DO NOT DOWNLOAD!!!

This game is a scam made by a lone developer, not an actual team/company. Also there are multiple reviews of people that have payed for in game items and never received them or gotten a refund. In addition, earlier I wrote a review about fixing an ad that plays loudly in the background and on repeat that eventually makes the frame rates drop to the point where the game is unplayable. A couple hours later I open the game up to play and something that sounds like a voicemail of a guy saying blah blah blah starts to play that is then followed by loud music and then is followed by the loud ad right after and these both play on repeat simultaneously. Clearly this guy must have read my review and didn’t like it because it wasn’t until after I wrote the review that I started to hear this voicemail play in game. I’ve since deleted the game because it’s clearly broken and the developer is just out to scam people for their money. There are plenty of better games out there made by actual development teams that are professional and make games that actually work.

Great game, huge problem. No app support.

I rarely write reviews for games in general, but seeing as I couldn’t find a single option for any kind of app support, I’m not really sure where to post this. I’ll start by saying this game is incredibly fun, think fallout meets turn based strategy. Overall I only really have one complaint, but it’s a huge deal breaker for me. The ad banner. When the banner is active, it literally covers a huge portion of the game screen, which on its own is a scummy business practice that I find incredibly obnoxious. Normally I don’t have a problem with ads, assuming they’re not intrusive, but this one covers up a bunch of important info about the game (how many caps and tokens you have, your level, your day count) to the point where the game is almost unplayable while it’s active.

That being said, I decided to support the dev by purchasing the $4.99 monthly subscription, the main reason being that it supposedly removes the ad banner. That didn’t happen. All of the other “perks” (which were negligible btw) are active, and restoring my purchases gives me a “subscription is active” notification, but the ad banner still pops up constantly. It’s at the point where I don’t want to play the game on principle alone. I’m hoping this is something that can be resolved, because I genuinely enjoy this game, but until it is I will not be playing anymore.

Lovely game before updates

I downloaded this game a few months ago and I was obsessed right away. New updates came along shortly after which did add excitement and really cool new features but unfortunately the bad is outweighing the good at this point. First update I noticed all my quests were losing their titles and details so it was almost impossible to do my quests, which is fine I mean I had a lot of caps so I wasn’t too worried. A few updates I believe after that I’m now also running into the issue that my game is crashing about every 5-10mins. I do understand this game is in the motions of getting a lot of improvements and updates but I do think the most important thing is a reliable game. It’s hard to feel like you aren’t completely wasting your time when you’re relaxing playing a game and repetitively losing progress every few minutes. Also one more note, when I started there was billboards with ads which I didn’t mind at all, if anything it was fun to read/watch the different little signs but now there’s ads popping up at the bottom into my screen halfway and it’s extremely annoying. And now in almost every screen in the game there’s billboards so you shouldn’t feel the need to have ads expanding up across most of my screen while I play. :( this game is one of the best games Iv seen in TheWanderer Store I really don’t want it to turn bad.

Laggy and glitchy

Super cool game! I’m not going to lie I’m hooked, but it’s been repeatedly glitching and giving me a black screen which forces me to exit TheWanderer and restart it every 20 minutes. At some point, it smoked my iphone and continued playing the background music even though I exited the application. My phone then wouldn’t turn off even when I was pressing the power button. It ended up restarting my entire phone without consent and it’s still being glitchy. But again, the concept of the game is amazing, I just think this game is better played on newer phone models or even a computer. UPDATE!!! Knocked it down a couple stars because I can no longer play the game. I am able to open it but it immediately freezes and forces me to restart it.
UPDATE #2 I’m sorry but I have to uninstall this game it’s unplayable at this point…the ads continue to run but the game itself won’t. I’m positive the devs just overloaded the game with these ads in a selfish attempt to earn more money and ruined a great game…

Please Read: Bug After Update

Very fun game! Not pay to win and definitely time manageable. The only reason why it’s 3 stars is so the developer can see my description below of other bugs that I found, as well as my van parts disappearing even after the latest update.

