They need to keep this update.

2022-05-22

There is no chain-up area on this map. Shows road is good. And I am sitting at a chain up area. I would not have left so early and started my clock. This map is a great way to screw truck drivers over on time. Some need to get off there hind end and keep this map update!!!!

Poor substitute for San Diego Real Time Traffic map!

2022-06-23

The SDRTT map gives/gave you the colors, but also the real time data from the freeway sensors. Red is slow - so do you want the 10 mph slow route or the 2 mph slow route? You'll never know which is which with CaltransQuickMap. This has many details, like each ramp and transition, but if it's backed up you don't have to zoom to the ramp to know it's clogged.

The SDRTT map had/has a link to the current CHP activity in chronological order, so you could easily see what events were affecting your drive now without having to click on all of the events.

Don't make the state maps like Google, make them like the SDRTT map! Give us more info, not less!

Lives up to the CalTrans reputation

2022-07-24

I tried CaltransQuickMap on a trip up 395. To my surprise it had the route closed due to weather, last updated 5 minutes ago! It was a 90 minute trip to the closure… But knowing a little about the CalTrans reputation, I decided to drive it to verify the closure rather than scrap my vacation.
Turned out the “Road Closure” was a sign that suggested motorists carry chains with them.
Had a great vacation. Deleted CaltransQuickMap .

The good and the bad and the meh

2022-08-25

Very helpful that CaltransQuickMap shows the locations of roadside rest areas (which information can’t be found on Caltrans web site or Google Maps). But the information on road closures is wildly inaccurate, showing closures that don’t exist and missing those that do exist. This could actually be a danger to people who rely on it for mountain driving. The rest is just repackaged info from Google Maps and Waze, but since Quick Maps has so little accurate and useful info of its own, yours better off getting your traffic and incident info from Google or Waze

PLEASE UPDATE THE APP!

2022-09-26

Guys. Last update was a year ago?? Please, please, please. Update your app. There are so many issues and UI problems. Great place for valuable information but impossible to use given all the bugs in CaltransQuickMap version.

Traffic cams

2022-10-27

Why aren’t the traffic cams live why can’t they be video I hate the still images because they are not live and you can’t see cars moving can you please please update if you do I will give you 5 stars ⭐️!

Only slightly helpful on its best day

2022-11-28

The information is always hours behind what gets posted by Caltrans on Twitter. Also, the camera I need on a daily basis for safety due to fog only works maybe 25% of the time. Basically CaltransQuickMap is just frustrating and doesn’t help me.

Map icons are small

2022-12-29

Can you make the icons bigger on the map so they’re easier to see where the various items of interest are cameras, chain controls, CMS etc.

Ok but

2023-01-30

Not as useful as the old San Diego real time traffic report which was excellent. This version actually manages to give less information than the RTTR which you could zoom into a single freeway and get a list of actual freeway speeds. This gives you 4 colors instead and doesn’t tell what they mean. You have to guess what red means and exactly where the threshold between red and orange might lie likewise or age to green. Wow! high resolution: 3 bands and some other 4th unknown one. Versus mph list, no contest.
However it is a pretty map, albeit lacking in info vs the old one, so if they add some definition of the colors without me having to google for them plus bring back the old speed list view as an overlay somehow then I’ll give it a five.

Helpful app, but seems to be lacking an important feature…

2023-03-03

This is a great app for checking road conditions in your area or along rural routes when traveling on vacation. It even allows you to view traffic camera views along routes, which is very neat! However there seems to be a very important feature that CaltransQuickMap could use and that is having customer service forms integrated into CaltransQuickMap . This can already be accessed via web browser but can be difficult to use at a given moment on the road. With that being said, a more user-friendly hazard-reporting interface inside CaltransQuickMap will help those traveling the vast road system quickly report maintenance problems etc. and help keep CAs roads clean and functional!

iPhone Xr issues with location button

2023-04-01

On iPhone XR, the location and refresh buttons stack on top of each other. This makes it hard to push the correct one. I can send screenshot if needed

Great app but crashing today!

2023-05-03

I use CaltransQuickMap to navigate all traffic but as of today, it crashes on opening. No updates seen. I hope it gets fixed soon. With all option layers on, this is the most comprehensive app I have found. I wish the fire layer were still active.

Great App for Travel!

2023-06-03

Downloaded CaltransQuickMap a while ago prior to traveling to Mammoth Lakes and what a great help. Use it daily while driving.

Is there anyway the Locations can be EXTENDED to cover other parts of America?

Just curious it would be great to have fire, road work / closures etc ...

Tom

Great App for Traffic Conditions

2023-07-05

This is a great app. Mostly downloaded to see traffic cams at will. However, the traffic cams only show a still image and not live video streaming. That feature would make CaltransQuickMap even better.

Very useful; need Terrain view

2023-08-05

Easier to use than equivalent web page. Need to be able to change base Google Map view to “Terrain” (very helpful in mountainous areas). May as well also allow Satellite, though that’s less useful. The web version allow Terrain and Satellite already.

Thanks to my apple support that spent hours on the phone with me. They had a difficult time doing it. But they did not give up!
Thanks again

SO HELPFUL

2023-10-08

QuickMap is an outstanding resource when traveling in the winter. Up to date road closures, chain requirements, camera views, traffic slow-downs...etc.

An easy to use but essential travel tool for navigating these winter storms and flooding that have changing conditions every hour.

CalTrans app is very well designed. Bravo !

2023-11-08

Lots of easy to use road conditions info on CaltransQuickMap.

Very good App

2023-12-10

I use CaltransQuickMap for general information on CHP incidents and road conditions. Chain control info and location of snow plows in real time is very useful, as is the sign information.
I have had no issues running this on my iPhone 11.

Great resource

2024-01-10

Thanks for making CaltransQuickMap to make access to all the caltrans info easy. It’s very helpful for planning long motorcycle rides.

Most accurate traffic and road conditions app

2024-12-19

Please, update to include the new iPhone XS Max screen to properly display app controls.

Very informative

2024-12-19

A very good app for planning travel. Has saved me a lot of time and hassle avoiding traffic.

The app is wrong at least 50% of the time. Road is closed but not marked on the app. Last night the sign cal trans put up said West 210 closed but it was the East 210. Tonight closed the 5N to 210E. Appbsaid open buy there was a sign routing onto Roxford.....wait for it Roxford was closed for construction. This app is a joke. Do not rely on it to tell you about road closures. The people who control it should be fired for incompetence.
