This program gives bad numbers. Use with caution.

There are bugs in this program. You should use with caution. The reports show me and my spouse getting social security BEFORE the dates input into the program for benefits to start. If you put in your birthdate and then ask for benefits to start at age 66 and 6 months, the reports show those benefits starting at age 66. Fortunately I only lost $1.99 on this. But this is a seriously bad bug that could cost you thousands of dollars over your lifetime if you make decisions based on the reports in this program that can’t be changed down the road.

Not accurate

The values for each year’s benefits match SS for some years and not others. For example the benefits for age 62 to 67 within a few dollars of what SS says but way off for ages 68 to 70.

The spousal benefit is sometimes accurate and sometimes not.

Per SS when you apply for your benefits the first check happens the following month. When you use a January value the first check is in February. This is correct in SocialSecurityOptimizer . When you use a December value SocialSecurityOptimizer has the first check in December not January. This is incorrect.

Good, but cannot print/save report

Easy to use app, visually helpful to understand, fast. The “email” function/button shut down SocialSecurityOptimizer , which is very annoying. Also can’t save, which greatly limits use. Please fix the shutting down when clicking email.

Excellent

Great planning tool for analyzing long term advantages or disadvantages of taking social security benefits at a time other than the full retirement age. It provides an easy way to do what-if analysis for married couples in determining when each spouse should start drawing the benefits. Interactive graphs are helpful.
I found SocialSecurityOptimizer to be flexible for projecting post retirement years. You can analyze different life span for each spouse and under varying rates of inflation. SocialSecurityOptimizer serves a good purpose in helping you make an informed decision.

Great number cruncher

Make sure you have the monthly social security income amount that you will receive at your full retirement age. SocialSecurityOptimizer needs that amount to calculate your income at different ages. With this it is quick and easy to analyze all you want. Well designed.

Simple & Useful

Simple and useful soc sec app that can save you hours in looking up at tables and doing math to get meaningful answers. It can also give you more confidence in making your decision.

Excellent

What l like the most is its main screen that shows all relevant results of the analysis in one place. This makes it easy to explore social security benefits further with different assumptions for startup age, life expectancy, inflation rate etc. Great free app!

Excellent essential app

SocialSecurityOptimizer is simple and to-the-point in analyzing and comparing your options for when to start drawing social security benefits. It also produces an excellent pie chart showing how much of your living expenses is satisfied by social security.

Excellent

I am using it to compare total lifelong benefits at ages 65 to 70 and to know what impact it might make if I were to retire from my job now or later. You do have to provide your numbers but SocialSecurityOptimizer is fast and clear with its results. The line charts are very helpful.

Simple & Wonderful!

SocialSecurityOptimizer is one of many tools available for comparing your maximization options for social security benefits. If you are a single person (not a surviving spouse) or married couple I think this is the best app for your analysis. It is simple, quick and free. It deserves 5-stars.

Great Planner!

SocialSecurityOptimizer is excellent for planning when to take social security benefits after reaching age 62. Input is minimal and key results are short, simple and meaningful. Good for what-if analysis for singles or for combined analysis of married couples. Good touch-based supporting details for the results displayed. Premium features are well worth the buck it costs.

Recommended

I was recommended the Boss app in a retirement seminar. It is designed for a single task in helping you decide when to start drawing social security benefits based on projected lifetime benefits for a single individual or married couple. It does the job simply and beautifully. I wanted to pass on my two bits to help others.

Special Agent T.D.Reeves US Marines Corps Secret Service

I was really hoping that Boss app would recognize me as the
United States Secret Service Federal Economics Agent and a U.S. Secret Service Fiduciary Agent as well as a US Secret Service secret us service special agent / Technician and realize that I have been volunteering since selective service registration

Outstanding

This is the best and the easiest tool for analyzing social security options i have seen. It provides a clear picture of the benefits payment stream for any startup time between age 62 and 70. Two lines in graphs say it all. It has advanced options to gauge the impact of inflation, taxes and life expectancy making it quite usefull for what-if analysis.

Helps maximize benefits

SocialSecurityOptimizer is helpful in deciding when to start with the social security benefits that you are entitled to after reaching the age 62. You can do simple comparisons or include factors such as projected inflation and changing life expectancy. You can also include in the analysis all other income and living expenses to see the overall scenarios with tax analysis and cashflow pie charts.

Excellent

I am not much into numeric analysis but still find SocialSecurityOptimizer to be really helpful with its charts in showing the changing monthly benefits with inflation and how they add up over the years. Though it is hard to decide when to start with benefits SocialSecurityOptimizer does a good job is showing which option is better.

Perfect!

If you are close to retirement and heading for social security benefits you will find SocialSecurityOptimizer really useful. Get your Full-Retirement-Amount from the last statement from SSA and start analyzing your options at different start ages. Depending on your needs and other income SocialSecurityOptimizer can help you find when it is most suited to your circumstances to maximize your income.

Very helpful

Great app for comparing social security benefit startup options available when you reach 62 until the age 70. I used it to get a better feel of our results at different ages of each even though a professional planner is helping with the decision. A few minutes playing with your numbers could be quite revealing.

Easy to use and understand

I used SocialSecurityOptimizer to analyze at what age it would be best to start taking my social security benefits. Input was straightforward. The help was very understandable and gave clear explanations of the fields and what they were meant for. The graphs of the produced results were visually impressive and helped understand the results. The cost of the upgrade was well worth the money. Overall, an excellent program to help you maximize your retirement benefits.

Nice benefit analyzer

It helps you decide the age that suits you best for get going with the benefit. I used it to review the recommendations made by company planner and was comforting to confirm it with approximate numbers. App results were fairly close.