Van Parts: I have been using my van for quite a few days now and have never had van parts disappear on me. I even collected multiple pieces of certain parts of the van in my storage in case parts of my van broke off, such as 1 cable, 3 car batteries, etc. Right after I updated the game to the latest version today, all of my duplicated parts disappeared and I am left with just 1 of each duplicated item. I checked my van when I realized that and my van was still usable with no parts missing. I went on to play a bit more and saved the game before exiting, but when I returned to the game, I lost all of my van parts in my van (the ones that I had in my storage are still there but I do not have enough to use the van). I know the developer is working on this bug so thank you. I just wanted to state my situation with the van parts disappearing in hopes it may help with fixing the bug.

Other Bugs: After the update, my progress on locations got erased. Usually when you discover a town, the name of the town will show. After the update, all of the town names disappeared and became ???. Also, normally you can see a description of what you have found at locations that you have been to, but that was erased for me too.

Good potential but needs work

It’s a good idea for a game, and is usually fun, but has some significant issues that need work. The main one is the demand it seems to have on your device. This is the only mobile game I’ve ever played that actually causes my phone to heat up and slow down. It gets to the point where I can only play for about 3 minutes or so before the game gets too jumpy and I’m unable to even do the fight task with the moving bar.
Secondly, the map is really is pretty annoying to use. I’ll try to click the “x” on a message and it’ll select a part of the map. It also is too sensitive to the touch and is hard to control scrolling around the map. Lastly, there’s not much explanation as to what you’re really supposed to be doing in the game. For instance, I’ve played quite a bit already and haven’t even finished the first objective (finding the radio), because there’s no indication of where to go or what to look for.

I’m short, I was optimistic at the start of the game but then quickly realized how frustrating it was to actually get to operate correctly. Definitely no more than 3 stars but if they improve these issues could be 4 or even 5 eventually.

Pretty good, but a little unclear

I love this game, it’s like if 7 days to die was mobile and pixelated. But the car, which is arguably your biggest asset, you need to buy with real world currency. Despite the fact that you spend so much time just getting the stuff you need to make it, and you still need to pay for it on top of all that work. Another issue is that it is unclear in the beginning what crafting is, and how to do it, because of this you end up not getting the stuff you need for a shower or a water purifier, when if you had, you’d be way better off than living with a mutation you can’t cure, and poor because you have spent all your caps on food water, and extra storage, which is another that is unclear, I didn’t realize you could expand your storage until my second run. All that being said, it is a good game and it is worth it. You don’t actually need the car, it’s just harder without it, which I guess is part of challenge. You don’t need a water purifier. But you do need more storage space that’s for sure.

It’s AMAZING🤩.. but lags and glitches a bit

Hi I absolutely first of all want to say that this game is amazing but it has potential. It is a great game and it offers a good and unique experience but it kinda ruins the fun when the game randomly freezes, glitches or lags/crashes and so that’s a problem. Not only it does not let you enjoy the game but it spoils the fun of the game. My point is can you PLEASE fix the lags and crashes in the game it would be much more wonderful oh and please have more weapon options in the game that’s would also be wonderful. Lastly, I have a few suggestions to make the game a bit better: can you please add more outfit options and maybe even face options such as a smile or straight line could be fine oh and of course please fix the problems of the game that I already expressed above.. THANK YOU SO VERY MUCH! I am so sorry for wasting your time and energy with this long review but it’s for the potential and very best for this game :)

Pretty good strategy rpg

I don’t normally write reviews, but I feel this game deserves one. The visuals are surprisingly easy to look at and the game flows in an interesting way. First off, it’s strange how you can only sell things for incredibly cheap prices. It’s basically not worth selling anything at all, and that means a lot of the economy in the game is quiet frankly horrible. You use your caps to pay for upgrades or but expensive merchandise. You can’t pay other survivors for their items, you can only trade what you already have. I’m also unsure of what tokens are still and I’ve been playing for roughly a collective hour, which for mobile games can be some time. Although I have issues with the economy, I enjoy the rpg of the game, the combat system is quite fun if you don’t switch it, and going place to place hoping for the right items can be kind of nice. You have to balance what you bring, or pay to upgrade your space. I’m not too far into the game yet, but I recommend the play, especially since it’s free with so few ads.

