Latest update ruins Bricks

iPad 7, iOS.
To Developers: you ruined the bricks with your latest update. Everything is crushed. I feel suffocated with the new layout.

I have to do bricks All day bricks for school. Study exclusively from my iPad 7. Everything was fine and dandy until the latest Rx update. Now, as I scroll through the brick, I feel suffocated by th new layout. There’s no margin. The font goes from border to border. It’s like, use margins people. The whole layout is such a headache that I’m complaining to the school.

Great potential but frustrating

Such a great idea to have all the quizzes and Qmax question along with the first aid book. As a de gal student studying for CBSE I love the extra information and not just going through the book alone.
However so frustrating:
1. Why is your website sooo battery draining. If I use your website every day it will destroy my Mac battery within months.

So I have to use app on my iPad
1. No way to access text on this. Is it so hard to have the little excerpts go with each video?
2. Why is there no way to speed up the videos on iPad? It’s not that hard to build that into USMLERx
3. Why is there no way on desktop or app to access first aid as a whole? I don’t want to be confined to the one section and I know I can click to another but I should be able to see entire book. There’s already a PDF for that. Why don’t you guys include that with USMLERx ?

I love the UMSLE-RX info wise but it’s so difficult to use and it’s so frustrating cause I almost paid half a grand for a 2 year subscription and I shouldn’t have to deal with that. I would literally give a 5 star rating if not for those 4 problems I outlined

Frustratingly unreliable

Paid for a one month subscription to try out your service before my end of year exam. Not only does your service go down the day before my final and I can’t log into my account, but it goes down in the middle of a practice test.

On top of that the error I get says “We can’t connect to your device right now, please try again” so I tried for over an hour to get it working again thinking that it was an error on my part. My computer or wifi or something. What it should have said was “Our service is down right now, please try again later” Or it should just be much more reliable. This is after having several issues staying connected during practice tests as well.

Not only am I mad that I wasted my money on a month subscription but I will definitely not be renewing and will be advising all that I can to stay away.

Less usable than online version

I normally use the online version. One feature I enjoy online is the search function, which allows you to search qmax questions and first aid questions to find a related topic. I also like the feature online where one can read first aid by clicking through a table of contents. This is not available in USMLERx version. If these features were available in USMLERx , I’d have more reason to use it.

Improved version but way to go

This new version is much better than the last one as more features are incorporated and the main page automatically puts your most recently open question set in the front for easier access. These are improvements.

However, just wondering when would some basic functions, such as highlighting and first aid access, to be included in USMLERx ?

Test Review

The biggest thing that drives me nuts is when I go to review a test and it starts from the end instead of question one. If I’m doing it wrong, let me know! Also, there’s too many abbreviations in descriptions. You first have to write the word out and use parenthesis with the abbreviation the first time you use it and then throughout the same paragraph you can just use the abbreviation; that’s the proper grammatical way to use abbreviations. I find myself trying to decipher things because it’s not always written out first…”STL”…what’s that? St. Louis? No. Eventually, you figure it out, but that’s not something you should have to problem solve when you’re reading explanations. Otherwise, I really enjoy the program.

No highlighting feature and auto-submit disappointing

Solely because USMLERx doesn’t have a highlighting feature, I had to go to another qbank. If they add it, there’s good odds I’ll get it later in the year, but until then for me that’s a necessity.

Also, the feature that forces you to choose an answer instantly upon clicking, to me is horrifying. I want to be able to put my answer on a placeholder, and only get a response if I submit, I don’t want an automatic only one shot autosubmit feature, I’d like that to go as well or at least an option to not have that.

Other than that, descriptions and questions are okay/good, just can’t get past the UI.

Always online connection required. Slow app. Alright UI

Edit: Added one additional star because developers did work on some of the below issues. What USMLERx really needs IMO is a overhaul so that it’s not just the web page crammed into an app format.

USMLERx does what it need to do, but could use a lot of improvement to design and UI.

1. We should be able to download some flash cards and test offline because if the connection drops out for some reason, the module resets itself. Not ideal for a mobile app.

