Frustrating flaws

I have to start with saying that I think most insurance companies will be moving in this direction. My biggest frustration is that it does not do a good job telling if I am a passenger or not. I constantly have to go into RoutelyV1 and make changes. It would be great if you could log in as a driver before a drive. Make it so you have to log a certain number of drives a month. The other really big one for me is that speeding. Not that I do speed, but there are a couple places on my drive that says the speed limit is 45, when I am still on the freeway and the speed limit is 60. The other is on the drive to my kids school that is 55 most of the way. Some place in the middle of that it says the speed limit drops to 35 and it does not. I’ll own it if I really am speeding, but it bugs me to do much that I’m getting dinged for something that isn’t true. I wish they had a place on their app to report issues like this. You know click on your event and report an issue. I would change it to a 4 star if that could happen.

Update! Down to one star. So the off ramp counts as a 35 mph zone!!! Are we supposed to slow down while still on the freeway? That seems more dangerous than following the rules of the road. Isn't the point of an off ramp to gradually slow down.
This needs to be fixed.

It does what it’s supposed to with just a few bugs

I really like RoutelyV1 , it works well for me and its easy to use. Sometimes events happen even when they didn't but thats fine. Thats all I’d change, it’s overrall a really nice app!

Speeding

So I’m a good driver. I don’t go over the posted speed limit and in fact I go 5 mph under the posted speed limit just so I have a safety gap. But most recent I went on RoutelyV1 and I have a Streak of 96. Great but then I click on my recent trip and then RoutelyV1 says I was speeding on the entire ride. Yet thankfully it didn’t clear out my streak bc this is a glitch in RoutelyV1 . Please fix this issue.

Edit: so apparently RoutelyV1 has no clue of what the real posted speed limits are on my roads bc it’s telling me that the speed limits is 25 when the real posted speed limit is 45. I was traveling at a speed of 41. That was just one road speed issue and it’s got the speed limits wrong for other roads but I just wanted to point this out.

Total Crap!

1. RoutelyV1 doesn’t take into consideration that someone else in the car could be using your phone while you’re driving.
2. If you work a 9-5 job, you’re screwed from the get go. It scores you on the time of day you drive, so if you have to go to work at a normal time (rush hour) your score gets lowered.
3. If someone pulls out in front of you or suddenly slams their brakes and you stop to avoid hitting them, in either scenario, you’ll be considered to be driving distracted. So, I guess they want you to hit the other car??? If I’m not paying attention then I would probably hit the other car, however, because I DO pay attention I stop. Score drop!

It’s a no from me!

I don’t like how you have to have this running all the time. I feel as though it’s an invasion of privacy. I get where it tracks driving habits to understand how safely you are driving, but I just don’t feel like an insurance company should need to know your every move at all times. We pay our insurance premiums and do our best to stay safe. I don’t feel we should have to prove that to get decent premium cost if we have a decent driving record to begin with. Yes, I’m aware this is optional, but I, along with many I’m sure, have felt obligated to use RoutelyV1 to save money. I’ve had RoutelyV1 a day and it’s not for me. How do I delete it?

Waste of time

Its kills your battery on your phone way faster then normal. I have had RoutelyV1 almost a week and my phone dies about 5 hrs fast then normal. My kids play with my phone when in the car so putting passenger is the only thing to fix that. I’m not going to lose my discount just because my kids are on my phone when we are on the road. I think RoutelyV1 needs some updating and the one who created it needs to think about the fact that people have kids and they play on our phones.

GPS Tracking

I think when it come to speed on RoutelyV1 it’s not understanding that highway traffic people just go with the flow and drive & truckers are ride behind you hard. A little speed doesn’t hurt but when you track someone’s speed and then report it to the Sherance company their rates go up. But most of your clients don’t really get into any accidents unless it was out of the ordinary

Needs work

Every single time I get in any car RoutelyV1 thinks I’m the driver, I thought it was supposed to be able to sense whether it not you are actually the driver on its own but I have to switch it myself literally every time because it always thinks I’m driving. Don’t know what RoutelyV1 considers speeding either because the few times I have driven I some how speed everytime going only 5 over. App needs lots of work

Worst app ever

Kills battery because it runs constantly in the background. You cannot only have locations on while using. You have to constantly have it on 24/7. Constantly tracks you EVERYWHERE. Also it gave me 4 events for being “distracted”. 2 of the times I received a text and didn’t even look at it. The other 2 times I was at red lights and was changing my music! I would not recommend all state, encompass, or any other insurance company that requires you to use RoutelyV1

Terrible for insurance company

I have RoutelyV1 for my insurance company discount and it’s absolutely pointless. I barely drive my own car and I’m in a work vehicle not insured by my company but it records my driving habits all day that I need to go change all the time. I have to change the trip if my wife grabs my phone to use it while driving, change the trips when I’m golfing, and heaven forbid I drive during the day cause the time of day is a no no. I’m embarrassed I have to use RoutelyV1 to get a discount.

1st time user

So far I feel like RoutelyV1 isn’t really accurate. It recorded me speeding and I wasn’t. I was driving the speed limit of 65 on one highway which is the limit the highway suppose to be. Then on the other highway, the limit was 55 which I was driving. I’m utilizing RoutelyV1 for my insurance discount and I hope that it doesn’t interfere with my discount.

It’s good

I like this just wish it can be set up so it knows when you are using a headset or heads free Device

Not a fan

Not happy with RoutelyV1 at all, says you are speeding when you are not. Wife touched the phone when I was driving, still said we were distracted. Drove from work the other day down a country road and said I was speeding the entire time even though the speed limit is 55. Only switched insurance companies because my original insurance does not cover my house. Not a fan.

