Interstitial Ads Have Ruined The Game

The latest update punishes non-subscribers to a degree that is unacceptable. Before, it was an option to click to have and ad played so you can get bonus points awarded or have borders added to your puzzle to ease gameplay. However, much of ad-watching was completely optional. While you still have those options, there are now non-optional automatic ads played between every puzzle. This wouldn’t be as bad if it weren’t for the fact that most of the puzzles are solved in under a minute, so playing this game can easily end up being 50% gameplay and 50% watching ads. That is ridiculous. Some of the ads last longer than 30 seconds too (like the Empire and Puzzle ad that makes you watch a commercial than makes you wait 30 more seconds stuck in a game demo mode). The previous free-play (ad-supported) mode was far more acceptable.

Only download if you don’t mind spending nearly as much time watching non-optional ads as you do playing the actual game. Hopefully, the powers that be will reverse this asinine change. It seems designed to annoy players to subscribe at $4 month.

Progress reset, no response from customer service

There appeared to be some update a couple weeks ago. To that point I had completed all the free puzzle packs and all challenges, and was around level 126. Suddenly my level was reset to something like 106, and all the packs I had finished were no longer complete. I’ve been trying to contact customer service for the last two weeks. Only response I got was almost a week later and they were looking into it. More than two weeks later I’m still redoing all the puzzles I already did and haven’t even had the heart to go back to the challenges. All I want is to have my progress put back where it was before whatever crappy update they implemented

Love this new Bonza!

Current status: The developers have gone AWOL on loyal users. BonzaJigsaw is updated maybe once a year, and developers are non-responsive to any questions we may have or bugs we run into. The subscription price went up to $30 a year from around $20 (IIRC) but the value has plummeted. They have made the basic non subscription experience a lot worse to raise subscriber counts. At this rate, I’ll be deleting BonzaJigsaw out of principle.

Original Review: Bonza jigsaws were always amazing, both in their cameos on the original Bonza app (if I recall correctly) and in the Bonza Nat Geo app. When I saw they were doing a new app for just jigsaws, I couldn’t wait! I got into the Beta program and BonzaJigsaw is fantastic! I love how awesome it is. The yearly pack is worth it if it helps the devs get more of these amazing apps and stay on the daily puzzles. Keep up the great work, guys!

Bonza jigsaw

Overall I enjoy this game. Tho I seem to be experiencing some difficulties lately. A few weeks ago when I opened the game, it opened to “home” and after completing each and every puzzle it would reset back to home. Now after completing every puzzle the only option you are given is where you select “standard or mirror, patience, timed, etc. I have to close the game down and restart to go to the puzzle of my choice. I’m sure that is not how you designed the game and I do not like the idea of removing the the game and reinstalling it just to start from the beginning. Hopefully this is just an anomaly and something you can fix. I do like your Bonza games and play them regularly. Looking forward to seeing this current problem fixed.

Well done, but not for us older generation

Always enjoyed Bonza games. At one point, was buying all the packs as they were released (an upgrade at some point blew up and I had to reinstall, which lost over half of the puzzle packs I had paid for, and most of my coins, so I never bought anymore). Anyway, the jigsaws were the best, but few and far between. Some of the puzzles in this game are fun, but others are just too fast paced and annoying. I play these games as relaxation and fun. The timed games where I’m racing against the clock stressed me out so much that I was irritated and angry after I was done. Not why I play games.

Update: Thank you!

Update: With the addition of the option to turn off portion control, I downloaded BonzaJigsaw again. I've only done one puzzle and haven't really checked out the other features again yet, but I'm very happy with the puzzle I completed! Upgraded to 4 stars.

I don't like Bonza Jigsaw nearly as well as the jigsaw puzzles in Bonza NatGeo. There are a lot of new features in this game, and some of them could be great. But none of them can overcome the way the puzzles are presented.
Each puzzle is presented chunk by chunk, and I haven't found a way to disable this. So you get only a few pieces at a time, which makes the puzzle more manageable — but what if you don't want that? And worse, BonzaJigsaw automatically adjusts the zoom to make space every time it gives you new pieces. It's jarring and annoying.
I'm deleting BonzaJigsaw. I'll get my puzzles in Bonza NatGeo.

Love the jigsaw puzzles, but ...UPDATE

I completed the Starter Pack. The new features of pieces appearing as you connect currently showing pieces and needing to rotate pieces is interesting. I am concerned that as puzzles get larger and more complex those features may become more of a problem making play less enjoyable. Biggest complaint is that apparently you are making this a subscription puzzle but you don’t give the prices or pricing structure prior to starting the Free Trial. If you need to charge to play your puzzles, then charge, but give people a price up front.
** Update... Thank you to Bonza for responding to my comments. The update is great!! The option to rotate prices or not and the free daily puzzles are tremendous features. I love all Bonza games and play them daily. Thank you for unique, fun, challenging and entertaining puzzles and for listening to your fans.

Good but some issues

I play this game daily and subscribe to BonzaJigsaw to get more content but it takes way too long to get new content. They no longer give descriptions of what the puzzles are about which makes it kind of boring. Also, when you are playing on the feed screen and there are new puzzles to play it takes you off of the feed screen and automatically shunts you to that puzzle. Sometimes I just want to play the puzzles on the feed screen and let the new puzzles come when they do versus playing in the puzzle pack. Also why is there an option to close the screen when you are collecting bonus points? Overall I absolutely love to play BonzaJigsaw nightly but there are just a few things that they need to do to make it a great app.

