- Effective way to teach fine points of baseball
- Engages players to understand the game better
- Kids learn quickly
- App doesn't crash frequently anymore
- Ability to have assignments is great
by IronHorse12
Bought the team subscription and started issuing assignments to players. Then, the whole thing got really buggy, not letting me do any new assignments to players, especially for their position. I did the bug fix and all the data disappeared afterward, including my own. Click on my subscription. And it’s like it never happened. Emailed the feedback line twice and no one responded.
Not a good way to introduce this tool to the team and busy parents. Also, need a desktop version for some families.

App seemed promising. Downloaded and went through tutorial, then went to first quiz. Could not make ThinkingBaseball work for even simple plays. Once it gives you an option, no amount of clicking other touch areas or the base to throw to were allowed. TOTAL FAIL.
by Bigsapos
It is glitchy and when there is a grounder to any position with a person at 1st you can’t get a double play and if there is a slow grounder to the pitcher you cover 1st not get the ball. When it is a pop fly to the outfield with someone at first and you catch the ball you just stand there or else you get a question wrong
by Rooster1213
I want to be able to use this with my son and also our baseball team but myself and the other parents can’t do anything after the first move of the situations. Say we wanted to field/catch the ball, we can’t do anything after that… hope it gets fixed soon because we REALLY want to use ThinkingBaseball!
by BeastEvolved10
I use ThinkingBaseball everyday before my baseball games!! This really gets your mind thinking. But you don’t have to do this just before baseball games, you can do it before and after school, before practice, even when your at a friends house. I love it!!!!

Nowhere does it explain how to indicate a throw to a base or a fielder and it is not intuitive or does not work well. Repeated clicking on the base or the receiving fielder in a few occasions seemed to work but in most instances even repeated tabs accomplished nothing.
by Rickd12
When asked what you would do on a play it requires multiple steps. I.e. field the ball then throw to a base. On my phone it won’t allow me to add a second step and therefore it’s always wrong. Sometimes on my iPad it’ll work, but still not working on my phone.

Interesting app. Not sure the setting actually all work. “Number of Plays” doesn’t change anything for free users. Subscription cost is a bit high. Buggy when Trying to “throw” the ball is very difficult. Tap, double tap and dragging does not work consistently.
by TW1029
Love the idea of the resource, just very difficult and confusing to actually work through the prompts. Challenging to drag the ball or player at all at times, and at others actually has an inaccurate baseball play. With an improved interface this would be a 4 or 5 star app
by K8ums
when trying to choose a play, you have to toggle all around the screen to try to find the option that you want to give. Several times, I spent a lot of time and could not find the correct option and had to pick a different one because I thought it didn’t exist. Then, it told me I was incorrect and said I should’ve chosen the option that I could not locatefor a very long time.

I really like the idea of this. I signed up in end of January. The ability to have assignments is great. Unfortunately I have had multiple issue with support and app crashing. I try to assign work for my players but they are frustrated with the crashing. The support is not very good the people are nice but just can’t seem to resolve the issues It’s a really neat product just quality wise is not their yet

As a HS and LL baseball coach, this sounded like a phenomenal resource. Sadly, the “correct” answers are too generic. For example: no options for fielders to hold runners on base before throwing for a force out (this is explained in the verbal solution, but these should be options which make the interactive portion more comprehensive). There are other similar examples, but the options available for solutions are often just too limited.
Also, very very buggy. I can drag the fielder to the ball, but then there is no response when I tap where to throw the ball. If I tap a zone a ton of times, it may randomly indicate the throw, but usually this portion is completely unresponsive. Using iPhone 14.

Sometimes you’re just smarter than ThinkingBaseball .

I had this game recommended to me by a coach and it’s good it helps me think about baseball even when I’m not on the field. The team only problem that I have personally with it is sometimes I will enter the right answer and say I’m wrong then give me the same answer I just put in😡. Other than that it’s a really good game I recommend it for players.

