Actual Honest Review

For those who truly want to proliferate their understand of programming and not just quickly memorize syntax, but completely understand the true fundamental of programming, which is the ability to solve a problem with an effective solution you can think of on your own; Grasshopper is an absolute waste of your good time.

Not at all for a beginner, in fact you’ll find yourself in absolute frustration especially if you’re eager to have the ability to fill a software development role; since there’s apparently “so many unfilled positions”. Without a doubt, even Google themselves, who is the genesis of Grasshopper, would turn away candidates completing these this app courses alone.

This course has absolutely no structure and will teach certain elements of programming at random, and get you more comfortable with googling solutions on stack overflow then reading and understanding the documentation of the language.

I find it atrocious how such a poorly designed tool for teaching was designed and promoted, quite literally just for tracking and recording of user data.

Shame on you google, you make an absolute mockery of all the software devs and programmers out their, and you’re wasting good peoples with genuine interest in the fields time.

Learning... at a price (your personal information)

I was very excited when I heard about this app. It’s from Google, so I had high expectations for Grasshopper. I wanted to try it out and see if I could use it help teach my kid. Well, I’m never going to have that opportunity as the first thing Grasshopper asks is to sign in using a google account which will share data about you. I can see no reason whatsoever why Google should *require* you to sign in to use Grasshopper. Google team, if your goal is to be altruistic and provide a public service then just make Grasshopper available without requiring sign-in and user tracking. This is pretty shameful especially in light of the Facebook revelations. This is just tone deaf. Quit the tracking!

Ehhh

It’s pretty good if you really understand things but the thing I don’t like is it does not really make sense for me because they just give you information that you expect to memorize. Another problem is if your supposed to type something like ‘eggs’ it does not really show what your supposed to type but only in the beginning. Things that I do like about Grasshopper is they at least try to give us information about coding then you just doing it which will help. What I also like is you do not need a email, profile, or to be giving them your information to be able to start coding! The last thing I like is that they give you short mini quizzes for all the stuff they taught you which will help you see what you are struggling with. So overall I will give it 3 stars since there was 2 problems but over all it was a nice app. I also did a mini paragraph since I’m rushing. 🥵

Torn. Great but...

I was thrilled to find Grasshopper. I was looking for an easy way to start coding. Clean, easy to use, and had links to more detailed support forum pages to discuss and dive into puzzles more of you need it. However, I started to get a little bored with it. It usually spends one puzzle per concept, and hardly has a larger puzzle to combine concepts or challenge the user to think harder than the surface introduction. I would love to see more involved puzzles, that have less step by step guidance to help me think independently about concepts.

So far so good!

I’ve tried learning python in the past. I’ve learned most of the fundamentals & this has been great review. Sometimes it’s easier to figure things out when you have clues (like multiple choices) to help find answer (on your own) easier & eliminate some of the frustration from varies failed attempts at figuring it out in your own. Even though I admit, the failures help to create better character, but sometimes when need some help. Anyway, so far Grasshopper has been great! I am reviewing because Grasshopper is free & it deserves at least an honest rating.

Amazing

I know nothing about coding before this, they make it so simple oh just have to want to learn it. You have to have the drive inside or you won’t be able to make it regardless how easy they make this and they make this so easy even a child can figure this out. I recommend taking notes every step of the way if this isn’t the life your about but believe me when I say this, anyone can do this, anyone can.

This is so useful

2024-12-15

I’m just a child and I got this it may ask you to sign in but I didn’t have to it’s so fun to me it’s a bit complicated but it’s pretty easy I’m only 8 years old but I think this is so fun no joke if your going to get a coding app to learn then get this one it’s so useful And I honestly think I might use this all day
So if your looking for a free coding app get Grasshopper it’s going to help you or your child learn coding

From Me

Awesome app!

2024-12-15

Grasshopper is awesome! I haven’t tried programming since a class ten years ago and after a couple hours I am starting to feel comfortable with it again. It would also work for a brand new programmer. The step by step instructions make complex programs seem manageable, and the feedback helps point you in the right direction when you make a mistake (I’ve made several so far).

Easy to follow and FREE

2024-12-15

I’ve been trying out a bunch of coding apps lately but I always end up deleting them because they all require payment to unlock other courses. But not this app, unlike other apps, this app was really easy to follow, it was simple and it explains concepts quite well. You don’t have to pay a cent for this and that really shows that the developers just want to share their knowledge.

Never too old to start learning

I'm a retried teacher and was looking for a hobby. I've always wanted too learn how to program ever since my high school put in a main frame computer way back in 1983! I started once on a Texas instruments 84 a long time ago. This is much much easier. It goes at a good pace and I can speed up or slow down if I need it. So far so good. Highly recommended

Best Coding App I Have Used

2024-12-15

As an experienced developer myself, I love when I find time to just go over the very basics. I’ve messed around with other coding apps in the past and this is by far the most effective and fun when it comes to learning basic JavaScript! This is very user friendly and allows for anyone—experienced or just a starting out—to quickly be able to learn the fundamentals

My ten year old daughter wants to be a computer scientist when she grows up. To be a software designer it takes hard work and a courageous attitude. I came across Grasshopper and she was more than willing to try it. She loves to explore the coding playground and experiment with different preferences. She has become an advanced coder, and has won an second and place regional award. At to who I owe thanks, this app.

Amazing app for coding!

2024-12-15

Grasshopper was really fun, and there were a few challenges along the way. This allows you to think harder and it is also really fun. Something that I liked is that you unlock different puzzles as you go, so you get different types of puzzles each time. Overall, I think Grasshopper is a great coding app for all ages and really fun to use!!
