My first review isn't showing up...and it was prettttty detailed on the "how LivingWith can improve" front. Since I don't know where that review is, I'll reiterate a couple things more succinctly now that I've used LivingWith for a few weeks.
For the positive: Awesome premise, pretty good interface, easy to set up and easy to use! I'm so happy there's something out there like this in time for my cancer "journey", especially after seeing some of the other apps that people are using!
Couple major things that could really improve LivingWith:
1. SUPPORTER REGISTRATION:
At the registration section for new users where supporters get to choose the areas they'd like to help and receive requests: ALL of the areas of help are already selected by default (hi-lighted yellow). Then at the top, it says "Select the areas you would like to help in". I have NUMEROUS friends/family who immediately started "selecting" those areas that they wanted to help in...BUT they didn't realize they were actually de-selecting the areas they wanted to help with. This is a major problem! I had to send out several messages, request tests, and updates to try to communicate with everyone what was happening, and to let them know how to change their areas of help later, bc they thought they'd chosen all the areas to help in, but actually chosen none!
My suggestion there would be to leave everything de-selected at the beginning, then if they don't choose anything, have a pop-up come up that says "Wait, are you sure? You haven't selected anything", Or something to that effect.
2. REQUESTS FOR HELP:
As soon as you put a request for help out, everyone in that help request group is notified. I have a pretty big group of supporters, so thankfully it's only taken a few minutes at most for my requests to be accepted. When this happens though, the request completely disappears from everyone else's list except for the person who accepted it. As a result, NUMEROUS people have said to me "Hey, I saw a request notification but when I opened LivingWith , I looked and looked and there was nothing there."
My suggestion would be to have accepted requests show up on other people's app, even if they aren't the ones who accepted the request. This may seem pointless, but it puts supporters at ease to know there was a request but that someone filled it.
3. CHARACTER COUNT LIMIT:
There is a very small character count limit for the updates, notes and help request details, which is unnecessary and makes things extremely difficult! You also can't hit return in these areas. Please get rid of those limitations!