Speeding needs a huge overhaul!!!!

The speed and is definitely messed up I have a lot of roads near my house that is 45–55mphAnd then coming off off rampsI am no tech guru but seems like y’all need to update your Maps a little better with though speed zones all across the US or whoever y’all cover everywhere I’m sure

Garbage app

I wrote a VERY thorough review about how RoutelyV1 illegally records your driving patterns intentionally incorrect to reduce any applicable discounts.

I know this because it has reported that I have driven distracted. That is a physical impossibility, that phone cannot be reached while the vehicle is in operation. My original review also showed the diagnostic where we took RoutelyV1 apart to show where it’s designed to act exactly as I had described but of course, the ad vanished.

I will say this, after showing the proof to the insurance company that sold me the policy, I was able to get a full refund PLUS interest.

RoutelyV1 is a scam. There is no way around it.

Does not work all the time, not accurate

We will drive and sometimes it will record a trip and other times not. On one trip driving on highway for 2 hours, it broke the trip into 5 segments. It says I was speeding 64 in a 45 and it wasn’t possible due to traffic. My score goes up and down like a yo-yo even when I have 20-30 Perfect trips.

By

Map Data

The map database needs an update. The maps “speed limits” do not always match some of the current posted speed limits. Apparently 25 MPH is the default speed if the system gets confused.

By

Really bad app

RoutelyV1 is just inconsistent. I have it in the background and when I’m driving and reach my destination it records it, but when I make another trip where I’m the passenger a few minutes later, it combines the two. It makes no sense because it’s two separate trip. There really need to fix this

Mystery events

RoutelyV1(use of which is required by my insurance company for a discount) continuously registers sudden braking events that never happened. Forget letting a passenger in your car using your phone, as you will be dinged for use while driving. FYI latest update.
The intent may be there, but the poor coding is far from being ready.

By

Needs some work

Downloaded because of a perk with my insurance company. However, it’s obviously flawed. For month of Feb, it shows 6 total “events”, but in my score it shows 7 for a single item. For January, it shows 39 events, but my score has close to 50. Not sure what it is, but that math doesn’t add up.

By

Eh

Even when I’m not driving and in someone else’s car, their driving counts against me. My kids play on my phone sometimes in the car, shows that I’m using my phone while driving. There are minor details that could be fixed

Scam

Opened app after downloading and it asked for activation code. Since i never entered an email i clicked help button and it says contact insurance. I deleted app immediately. I just wanted an app to track my miles and routes and other miscellaneous details for my personal use, not to be shared without my knowledge.

The app says I am driving in a posted 55 mile an hour zone when it is actually a 65 mile an hour zone. It thinks I am breaking hard when I am only slowing for an exit. I am very concerned about this app giving WRONG information about my driving. GNS

It mapped one of my routes to look like I helicoptered up a bridge in spaghetti junction.

Provides flawed info. Constantly says I'm speeding 45mph in a non existent 20 mph zone near my home, actually almost at the 45 mph sign. Also says I'm going 86 mph on number of occasions when I have my cruise set at 72. Identified me as a distracted driver if another person actually answers my phone while we are driving. Providing usless info that will be used against me when determining my future insurance rates

This app is so out of wack that it is beyond annoying! It once showed that I was going 69 mph in a 55 mph zone when I never went more than 51 mph! Today it said that I braked hard 9 times from M59 to the first Frankenmuth exit on I 23 when I never touched the brake pedal all of the way there! And then, on the way home it said that I was going 81 mph in a 30 mph zone when the speed limit of that I 23 route is actually 70 mph and the fastest that I ever went was 73 mph ! I will, again, report these discrepancies to my insurance company and request that they give me an App that is legitimate!

This App is garbage. Using because my insurance company offered a discount. Problem is. I'm almost 100% convinced this app deliberately shows Poor driving in order to stop your discount. I was flagged speeding twice today exactly where I was stuck behind a street sweeper going 10mph. And if you go over a bump or your phone slides on the seat or console. It shows distracted driver. This is ridiculous... I would love proof of someone using this app successfully keeping their insurance discount for good driving while this app was installed.

I despise this app! It is punitive and makes you oppositional. Because it's so unfair - doesn't let you easily indicate if you're not driving, and docks you for everything, but never increases your scores - you just give up. Like why bother? I've driven 6,000 miles/686 trips with the app, with 6 events (2 of which are not at all legit). However, my score is 9.2 which just doesn't seem right! I agree with previous posters - they can see it's heavy traffic with construction, but I get docked when I brake to avoid hitting a car. It says it only calculates speeding over 80 mph but then I get an out of nowhere dock for speeding when I wasn't going anywhere near 80 mph. Do a favor and pick up a friend from the airport? Get docked because I drove later at night. It's like having a Tamagochi - I have to always check it if I wasn't driving, if I'm with a friend, if I'm on a train - I don't need something else to babysit and I certainly don't need more Big Brother in my life. Also, it doesn't tell you your savings anywhere - I called Encompass to find out my precise savings, and you get the runaround. I read on the internet that it saves about 10%, but the customer service person said it saves on different parts of coverage for different people - so sketchy! This app is such a hassle that it is definitely not worth saving $100-200. I wish every executive at Encompass could drive with this shit show of an app and have their score randomly reduced.

Speed limits aren't correct. Have a road where it goes from 25 to 35. It thinks it's all 25. Says I'm speeding in the 35 zone. On a recent trip it said I did 94 several times. Absolutely wrong. Never exceeded 75 which was in a 70 mph zone. I've never in my life gone that fast. I am going to delete the app.
