UPDATE: Thank you to the developers for getting back and fixing this. Really appreciate you doing the right thing by your loyal customers. I will now leave full stars as this is a great app I use often.

I had already paid a year or two ago to remove watermark and buy all the fonts. Now today ie since the latest update it's trying to make me buy for $20 a year what I already bought. This is not fair to your loyal and old customers. It's not right guys. Sure make new customers pay these fees if you wish. But your old customers who have already paid should just be left be. How is this ok? We got no warning at all. Please fix guys. I am always telling people to download HypeType as I really did love it. Please do the right thing by your loyal customers of many years. Thank you.

This seems like a good app with the potential to be a great app with some improvements. I was even considering buying HypeType - but then on trying it out.... I saw HypeType would not proceed to show anything or cannot work or go to any screen unless it is given camera access. I gave it access to camera and then added access to camera roll. I later removed camera access thinking it should be able to work off the camera roll access but it was back to the initial screen requiring camera access. This is a huge red flag for me as I feel it should be able to work off the camera roll access where my photos and videos are saved and I would use in HypeType. Please FIX this - this is terrible design and workflow. I would never compromise my privacy / security for any app ever and will not be buying HypeType if it works this way. I am forced to delete the free version as it is no use to me in this state.

So I really like HypeType, it’s great for making Insta stories. For me, I need my text to be able to be both upper case and lower case text, and also to be able to selectively italicize. For me these limitations are turning me away from the paid version. Also I have problems with the video, when I bring in one of my own, it makes a black window for a certain amount of time and I can’t get rid of it, also turning me away from the paid version. I end up with about 6 seconds of black with animating text, then the last animated text will be over the video, then the video continues to play without any text. This happens when I have multiple pages. I think when it’s one page the issue isn’t there. Pretty frustrating. Once these things are fixed I will gladly pay for the premium version

I absolutely have loved HypeType and used it daily. I already purchased to remove the watermarks, etc. I share HypeType with my entire work team as well. We have all ALREADY purchased to remove the watermarks, but now with the new update it requires a $20 payment to unlock. This wouldn't be a problem if we had not each already paid $3 when that was the set price. When you try to restore your purchase it does now allow you to do so. Very sad to stop using + going to have to share about the scam of an app I once loved to use! There are several other video editing apps that I plan to try now, though! Going to report to BBB if my purchases are not restored or my $3 is not returned.

I bought HypeType to unlock all the functions and remove the this app watermark a few months ago. I used it nearly everyday for my IG stories. All of a sudden after an update, I noticed the watermark was back. I emailed whom I bought HypeType from only to find out that they had sold HypeType . Well the new owners aren’t honoring the people who had ALREADY purchased HypeType and now they want you to pay $20 a year. What?! No way! I’m moving on unless they fix the issue. I’ve already contacted Apple for a refund or to fix the issue. And I’ve already tried to delete HypeType , reinstall it, and restore. It doesn’t work. In fact, when you try and restore, HypeType basically just ignores it. I am beyond disappointed. I’ve made a new IG story about it (NOT using this app) and I’m not the only one as others are also agreeing with me. I’d use it again if they fix the issue and honor the customers who’ve already bought HypeType. This is ridiculous. They are certainly going to ruin their high star rating very rapidly.

HypeType functionality is great. I use HypeType to add flashy text that says “New Post” and sometimes music over an image I’d just posted on Instagram, so that I can upload this saved project into my Insta Stories and make people aware I just posted new content. The only down side to HypeType is that HypeType does no retain the colors of the image you import into it. It changes the colors to have a very purple/pink tone. I’m glad I’m not actually posting the project from HypeType onto my wall, so for now it will suffice for just a story post, but if I were using it for content on my wall, I’d trash HypeType . Also, it would be nice to have a “browse” function for music and that the music would ply longer snippets over the image. Sometimes I don’t have a specific song in mind and the snippets are very short on the image unless you speed up the playback of the song.

Pretty awesome! I like all the styles. But I wish we could import videos/images from our Camera Roll as well, since I have some images that I can't take in real life and NEED some good animated text. I also wonder if we can personally customize the color of the text. The options we have are pretty versatile, but sometimes it still doesn't fit. A simple color wheel would help that, or even a selection of colors for one thing or the other (like, picking one hue for the text and selecting another for any lines?).

Want to start by saying I enjoy this all and use it weekly across social media platforms to inform my followers that I have a new post up. I love the effects and the music adds a very nice touch. Once you get past the automatic cropping ratio, HypeType is very useful.

