game year. While you can’t fully control the outcome of a match using the cards that modify a wrestlers push can greatly nudge things the way you want to go. This game is perfect for mobile as it plays in 2 - 3 minutes chunks once you get the hang of the card system.

I love the game and I’ve been playing it daily for a while now but I have one thing I’d like to be tweaked in the game. Can you make it so when you get a different version of a wrestler they’re history follows all the cards. For example I had this wrestler who went 54 - 11 in his matches when I only had his base card. But when I got his foil card which made him better all the championships he won and those wins only stayed with the base card. I’d like to to pass on with all versions of the card since they are the same wrestlers. Great game still.

I’ve always been intrigued by fantasy bookers like TEW on PC but they seem like a major commitment. I randomly found 80s Mania years ago because of the Colt Cabana Podcast and have been hooked since. The game is absolutely incredible. It’s easy to use, pick up and play, but complex in the way your actions can effect the game. The wrestlers are over stylized versions of people you know and recognize or super cool original creations.

I have a massive roster now and I’m aiming for start rating matches but some of the most fun I had was starting with nothing and booking my way to first place.

If you’re checking reviews and on the fence, give this a try. It’s addictive. And an added bonus is that the “in-app purchases” aren’t necessary at all to enjoy it. Have I bought things? Many times. But it was a personal choice not because I felt tapped out like other games.

Excellent game; highly recommend for any wrestling fan.
Great gimmicks, great gameplay and really holds your interest.
It is the ONLY game I have ever considered buying game money on.
My only suggestion/comment is - if I purchase a random main eventer or legendary, it only they are guaranteed to be active in the current year. However, they could be active for only another month or year. If I had a guarantee purchased cards would be active for several years then I would spend real money on the game. Also daily cards are often already inactive so it doesn’t pay to buy them.

This game is truly a joy to play! You get to book the card the way you want and build towards the “Pay4Views”. Tons of good stuff to say about the game.

With that said, I also have some suggestions to make it even better.

1. Make the special matches like “falls count anywhere” feel different by maybe changing the background to like a different place in the arena...to make it feel like a falls count anywhere match. Special matches should also give better star ratings since we are paying to have them on the card(if they don’t already)

2. If the titles are on the line, maybe show them somewhere on the screen to display that this match is for the titles. Especially after the match, show them above the character who wins head or something? Just makes the title feel more special.

3. I love the special cards like “screw job” to really help me decide who wins and what direction I wanna go towards a p4v, but I’d love more cards like that. Maybe like a “cheat to win” card that basically guarantees a W for a bad guy or a “comeback” card to guarantee the W for the good guy? The ones that only offer 4 push a lot of times still lose when I play them for some reason?

4. More feud cards!!! I love finding new feuds, but I also think some of them should guarantee more stars too...like Average Guy v. Jet setter for example.

This game puts you in charge as the booker. You are now seeing games pop up advertising the same thing calling themselves “wrestling manager” games or what not but these guys did it first. You get to pick who you want to push. It’s easy to build guys up. Some take more time than others. You have 20 years to book and when you’re done there you can start again with another one of the three companies to choose from.
I have never spent a dime and have been playing this game on a kinda regular basis for about 2 years and I have almost collected all the wrestlers. At this point I thing I have 15 left.. and yes there are A LOT OF WRESTLERS IN THIS GAME! Most are parodies of well known wrestlers (you’ll know them when you see them) so it’s got something for the spenders as well as keeps a level playing ground for the free players so I heavily advise trying this game!!

This game is awesome. Very simple and enjoyable. I love the numerous references to 80s and 90s culture. Also loving the additions of the triple threat matches and tag team feuds. I’ve been playing this game since the original version and it’s still so fun to me. I just have a few suggestions though. 1. Could the timer for the shop be lowered from 12 to 8 or 6? I’d like to see more card options in one day without using a coin. 2. Can the ladies be used more often then once or twice a month? I’d like to use them in matches weekly. 3. Raise the selling price for merchandise? I think it’s just a bit too low.

I never do these, write reviews, but I gotta give it up to the developers of this game. This is the only game I’ve ever tried on my Iphone and it’s been such an awesome experience it’s really all I need. I’m currently in year 1992 and the past 12 seasons have been filled with unique content and killer matchmaking. In a time where games find so many ways to charge the consumer this game gives back to the player which keeps the experience going. I personally love this game, it’s one of only a couple that I have made in game purchases, and I’ve played quite awhile. One thing I would love to see in a future update is an option to change a regular one on one match to a tag team match. I love tag teams and would like to use my teams more. Another idea is being able to book hot feuds on consecutive cards without penalty. But only hot feuds that’s listed as such in the news section. In wrestling if a program is hot you want to book that on as many shows as possible because that program is drawing the most money.