Fun and engaging, but a few rough edges

So far I’m quite enjoying The Wanderer. The gameplay isn’t hugely varied but that hasn’t seemed to limit my desire to expand further and progress my character. There is enough detail in the mechanics, and the game itself if well balanced enough that it’s still a tightrope walk to make sure you don’t stray too far outside your effective range and get stomped on.

The downsides are mainly the rough edges for what I assume is either a relatively new game, or one which has grown a rapidly. The most recent update added full-time banner ads at the top of the screen and was crudely done - the ads obscure part of the status info up there. They also appear over the in-game ads which you’ll need to use in order to fast travel, unless you have extra deep pockets to pay your way through the game.

I also find the portrait layout rather frustrating as I keep my iPad in a keypad case, which means that the iPad becomes very awkward to hold. There are some other minor gripes, but I’m sure they will get polished up in the coming months as there does seem to be active development and improvement going on (hopefully those interface issues will be resolved.)

Way better now than it was

I started playing this almost 2 years ago and then got bored with it as everything had been maxed out and it just became no fun. I decided to download and play it again and I like the additional survival settings you can add that make the play a lot more challenging. The mutant encounters may not drop items, but the experience points are a lot greater and they drop a nice amount of caps, which is helpful to increase inventory so you don’t have to keep throwing stuff away. There is a glitch with the trader when I want to sell at times. It will show slots for items I don’t have and won’t let it pull up the items in my inventory that I need to sell because of those zero item placeholders. I have managed to get it to reset by leaving and re-entering the camp trader a couple of times, which is a little annoying but it works. All in all it’s a nice little diversion to play when you have some free time to burn waiting or at lunch.

True gem. Please download if you like post apocalyptic games you can get lost in.

I don’t usually play games on my phone. I was going through a bad break up and I was lonely and I saw this game advertised to me on the front page of the games in the iPhone store. I didn’t really look it up but from the description I was like what the heck? I love sci-fi, I love, RPG games, I love the whole post apocalypse vibe, and the whole survival thing is super fun and it’s easy to get lost in. this game will consume you. It is beautifully made. I’ve even shown my friends this game and they just love to watch me play it and they love to play it and this game is super. Super cool. When I showed my friends this game they told me that it was super cool, and they were enthralled and tuned in. That’s exactly what I was looking for because sometimes life is hard and you just need a little game to escape and this is perfect, it’s intricate, it’s well-made, you might think it’s easier at first but oh, trust me, it tailors to help you play. That’s all I’m gonna say without giving any spoilers, so yeah, go ahead and just download this. You’re doing yourself a favor and it’s better than spending money on a night out when you can just get lost in a sci-fi world of your own.

Plenty to do but improvement is possible

I found myself distracted from work, school and Other video games I was playing at the time traveling hour by hour to and from abandoned houses l, pharmacies and junkie playgrounds finding items that can further me getting a larger backpack, camp storage or even fixing up a car! Overall I think this game has everything you could ask for from trading to combat (with stats) however the only flaw I can see right now is the value of items. I understand certain ones have to be expensive or else you could get some of the late game items for cheap but it feels weird when I can trade someone 2 screws 2 nails and a bag of chips for a handgun, it’s a lot to ask the devs to re-evaluate the value of these things (and others) so I won’t, it’s only game breaking if you know the specific cakes of everything and in order to do that efficiently you would have had to play the game for an eminence time anyways.

The epitome of all epic post apocalyptic games

I have tried long and hard to find a good game that involves some sort of post apocalyptic scene, but to no avail. This game is literally chill while also being strangely addictive. It starts out feeling complicated but it turns out to be very simple. There are three steps to have fun that I learned: 1: Pay attention to your storage. If you exceed the amount without noticing you’ll lose items over time, and it’s very frustrating. 2: Notice your crafting table. It seems dumb at first then becomes very helpful. 3: A lot of weapons break quickly, so if you use skill points to upgrade strength, you can do decent damage with just your fists and now knife, or nail bat. But overall: this game is one of my top three favs for sure. Highly recommended.
One thing though: when you encounter things or people, it’d be cool if there was some kind of encounter animation when you meet people/traders/bandits/mutes
But yeah great game

Interesting and fun

I really enjoy this game a lot. I used to play Fallout Shelter, but it got boring over time. I came across this game after doing some research and I fell in love with it. I really like the set up of the game and that it lets you tap to fast travel a hour of gameplay when you’re traveling to new or old locations. You can collect different items while traveling and searching the world. It also lets you upgrade your characters skills and you get to choose which skill you want to upgrade which is cool. You also run into bad guys out in the world, and you choose to fight them and take their inventory items, or simply run away, it’s completely up to you and doesn’t force you to fight. I haven’t ran into any ads or anything annoying which makes the game a lot more appealing and fun. If you enjoy fallout games, this game is for you!!!

