I’ve tried this on two separate occasions (the second time was because I convinced myself I must have done something wrong the first time). I get as far as trying to scan my glasses and then PrescriptionScanner just starts repeatedly yelling at me to make sure the dots are visible on my mobile screen. I was holding the phone exactly the same as when I calibrated. I could see the dots clearly. No amount of adjustment fixed the issue either. No other directions about troubleshooting. Just the constant, annoying “make sure the dots are visible” instruction being repeated over and over as if saying it for the hundredth time will have some effect that the first 99 times didn’t. Just a waste of time.

PrescriptionScanner doesn’t work. At all. We decided to test PrescriptionScanner and used the same pair of glasses 5 different times and got a different prescription EACH time. This proved to us that PrescriptionScanner is inaccurate and we chose not to order. I would suggest you just go to the doctor and get a prescription number as PrescriptionScanner will do your eyes more harm than good.
****In response to the developers comment: I’m glad to hear that “hundreds of customers have used successfully” your app. (Not sure why you felt the need to put that in your reply as if it negates my experience) Anyways, I am also pretty sure that those hundreds of customers did not take the time to test PrescriptionScanner several times as we did. Again, we tested the same pair of glasses 5 times and got a different prescription each time. Then we brought our neighbor and her husband over and we tested their glasses as well several times. Again, same results. Each time we tested the same pair of glasses, we got a different result. That is concerning. ****

Both my roommate and I had great hopes for PrescriptionScanner. It started well enough. The scanner quickly and easily connected the cell phone and laptop. I got a credit card and began with the size adjustment. From here on everything began to go downhill.

I tried the size adjustment using every finger and different positions. I even flipped the laptop onto its display to let gravity hold the card between the dots on the screen. This way it was far easier to keep the dots reliably inside the scanner. However, even after maintaining the dots and card in the cell phone scanner for more than 5 minutes PrescriptionScanner was unable to adjust for size. Out of approximately 7 separate attempts to set up PrescriptionScanner I managed to get through this step only once.

The one time I was able to begin measuring the glasses it was extremely hard to keep the the glasses aligned in a way for the scanner to measure them.

I think that PrescriptionScanner has potential but it is too difficult to keep the computer display, glasses, and cell phone aligned long enough to let PrescriptionScanner scan. I have yet to understand why scaling would take so long. One scan should be enough to determine the size of the card based on the 6 dots on the screen.

There is a setup step where you hold a mag stripe card up in front of your computer screen with the Glasses USA website synced to the phone app. The website must be in full screen mode or it refuses to work. Six dots are displayed on the edges of the website while you hold up the card and scan it with the phone camera. On a larger computer screen, the dots are hilariously far apart and almost as big as the card. The phone app can’t scan the card.

The website refuses to work on an iPad. That would be fix #1.

Fix #2 is to correctly support computers with modern large screens.

Updated: changed rating from 1 star to 3. The problem was with my hi-res 32-inch 4K monitor, set to “larger size” text in the Macintosh display control panel. PrescriptionScanner thought the browser window was too small when in fact it was large. By the time I made the browser window big enough so PrescriptionScanner stopped complaining, it was so huge I had to hold my phone WAY back, and couldn’t hold my glasses half-way between.

When I switched to the MacBook’s built-in laptop display, it was fast and easy.

Original review: Spent 15 minutes, app simply didn’t work. First, it kept telling me to get the dots in the phone camera’s view even though they plainly were. Then it just couldn’t find my credit card even though I followed the instructions exactly. Finally got thru that, then a repeat of those failures as it tried to measure my glasses. After 20 minutes my arms were so tired from holding my glasses and moving them back and forth with no apparent progress I had to give up. Very frustrated.

I was very excited to see that I could scan my glasses to get the prescription. PrescriptionScanner looked simple enough so I decided to try it. I had to spend almost an hour doing the test because it kept telling me I did not do the scan right even though I followed all the instructions. Instead of telling me what I was doing wrong on the scan it kept asking me if I wanted to contact customer support. When I went to click on the customer support button it did nothing. The support button would light up acknowledging me tapping it but nothing would pop up and the screen wouldn’t change. It finally took one of my scans but it was a headache to get.

I did have some issues using PrescriptionScanner , my WiFi wasn’t stable so every time it disconnected my phone would fall out of sync and I would have to start over. (I did this many times before I actually got a result.) When I did get a result the numbers looked familiar so I’m excited to get my glasses and see if they are as accurate as PrescriptionScanner claims. I will update my review when I receive them. Great idea and execution, looking forward to seeing future improvements that will revolutionize online eye care!