Overall a good app to learn rules / common sense in the sport. Some situations may be better with a person with knowledge nearby.
For example. “Flyball hit to left field, runner on 2nd no outs, what do you do”
I chose “field/catch the ball” then chose follow up with “throw to third” they said I was incorrect because I should “field and catch the ball and throw home”. The issue was in clarifying, I figure if the example shows the ball lands in front of me and my choice is “field / catch” I’m either catching it or it’s one hoping so I’m trying to gun out the runner. But they assume the runner is already otw home.
Example 2:
“no outs, nobody on, flyball hit to RF, what should right fielder do”
I chose “field/ catch” and “throw to second”
Thinking if I’m fielding it and not catching, I’d hold them to single.. the correct answer was “field / catch the ball” so they counted it as I was wrong because I added the “throw to second”.
The image in both examples was a line drive landing in front of the OF’s.
All in all a good app to learn. But if it’s a totally new person or they just grasp basics and want to learn more, this could make it a little confusing if nobody is around to let them know it’s more-so a programming error / confusion via the knowledge available about the play.

Great app, but it needs more features. Wish there was a referral program (3 months free when your friend buys a premium subscription) or a “Lifetime” membership option for $100. When you give an incorrect response, it says “try again,” but it just gives you the answer - wish there was a option to try again (at least 2 or 3 attempts - with more points when answering correctly on the first try).
Also wish there was an option to “check” a runner at 3rd before making a throw to 1st. For one question it says “a catcher fields a ball” (which gives away the obvious first step) - the question should be rephrased like “the batter bunts the ball directly in front of the catcher.” I haven’t tried the Premium ($20 per month)

There was no glitch but a user error. But thanks for the response.

Tricky to figure out how to make plays to get the out in the beginning but after that, it’s great!

This game is so fun and I love it is a very
Cool and interesting game. This game is very educational and it is a good game if you are a softball player or baseball player player like me it helps you with infield and outfield catcher and pitcher knowing what to do on the place so when you’re out there on the field you know what to do in games I love this game and I rate it five stars

I really love ThinkingBaseball anything that a player can use to help raise their baseball IQ is a good thing and it helps with making a lot of players thinking become almost 2nd nature because they have seen it before
by Roybotic
This is an amazing idea and app. Kids really learn quickly. Doesn’t crash every 4 minutes - or ever anymore. It is one of the most expensive apps I’ve ever purchased and now worth the money!!!

A very effective way to teach the critical fine points of the game. Anyone that's serious about winning either as a player or a coach should be using Thinking Baseball. It's a really great way to engage players to understand the fine points of baseball that so often make the difference between winning and losing. A fabulous secret weapon for every team!
by Travel Ball Troy
I play 13u Travel Baseball, and I downloaded ThinkingBaseball too keep my head in the game, even when I’m not on the field. The questions adjust accordingly to how many questions you get right or wrong. I would highly recommend ThinkingBaseball for new players, or even experienced players. ThinkingBaseball is great, and I would highly recommend it!

Even though I don't play baseball ThinkingBaseball helps me understand what is happening during the game itself. It is very productive and it deserves more than a 5 star review. ThinkingBaseball will help baseball coaches like my softball coach at york mr Johnson play out very good plays and moves. Thank you for creating a amazing app and I recommend it to anyone who's interested in baseball or a new way to teach kids and adults new plays that will help them win!!!!! -Catie

I like the idea but it can be confusing. It doesn’t let you know if the ball is on the ground or in the air.
I got an email from Neal at thinking baseball and he explained everything. I think I had my volume down also so I didn’t hear anything. I’m going to give it another try but I wanted to edit my review because they shouldn’t get low stars on my errors.
by Great Appppppppppppp
This is a great app to growing you baseball knowledge and IQ. Simple games and questions to increase your ability on the ball field. Pretty simple interface, very user friendly. Has potential to be more
by Matt Swen
I love how it gets you thinking. Also how there are different positions but you can adjust. For example ,if my son Will was the team’s catcher then I could make it so it only shows things that are for the catcher. Over all, this is a awesome app!

The first time I played this I was so impressed with the gameplay and how the mechanics worked. highly recommend this game to anyone and everyone who plays baseball.

Fun isn’t the right word, but this is exactly what I was looking for when I searched and it is an extremely enjoyable learning experience. The announcer is an amazing addition. Well designed and there are also sorting options by position so you can filter questions.

ThinkingBaseball is amazing. I play baseball and am pretty good with the physical part but my mental aspect is a little rusty. With ThinkingBaseball I can really inprove with that and my overall baseball playing