Been journeying for over 10,000 days

An addicting game, you play The Wanderer at your own pace, rationing supplies to keep you (and a pet?) alive in a radioactive future. A few things I’ve noticed- 1) the “(best)” pet level score keeps climbing past what my best actually was. It’s essentially adding my new pet’s level to my old pet’s level, so it’s inaccurate. 2) I’ve accidentally thrown away too many valuable items because of the size and location of the button. PLEASE add a confirmation screen before throwing away. 3) Charisma doesn’t seem to decrease any prices. In fact I’ve only noticed increases. (I am also able to SELL my items for more, but you should also be able to BUY for less). 4) With MAX Intelligence, at danger area 3/5, my attack success with a pipe should be higher than 66%. 5) The “please consider rating our game” screen did not redirect me to this page. I had to seek it out.

Great Game, Update Poses Some Issues

So far, the game has been great. The last update, however, has created a major issue: none of my consumables appear in my storage or bag, and the only way i even know i have them is when I'm selling or the weight of the bag/storage. This means i can not eat or drink at all, and currently i risk death. Because of this, i can’t travel. Until this gets fixed, the game is useless.

Aside from the issues with the recent update, the game has been fantastic and I have enjoyed playing it. It is very simple and easy to understand, and there are always challenges along the way. I especially like the fact that i just developed a mutation that gives me radiation immunity, that was very realistic. On the whole, the game is actually pretty realistic and as soon as the issue above is fixed I look forward to playing it more.

Very Promising, with Few Flaws

I’ve only been playing the game for a bit and I love it so far, the leveling system, music, and simplistic art style really sells this game to me. That being said there are a few aspects of the game that break the immersion. For example, while exploring you may uncover some caps, and in certain events the game will not tell how many were found. Found items are also not specified and must be checked for. Items are unusable when the game first begins, among a few other things.

Aside from these quality of life changes though, the item system should also be re-evaluated. Various items with obvious differences in size, such as a hand saw, a food can, and a small pill bottle take up equal amounts of space. Aside from these fairly minor bothers though, the remainder of the game is rock solid.

It would be cool to see if the game could be built up even further though, such as having different music depending on the weather and time of day, and more detailed backgrounds, such as ones that show the locations you arrive at.

Fun game, regrettable choices.

Hi devs, your game is fun, I remember so much about the old version and this current version is an great improvement of it. This was once a black, pixelated character running, you had to survive as long as possible keeping needs high and trading whenever you want. Clean water and canned food was rare in this version and I see this game as a great improvement from it. Here is some tips for beginner players: 1. Don’t go too far into the map until you get stronger. Because if your too weak and get attacked, it’s your fault you went into an area, with dangerous properties. 2. Think about your choices. Choosing reckless choices can get you badly hurt. Think about it, is it dangerous? Will illness or radiation get to you if you make that choice? Think about how dangerous the options could be and pick a safer one before you get stronger. 3. Don’t spend all your skill points on one stat. Seriously, I did that with luck and I barely lived to see another day. I think the med kits i got from it was the only reason I lived. 4. Don’t give up and reset the run, you might be able to get out of that hopeless situation. Trust me, I did it before with radiation in the oldest versions I could play.

Possible Enhancements?

I’ve been playing this game for a long time and I rarely leave reviews. This is a game that I put down every once in a while but always come back to because I love the play style and perk systems. I’ve bought a few of the packs to ease the long journeys a bit, but the packs are never pushed on you. It’s there if you want it. I wish with paying for premium it would include a feature to skip adds and get the reward free, I’ve seen many other games do this. Also I wish there was a way you could implement a system where the player could reset their map without having to start a new game, to continue leveling but still be able to get a fresh experience when all is explored. Keep up the excellent work and can’t wait for The Wanderer 2!
