I stayed at an Airbnb that used this app. Keycafe did not import the key that was sent by the host. Instead I had to punch in the 9 digit code at the lockbox, which means that Keycafe was of no use whatsoever.

Save yourself the time and don’t bother installing Keycafe. Instead, just use the numeric code at the cafe.

Nothing should be that much more difficult than it had to be. Thank goodness the air b&b had a concierge to help me, but why not just leave the key with them in the first place? Next time I look for a place to stay, if Keycafe is required, it’s a definite deal breaker.

There’s a verification process and it’s impossible to use Keycafe without giving away a measure of privacy.

The key pickup cafes require internet 100% of the time to work, and often don’t have connection to the internet. Terrible design, locked out for hours.

Keycafe does not work most of the time. We are stranded in NYC because of Keycafe. No access to our key and no customer support help. 24/7 chat link does not work and customer service calls stay on hold forever.

It’s a great idea but they are extremely incompetent and not consistent. Countless times I’ve had guests who could not pick up the keys or could not drop off the keys and cancel I’ve lost over thousands of dollars in cancellations doing business with this company the absolute worst.

Nothing like walking around in -35 degree weather trying to find a key. Keycafe is completely useless and of no help whatsoever in helping me find the location. But darn I’m glad to be walking around in minus 35 degrees with the windchill just so that I can use a cool app!!

Next AirBNB that tells me I need to use Keycafe gets cancelled

Keycafe doesn’t load on IOS. It just hangs, and it doesn’t seem to be a new problem with the current build, old reviews say the same. In theory this is convenient but in practice it’s a poorly made app with hoops to jump through just to acquire a key, where instead you should be able to have your host email you a code

Keycafe has pretty much zero limits on what they collect and how they use it. I am supposed to trust that I can limit information sharing AFTER I provide it, but it also GATHERS DATA FROM YOUR PHONE WHEN YOU USE IT. No thanks, I stopped signing up after reading the terms. Hope I can get my AiBnB key another way.

App barely loads, hard to use, the pick up and drop off service haven’t worked for us TWICE, leaving us with huge headaches while we’re out of town. This company needs to go out of business. Unreliable service in an area with no room for that.

When Keycafe connects, it’s a painless process. But I’ve been standing here for 20 minutes waiting to return my keys, and I had similar troubles when retrieving them.

AirBnB hosts: Do not force your guests to use Keycafe. You are causing them trouble at a time when they want to enjoy their vacation.

AirBnB guests: Ask your host for another way to retrieve the keys. This is not worth the trouble.

If you’re like me and we’re forced to download Keycafe because your Airbnb host I am deeply sorry for the inconveniences you’re about to experience.

I still haven’t gotten to the homepage of Keycafe and it’s been 5 minutes of verification codes and personal information. I didn’t realize all this was needed to pick up a key.

Excited to get this off my phone as soon as I’m done with it. Good luck!

It's ridiculous that you require your guests to download Keycafe in order to see the PIN code instead of simply mentioning it in that email you send them with download instructions. The number of times I had guests from abroad without internet access not able to pick the key up is outrageous to the point you can't trust the service while you're away. So what's the point of paying for it at all?!

Let’s be clear, to access a key box one-time, you need to:

1) download an app
2) put in your email
3) come up with a password
4) put in your phone number
5) type in a 2fa code as it’s not optional
6) copy paste an access code from email

This is the equivalent of taking off your pants just to fart. I can’t think of any reason to do this unless my personal information is part of their business model.

Forced to download for Airbnb rental. Although Keycafe showed the location was accessible 24/7, it was accessible only when the business it was in was actually open. Couldn’t drop the keys off on the way to the airport, had to take with me and mail to owner. The technology for Keycafe is minimal; if they can’t provide correct information, why bother!

The interface needs A LOT of work. Quite confusing how to actually set up your key and find a location but once you get past all that, the service works. They give you your first two key drop offs free and the call center is 24/7. Make sure the location you drop off your key is going to be open at the time you plan on picking them up. A 24 hour location (like 7-11) is your safest bet if you think delays are possible. Overall satisfied with the service.

This is the coolest app I've ever seen. I don't write many reviews, but I can't believe how well Keycafe and the associated services work. When this started in Canada, I used it a few times and have been hooked ever since. I hope they continue to spread--I use it whenever I travel and have properties I will connect though this app in the future.

I’m actually pretty impressed. A friend asked me to download Keycafe and drop some keys off in the drop box and it was genuinely very easy. I reckon the people that have been leaving low ratings were inpatient and not very tech savvy.