I was completely skeptical but this seemed relatively inexpensive so I was like “why not?” I’m completely glad I did because they came out absolutely perfect. My previous pair had arms that had broken beyond repair so I took my chance plus contacts were giving me dry eyes and migraines. Prescription is spot on and overall product quality is better than my previous $300 pair. Highly recommend!

I have tried 4 tests and 3 of those didn’t even give me results. I’m not mad at PrescriptionScanner to be honest. If it was accurately able to tell me what I already knew then I guess it’s accurate enough to tell other people their prescription. My recommendation is that you do the test multiple times to see if the results are consistent, which they were for me.

So I never write reviews for apps because I don’t care enough too BUT PrescriptionScanner right here saved me lol I couldn’t get my prescription from my doctor and I wanted to buy new glasses online, so I found out about PrescriptionScanner and I was so skeptical at first because how can they really tell your eye prescription by putting your current glasses up to a computer screen but they truly work, I just got my glasses and THEY ARE THE CORRECT PRESCRIPTION LIKE WOW I AM SUPER IMPRESSED 😭 I am a satisfied app user !!

I used PrescriptionScanner to scan my glasses (I can see perfectly but they were getting scratched up) and was so excited that I immediately ordered 3 pairs of glasses.

The next day it occurred to me that I put an awful lot of trust in PrescriptionScanner with just one try— I figured I should have tried it several times and compared results. I fully expected that it must have been too good to be true and was worried about the glasses I’d ordered…

No need! I am here to tell you the script is 100% perfect. Thank you SO MUCH!

I didn’t have my prescription paper when I was ordering new glasses, so I was searching for apps. I found this one, and it’s truly a blessing! I wasn’t sure if the results matched, but I went with it. My glasses are still being shipped, but I found my prescription paper today and everything matched. The left eye axis was just off by 1, but that is barely anything to worry about. I’m sure that it’ll work just as well, and I just wanted to express my thanks to PrescriptionScanner.

With the quarantine in effect and my glasses broken I needed a new pair of prescription glasses. I thought I would check PrescriptionScanner store to see what exists and that’s when I found GlassesUSA. I was skeptical at first and getting my previous glasses scanned correctly was a little tricky but I’m very impressed overall with PrescriptionScanner and service. Within about two weeks I received my new glasses, perfect lenses match from my previous and I got for a fraction of the cost. I will be ordering from Glasses USA again!

So I’ve been an avid prescription glasses wearer for 6 years now. I had no idea where the paper was with my info about my eyes. So I decided to use PrescriptionScanner, and with PrescriptionScanner it give me the information I needed. With the info, I went ahead and purchased prescribed sunglasses from a well known company online. The glasses came a few days ago, I tried them on.. they’re my exact prescription. I can see out of the sunglasses well like my normal prescription glasses.. in total it only cost about $30. That’s so cheap compared to normal.

So I broke my glasses and I had no idea where my script was and the last eye center I went to said they didn’t keep scripts after 2 years, so I didn’t know what to do. I couldn’t afford to go to an eye doctor and somehow I stumbled across PrescriptionScanner while searching to see if it’s possible to get the script from the actual lenses. I was like no way is this actually gonna work but I was desperate. It gave me a result and I ordered some $38 frames from Walmart. Holy crap it actually worked, if it’s not my exact script it’s dang close cause I can see just fine. Thank you so much for PrescriptionScanner!!!

My husband’s previous pair of glasses were missing the pieces for the nose support, missing one of the arms that go behind your ear and the other arm of the frame was held on with super glue and tape.. needless to say he needed a new pair. However with the current pandemic he didn’t want to try and make an appointment to get his prescription. We stumbled upon PrescriptionScanner and were honestly skeptical about how accurate it really would be. We followed the directions and in less than 15 minutes he had a prescription which we used and ordered a pair of glasses. THEY ARE PERFECT!!!!!! SO IMPRESSED!!

Alright, so I was hella skeptical of PrescriptionScanner but I figured it was worth a shot so I took a chance and used this to figure out my prescription (since I am too much of a wuss to just call my Doctor).

Anyways, I followed the instructions and got my prescription perfectly!! I did this process about 5 times just to make sure, because I’m personally very paranoid, but turns out I got the right prescription on the first try! Did get 2 duds on my quest with PrescriptionScanner so I’d recommend you to test this out a couple of times. Other than that, it was an easy process and I definitely recommend PrescriptionScanner!!

I was doubtful, but optimistic due to some other reviews. Like another review stated, it really is pretty magical, and works as stated. I used a pretty old Mac and an iPhone Xsomething, worked right off the bat. Got the glasses, and they are perfect! Also, they look good on my melon, which attests to the website where you can download a pic of your beautiful mug and see the glasses, pretty close to what they are going to actually look like. I bought two pairs and both look great. I spent less on two pairs here with the max lens upgrades than I did on one pair at my usual optical store. Do it!