I’ve played this game on and off now for 4 years!
It just keeps getting better and better! They always add stuff, always tweaking, always improving. They don’t used “real” wrestlers but anyone who was a fan of 80s and 90s wrestling and/or pop culture gets the many many references. It’s a simulator not an action game but it makes me smile, is fun and brings that nostalgic feeling I enjoy thoroughly. I don’t get bored with the game I just have busy seasons where I simply don’t have time. But even then I can usually do a show or few to keep the game moving and to check out some new features. I recommend the game to any golden era or attitude era wrestling fan. Enjoy!

Ladies & Gents!!! This is an AMAZING Wrestling Game. So AUTHENTIC and original! If you were/are a fan of wrestling, music, TV, Movies, Pop Culture, this is an AWESOME game for you…relive the moments of the 80s with musical feuds, wrestling feuds, TV feuds, make up your own feuds. Always being updated and the game has so much more potential. It’s almost overload because there are so many characters…and IT’S ALL FREE!!!! You need not spend a penny on this game and still wind up getting the same exact things as those that do spend money. Patience, play and dedication gets you the exact same thing as the guys “whaling” on the game (spending money for you older folks like myself). ENJOY THIS GAME!! Their customer service is helpful but most of all, accessible as well!!! LOVE IT!

I downloaded this game because I have yet played a good wrestling game for IOS. I liked the artwork and nostalgia and the more I played the more the game sucked me in. The little nuances and mechanics is what kept me playing. I got hooked on collecting all the Legendary cards. You can play this game and grind to get all the cards for totally no real money. I however payed for tokens and I almost have every card( skit, venues, skits and foil cards.) I now have all the wrestlers and foils. Now you’d think having all the cards might cut down on replay ability but they come out with new cards and concepts every month. The creators are always listening to the fans and continually deliver on making this game better for their supporters. I cannot express how munch fun this awesome game is.

I wanted an app for a wrestling game that was fun to play, I didn’t have to tap until my fingers bled, didn’t have to time a tap just right to win, and go at my own pace.

It’s more like a strategy card game, but you choose: the match, the match type, the managers, the venue, etc. Weekly shows and a Pay 4 View event (spoofing Pay Per View) at the end of the month. Game money is awarded based on how well you did, which can unlock more wrestlers, managers, venues, etc. You can use real money to purchase in game money too, but that’s up to you. The game is extremely laid back about it and is not pushy/put it in your face to purchase things with real money (like A LOT of apps do).

The game is a spoof of 80s and 90s pro wrestling, but most wrestlers are identifiable, like Pierre The Enormous is spoofing the real life French giant. Some pop culture characters from that time period are included too. The game developers are actively adjusting the game to bring the best experience to you that they can! New things are added about once a month-new wrestler, feature, etc.

For a free download, it’s among the best I’ve ever played! Very fun and if you liked pro wrestling during the 80s and 90s, I strongly encourage you to get 80sManiaWrestlingReturns!

This is a very fun and addicting game. I enjoy the format and interface. The parody in this game is very entertaining. I’m only 2 game-years into my promotion, but I already have a few suggestions on experience improvements...

I would like to see all wrestlers represented in the World Title rankings. Cruiser-weights are not listed in world title rankings, even if one beats a non-cruiser in the top 5. They only show up in TV, Cruiser, and Tag rankings. Right now, Moon Trooper and Caesar Sleaze, who are openers, tend to show up in my top 5 consistently due to most of my roster being cruiser-weights. Sometimes they makes it to number one without wrestling matches. Their records are dismal while others have great records and consistently defeat the likes of Trooper and Sleaze.

I would like to see ties/draws in W/L rankings.

I think it would be interesting to see feuds play out as well. For example, if wrestler A attacks and injures wrestler B backstage, then wrestler B automatically gets a revenge match sometime after returning from injury. Much like how a title match is already booked by the game if someone wins a contenders match at a prior show.

This may be too much, but I think it would great if the game could track heel/face turns and reflect as much on the cards. Dr. B has needed to turn babyface for a while now!

Anyway, I love the game!

It’s addicting, interesting, and nostalgic, and easy to pick up and play for any length of time. As a fan of Extreme warfare, this is a gem of a strategy game that is fast paced, streamlined, and easy to learn. The card collection aspect is a lot of fun and the artwork and wrestling likenesses are charming and clever. Has nice and reasonable pay options but most importantly they are not required for the full experience which makes the game incredibly accessible and adds an additional level of challenge for someone who wants to do it all without purchasing anything