2. App is slow at times. Maybe due to the connection to USMLE-Rx Rx servers.

3. UI can be weird at times. Proper dark mode need to be implemented. USMLERx seems like the developers tried to force the webpage format into an app. Certain elements of the interface does not turn dark or icon need to be clearer.

Would definitely use another app if one was available.

Excellent app

This is a great resource with a seamless user interface. Everything is straight forward, and easy to access. I do have one wish though, that I can highlight points from the question using my Apple pencil if possible. I’m not sure if this feature already exists, maybe I just haven’t figured it out. Other than that, great app.

Getting used to

I use more the online version. But I’m trying to use more USMLERx when I’m out of home. For quickly review and flash cards it is perfect.

The difference I have noticed it is that on the website after the express video you can use the flash facts and Qmax, and these you do not have it on USMLERx . Nothing bad, just I was expecting that the first time I used USMLERx .

USMLE Rx

LOVE USMLERx. It’s a quick and easy way to get acclimated to First Aid and to make sure you know your stuff for the USMLE. I do great on practice NBMEs thanks to USMLERx and First Aid. I mostly used the notecards, but now Ive been using the practice Qbank along with Kaplans Qbank and it is SO helpful. I feel confident and like I can remember the material without memorizing, but actually LEARNING the material. I have struggled with finding my regular study habits, but Rx makes it so easy with notecards and practice Qs specific to subjects!

I love it

This is a pretty good source to use with first aid, it literally has everything, I love the lectures it has a video for every page so it explains perfectly, English is not my first language and I can understand all of it, I think it’s pretty similar and maybe better than U world but way cheaper, so you get the best of both worlds !

Great app

I love USMLERx and the ability to do flashcards on the go while reviewing what I might missed on a digital First Aid 2019 that opens directly on the areas that I forget while doing the flashcards. I don’t use USMLERx in solving Q/As though as I feel sitting on a computer and doing it like the real deal is better in preparing for the exam, but I like that I have the option to do the questions on my phone.

Great Q-Bank. Not as many issues as Kaplan Q-Bank on mobile.

Love it. Quite reliable. Easy to access previous sessions and review your answers and explanations. Follows right along with First Aid. Have used it for a couple months now with a couple still to go before Step 1. But so far have had a very positive experience with Rx and the mobile interface.

Rx

Great app for flash facts and qbank tests.

So long as I have been using USMLERx, there has been adjustments in making the platform more efficient. I’m impressed. It only gets better with time. Keep it up team.

If the bricks were accessible through USMLERx the experience would be even better.

Rx facts

Getting the flash cards after doing Rx Qbank and then Uworld is the best decision i have made. With 3 months left into my exam I can review First Aid on the go instantly and it’s so student-friendly and convenient and fun. Thankyou for the 50% discount offer! I am so happy that i did this! Fingers crossed 🤞🏻Thanks to the First Aid team. You guys are GOLD!

Excellent Tool for Medical School

I used this through my first and second year of medical school and nothing compares to the bricks that you get to read in here. They are updated frequently and are of top-notch quality.

The fact that there are corresponding videos, flash cards, and usmle-style questions attached to the bricks, or you can review them separately based on the topic from the first aid review book, are a huge asset, especially if you don’t understand a concept from the brick right away.

Great

I really like USMLERx. All the convenience of the computer website on your phone. I did initially give this 3 stars (my original review is below) but just a couple days after leaving that review I got an email saying they updated their app which fixed the problem and gave other improvements! 10/10

Original review: Overall USMLERx does exactly what it’s meant to, but just recently it stopped saving my answers, so I have to log in a computer and re-record my answers. Updating and reinstalling hasn’t helped. 5 stars if it weren’t for this bug

Love the content but the app needs improvement

Cannot slide to the next card unless pressing the arrow on the bottom which is very annoying. Cannot go to related qm or videos when in app while doing flashcards. Other than that love the qs and contents.

Love it

I really appreciate that I can put all my energy into studying (rather than planning how I will study/what to study/how to retain, etc). Rather I can just sit down and go to work with videos, flash cards, bricks, workbooks… I feel so efficient and there are many opportunities to reinforce knowledge. Great resource for step preparation.