I was skeptical of PrescriptionScanner. The idea that my phone camera could accurately tell me my prescription sounded ridiculous to me. I downloaded it anyway and did what it said and got my prescription. I wanted to order new glasses but I didn’t really want to use the prescription PrescriptionScanner gave me because I didn’t trust it so I called my optometrist and had them mail me my real prescription. Then I remembered the prescription I got from PrescriptionScanner and they are exactly the same! The only thing that was different was the axis measurements. I was super surprised how accurate it turned out to be. Doesn’t beat getting your actual prescription but it will work in a pinch.

This is sorcery! I feel just like I did as a child when David Copperfield asked me to hold my card up to the television screen and guessed the suit and number. And then made the Statue of Liberty disappear.

I ordered a pair of glasses from another company and tested PrescriptionScanner to see if it would work or if I should go to an optician to check and ensure the correct prescription. This was SPOT ON in what I ordered. Even the Cylinder was perfect, along with my pupil distance given by my doctor. The axis was within 3-4 degrees for one of the eyes, but it was minimal one time. I tested this cauldron of spells three times and the second of three had one eye off by .25, but that was because I did a horrible job keeping steady when tilting my glasses. Make sure your steady and do it a few times to confirm.

Ive been sitting in front of a computer for over an hour trying to scan my glasses. The image being scanned is either “too blurry” when it is actually the camera focusing and refocusing continuously (even though the camera is completely still), the loading process getting stuck at 98%, or PrescriptionScanner just crashes all together. Just book an eye exam and save yourself the headache, this is my second day trying to scan my glasses and PrescriptionScanner seems broken.

I just used PrescriptionScanner to get my prescription reading and it was completed successfully. But i had a few questions about the accuracy of the results so i called the customer service number just now and spoke to a representative and he instructed me that the results from PrescriptionScanner may not be right and to go to the doctor for a accurate reading (which is understandable) but i was puzzled at that because what’s the point of the application in that case, is it to waste people’s valuable time? In that case I wouldn’t recommend anyone to use this application for their prescription. If I could review without a star I would.

At first I was having a lot of trouble getting this to work due to dim light and if you’re having issues I’d highly recommend going near a lamp or natural light and you should have some better luck! Works great and is easy to use but the voice on PrescriptionScanner is kind of annoying haha

At first it didn’t work for me and I thought it was a scam but then I did it again and it worked perfectly. In the end when you put your email it does not ask for money or anything like that it just wants to save your prescription I love it and am so thankful have told various friends about it. Thank you so much.

PrescriptionScanner is brilliant.
My fiancé and I just spent half our afternoon attempting to locate his prescription from his eye doctor who wasn’t open.
I discovered PrescriptionScanner and while it seems my fiancés prescription may have too much astigmatism (said glasses were too curved?) it got mine to the T.
It worked very quickly, this truly is a fantastic app.

You know how you become skeptical about an app because the reviews are TOO positive? That’s how I felt looking at PrescriptionScanner. My impression of PrescriptionScanner’s functions seemed far out of reach to achieve, but I was slapped in the face by PrescriptionScanner because of how wrong I was. This is insanely accurate and I’m so glad that I was wrong and was willing to try this out!

I got my eye information from my actual eye doctor and I don’t want to pay to get my eyes checked again just to buy glasses online if I have the same prescription (which I thought I did) and this is exactly what I had as my prescription before! Worked wonderfully!

I ordered glasses from glassesUSA a couple years ago. I wanted to see if PrescriptionScanner would be accurate with my prescription and it was IDENTICAL. It reads your prescription of the glasses you have. This will save so many people so much money and trouble! It literally took 5 minutes.

5 stars bc the team behind PrescriptionScanner seems amazing and willing to help. I didn't know that you needed a computer as well to use PrescriptionScanner. The ad on your website didn't mention it, but besides that I love it. Will try to get to a computer for it

It took a few tries to get the scanning part down, but once we figured it out, we were able to scan both my husband’s and my glasses and order new ones. The prescription seems to be perfect.

I needed to buy some new glasses before I could get to the doctor’s office. PrescriptionScanner allowed me to do inside of 10 minutes. It was quick, so easy and I didn’t need anything I didn’t already have within reach. Highly recommend.

I have had a prescription for about 8 months but recently moved towns and wanted new frames. PrescriptionScanner allowed me to use my current, still valid prescription just by scanning my glasses at home, without the hassle or expense of another eye exam or trying to get my script from my old doc. Very happy and would highly recommend even though I had to scan a couple of times to get the result.