Lots of ways to play but lots of ads

I opted not to subscribe (I think it was $3.99 a week but even $0.98 is a lot in a year) but you can still play most of the games. They have a question each day about a country and something about it (capital, animals, flowers etc) with two possible answers; you get points for right answers. Some answers are easy, some you may need to look up. Lots of puzzles from Nat Geo photos along with a little information. Some puzzles have time limits, some disappear, some are reversed, some have LOTS of pieces, some are simple and normal. You need to watch a video to play most puzzles. I love Nat Geo and am willing to sit thru all the ads because I love the photos and info and most of the puzzles are fun. You may find it too tedious.

Bonza Jigsaw

Interesting. Different and enticing toward new challenge. Enjoyed my few endeavors so far. Thanks

Definitely it raises the range of difficulty: I like the scope of BonzaJigsaw. However, I am 75, I do Not like the meager time to do one stage of play for jigsaws. Therefore, no five star. The majority of your players may be far younger and can physically manipulate the puzzle more quickly than I; however, given age and hand conditions I shall not.
I can either delete that portion from my attempts or quit playing. Meantime, everyone enjoy BonzaJigsaw - it is worthwhile and educational. It’s also fun. Widens our world views.

Love the puzzles, not the subscription

The occasional picture puzzles have always been my favorite in the original Bonza words games, so I was excited to have a whole game devoted to them. I enjoy he challenges (blind, flipped pieces, timed, etc), as well as the variety. And I don’t mind watching the ads to earn more bonus pieces to work toward unlocking more puzzles. But I don’t like the subscription requirement to access the daily puzzles. Keep the option to purchase puzzle packs with bonus points or actual cash, but lose the ongoing payment for subscribing to daily puzzles.

My favorite thing to do when stressed

I do a puzzle whenever I’m feeling a little anxious and it always puts me in a great place. I’ve been playing for years and it’s so fun. I wish they had the option to make puzzles have other levels (patience, rotation, blind and blitz). The other thing I really wish is that they would give you info about the pic at the end. Sometimes I spend a lot of time solving one and I have no idea what I’m looking at. A label for a pic would be a perfect reward for completing the puzzle.

Interesting concept

I love these puzzles and do them almost daily. The only thing I don’t like is that sometimes I’ll try and place a piece but the puzzle rejects it. However, when the next set of clue pieces comes out I’ll place a couple of them, then when I try that original piece again in that same spot it goes in. I’m not sure what the point is in only allowing pieces to be placed at certain times. Other than that I find the puzzle very entertaining.

A real gem..until you run out of puzzles

Update: I am now level 42 and have run out of puzzles to do? Now what do I do? There are no more puzzles once you level up past 36 and I even bought a few packs but now it seems like you have to buy the packs to move on? Doesn’t seem quite right.

I absolutely love BonzaJigsaw. I stumbled upon it and now, 6 hours later, I’m still playing it. It’s so relaxing and a great mind easer. I’ve had no problems, no glitches or bugs. Graphics are great as well as the scenes featured. I love, love, love BonzaJigsaw. Great job!

Great picture puzzles

Started playing when it was mostly word puzzles with an occasional picture puzzle. Was delighted to see BonzaJigsaw to all picture puzzles. Had a problem with the various presentations, especially releasing a few puzzle pieces at a time for the complicated ones, but I’m getting used to them. I do enjoy the “blind” puzzles that you work mainly by shape, also the “flip” puzzles. I was able to win one timer puzzle—it must have been a fluke. Really enjoy these and learn at the same time!

BONZA JIGSAW

This is a wonderful fun way to do puzzles. It can be challenging and relaxing at the same time. Great mind candy and keeps you guessing daily. The pictures are wonderful and you can solve the puzzles using different problem solving skills. I just wish that you could choose the type for each picture for I love the one for patience… I look forward to doing at least two daily. I also enjoy the Bonza word and Lace as well. Definitely one of my favorites! :)

Not what I was hoping for - much more!

I have been in love with Bonza’s jigsaw puzzles since the first one they had in Bonza National Geographic. I was thrilled when they announced they were working on a jigsaw-only game, and impatient for them to release it. It was worth the wait! I wasn’t sure how I would like pieces being added in gradually, but it is brilliantly done - it keeps you guessing about the ultimate size and allows for longer play and larger puzzles. Don’t worry though, there are still some smaller ones. The other mode variations - mirrored, rotated, blind, patience (get comfortable, this will take a while), and blitz (timed), are so much better, more fun, than I ever imagined! Word of warning: highly addictive, I hardly got a thing done yesterday!

Delightfully Occupied!

So happy to have these puzzle pictures to play - they’re a refreshing change to the usual jigsaw puzzle programs. Having just a few pieces show up at a time makes it easier to navigate on a small screen; plus it gives you a challenge as to what the picture is actually going to end up looking like. Border hints are better now that they’re in red (used to be yellow/hard to see). And so many options to choose from on what categories to try, trivia questions, puzzle twists, and more. You guys have outdone yourselves. Kiddos!!

Really enjoy this game

I have update this rating to reflect that the game people responded promptly to my email about this situation. Delighted to find actual customer service.

Enjoy this game, but sometimes I only get through two puzzles before the game freezes after viewing an ad. This seems to happen with the non-video ads, such as the one for solitaire. Game stays frozen until I do a hard restart. That’s no way to enjoy a game that is otherwise quite enjoyable! (I just installed the game this week, so I presume I have the most recent updates and bug fixes.) please sort out! Thank you!

One suggestion

This is a great game and I enjoy solving every day. I realize you cannot feasibly translate captions into multiple languages for the free daily puzzles, but might you caption it in just one, consistent language? For example, always print it in Spanish, or German. Then we can enter that caption into a translator for our own language and see the photo’s origin. Thank you for this fun puzzle!
