Pretty good synchronization when not background

Not sure that any synchronization happens (“insant upload?”) until we actively open ownCloud and check on status.

Wish list items:
> Show size of files on status screen
> Show real progress (like 3MB of 12MB uploaded) on status
> Allow “hold (until released)” “defer (move to end)” (or maybe a 1-9 [default 5] priority value) on status screen - get important stuff synced first
> Make status list items selectable so that clicking on an item will show the picture/video, et cetera. (Would be useful in other views too)
> Show thumbnail view on status (and other) screens
> Periodic notification that files are not synchronizing
> Automatic retrieson some schedule or at some interval

BIG PROBLEM!

For everyone that is reading this. Please do not try to have a conflict on files. ownCloud based on my testing has no idea how to handle conflicts. So it will enter this weird state which it keep try to upload the new version, but the server keep rejecting it, and there is no way for you to stop or cancel the uploading process, so you will go into this infinite upload mode. Reboot doesn’t help.

Authentication bug

Works great but keeps complaining about failed authentication. It still seems to work but the constant warnings make it annoying to use.

Amazing!

If you want to manage you own cloud storage these guys are great! Setup of this app on my Debian box was a breeze and have mobile apps and desktop apps of great quality is amazing. Thank you!

New app is terrible

The new app hardly works and is extremely slow. Most of the time it just shows the spinning loading circle and never displays the files. If you close ownCloud and then reopen it sometimes it will then show the files, but most of the time it’s nearly useless.

Auto Upload Not Working

I enabled Auto Upload for Photos and Videos but is not working. I bought $2 subscription option as well but Auto Upload is not working. I tried reinstalling ownCloud but Auto Upload is not working. Such a let down by this app.

keeps constantly crashing. what's the point?

I gave this app an honest try. but since the last weeks all the iPhone app does is crash over and over again! so literally what's the point?I rather pay money... to have a working solution. so goodbye.

Works OK

Auto upload of photos never works until I specifically open ownCloud and watch the backlog of uploads go through

By

Poor

As usual, even with redesign it is poor and crashes all the time I try upload photos. No different from other versions.

Used to be great, new version leaves a lot to be desired

The old legacy version had a quirk or two, but generally worked great and was very usable. I find this new version is clumsy, confusing and frankly not all that useful. It complicates what used to be simple.

For example, it used to be simple to move images to and from your this app account - now it's a real pain. Used to be able to mark pictures to upload to this app right from the camera roll. Not anymore - now you have to switch to the this app app, scroll around and find the image, then upload them. That's annoying. I purchased the PRO features, hoping this would improve the situation. Nope, still can't do it. So I tried turning on the Auto Upload Photos feature. That was a mistake, especially since I have 256Gb iPhone, and there's about 50Gb of pictures on it... There's no granularity, it's all or nothing I guess.

The duplicate file button is really irritating. Way too easy to hit.

If this app supported connecting directly from the iOS files app, this this app app would be mostly unnecessary. iOS files app works with Dropbox, google drive, OneDrive and others.

There's very little documentation available. Sure hope this gets better, as there is a lot to be said for having control of your data.

Mostly Unusable

I don’t want to say ownCloud is worthless, well maybe I do. The idea behind ownCloud is good but the execution is horrible let me explain. I have this app app on my iOS devices as well as my Mac. If I make a change to a file in this app on the Mac it may or my not sync depending on what MOOD this app is in at the time, in fact it NEVER syncs. Uploading file from iOS devices of have the same results.

If I got to my server and deplete file and clear out cached data to app still shows the files and if I try to delete them for iOS it says files locked or “unable to sync loading cached data”. There is no way to clear cached data in ownCloud , I usually wind up deleting and reinstalling ownCloud . Sometimes that works sometimes not.

I’m sorry I paid for a years subscription even though it was only $2. If you’re considering a personal cloud use NextCloud they have none of these issues and ownCloud is free.

Next time I’ll believe the reviews.

Better with each release

Keep up the great work!

I can’t even use this app.

I have a fairly large this app account with tens of thousands of pics along with quite a few other files.

Every time I run ownCloud it says it is downloading pictures. It is an endless list of pics that are downloading. ownCloud is useless. I think it might be downloading all of my pics to ownCloud , which would fill my storage completely, but I can’t find a way to stop it.

ownCloud is unusable for me. The old app is broken now and won’t even work. I have loved this app, but I am considering just going back to Dropbox at this time.

Be Careful

Good app, it works a LOT better than the old app. However, be very careful when scrolling as it is far too easy to drag a folder into another one by accident. Either remove the feature or give me an option to disable it, I much prefer using the ellipse menu for moving folders anyway.

Losing features in new release

Disappointing that one of the simplest of utilities - in-app text editor - has been removed in this version.

I’ve always been frustrated with self-signed certificate issues and accepted that as forever broken.

By

Broken integration with files

Can no longer open this app files in any other app. Completely breaks usability with many things.

Needs fixing ASAP

My PDF’s will not update like it used to. Now I have to convert every pdf to jpeg in order to update my documents. Not good,
please fix. I have a lot of work to redo.

Bugs and no reaction to e-mails

ownCloud has a bug that requires me to reboot the iPad whenever something is done via the files app. I did not get any reaction to multiple e-mails.

By

Won’t work

ownCloud will not let me open documents, ownCloud could be so much better if they would spend the time to update and fix ownCloud

Terrible

Auto picture upload rarely works. if I navigate to a file and then go up a level, it says the parent folder exist. Sometimes it refuses to open a file, saying the site certificate is invalid. It's a self-signed cert. This application needs a bit of work to be useful. A real shame since I paid for it.
Dev. response makes no sense. There are no crashes to report. I am a Linux user so I don't have iTunes. I expect this to sync to my this app server which had nothing to do with iTunes.

Unused potential

ownCloud has a lot of potential to be a replacement to services like google drive, but falls short in a few ways.

O Can’t remove failed to sync items from the status panel. This makes it so every time ownCloud opens it always hangs on a few files that will never download.

O The local copies are not accessible in the iPad files app. This makes it so that one must first export each individual file to a location in the files app before it can be accessible for other programs to use via their uploading. Additionally I have had issues where if the server was down I would not be able to access my offline files without first closing and reopening ownCloud , because it won’t let you select a user account when it fails to connect to the server. This feature can be accomplished on iOS, because ownCloud BOX has done it. On Android there is an “ocloud for this app” that accomplished this perfectly. Seeing the shift Apple is making on the iPad development this feature would only become more important with time as others start implementing it leaving ownCloud to fall behind.