However, the new update forces you to pay $20 a year to remove the watermarks as well as locks some features. This wouldn’t be a problem if I had not already paid $3 before the update to remove the watermark and to use all the other effects. When I try and restore my purchase, HypeType will act like it ignores my request and has locked me out from removing watermarks. I feel as if I should not have to pay again to unlock all the features I had previously bought. If the developers can fix this issue, then of course I will continue to use HypeType. For the meantime, I will be using another app to inform my followers.

I totally love HypeType. It makes your photos stand out so much more and catches the eyes of everyone. I love using it for photos I put on my IG stories or highlights. I do believe there could be more options and they should allow you to change the font on all letters because you may love “A” but want the font of “R”. They should also give you more color choices in my opinion they have the same colors over and over. Since the recent update I’ve also noticed that sometimes after saving my photo and leaving HypeType , the words don’t show up when I go to post on my IG so there’s still a few bugs that need to be worked out. Please Hype Type add the features I wrote above and make HypeType better with more features as recommended. I would’ve gave it 5 stars if HypeType had what I recommended above.

I used to love HypeType. I bought the full version months ago. I’ve used it in all of my promo videos for my business. The effects looked so professional and the music had all the latest songs . NOW....HypeType with this new update and watermark feature is completely ruined. All the apps are wanting you to pay for subscriptions. I absolutely refuse based off principle. I paid for the full version and then all of a sudden I come back and can’t get everything I paid for. Not to mention the removal of the watermark was the main reason I paid for HypeType in the first place. I’m highly disappointed. There’s really not another app like this especially with the quality of effects. But that high subscription cost is where I draw the line. Definitely not worth it. I’ll pay a one time fee if I like HypeType but not 2x to get the same thing I had, let alone monthly. HypeType is ruined!

You are entitled to make money. The world is based on making money. The problem is ALL app and program creators are getting greedy and going insane. From Adobe down to the small app developer. I don’t mind paying for something that is worthwhile and good. I’m actually against the word free. The word free has ruined my business. BUT- there needs to be a line drawn in reality of where you are out of touch and not in reality. $20/ year to remove the watermark and get all the fonts for your little app to write on a photo is not reality.

I also think you need to put your app in perspective - this is NOT an annual payment type of app. NOT EVEN close. This is a $4.99 - $6.99 one time purchase app for something of this caliber and when you make big improvements or additions - then perhaps charge an additional $1.99, $2.99, etc for those upgrades. $20/ yr for this is crazy.

Dear this app Developers,

I like your app. I personally think $20 per year is a bit much more though for what’s offered. I write to ask you to fix a bug and hopefully add a few more features for the paid option. The bug: I can’t paste any text I copied into the this app which drives me crazy. I have to type long quotes myself! I use this app daily and the fact that I can’t paste the text start getting to me since I paid for HypeType . Would you please take a look at this bug and fix it.
I hope for some additional options such as the ability to keep the text from beginning to end on my video. Also I wish for the ability to pick multiple photos/videos to work with as oppose to just one.

I read other people that said they had the full featured version of this but were prompted to purchase for $20. This happened to me as well & originally when I clicked the “restore” it said it was restored & to restart HypeType . After doing that a couple times with the watermark still there, I ended up doing the trial subscription. I haven’t been as active on IG for a bit but intend to be more creative & active again & hope to use HypeType . If it’s worth it, I guess I may deem it worth the cost. I just don’t like the bait & switch approach. Bc I remember even the original price being a lot higher than most apps at the time. Is there way to refund the difference at the very least?

I paid for HypeType to unlock all the features which included to the no watermark. Now I have to pay AGAIN because they changed the way there doing things. This upsets me very much because I should have gotten a notification. It won’t let me restore my previous purchase. This isn’t work the $20 a year. I’ll find something else.

UPDATE: They restored the "Restore purchase" option and I now have my purchased items back. Thank you to the developers that worked so fast to correct an issue.

Great concept. Cool features. But why does the font not only fly by too fast (even at x.5 slowest setting with short sentences) but also why doesn’t the font last as long as the length of the video? This only allows a less than 30sec video and then the typed words only last half of that at a speed too fast to read. What am I doing wrong? I wasn’t able to use an entire 37sec video and even using four sliding-view separate word bubbles was tricky. Please someone tell me how to post a longer video with longer music and how to slow the words down to fit it. Until then this good for people who want to post a very quick little blurb.

What about those of us who paid for it before?? I just bought HypeType a few months ago and now I have to pay for a subscription? I’m surprised you don’t grandfather in your original purchasers—or at least give us a discount on the first year’s subscription. I’m just going to find a new app now...

I am quite upset that I paid for the upgraded version of HypeType to remove their logo. Unannounced to me my app auto-updated and the new version has removed this and I am now stuck with their logo on my graphics unless I pay for their subscription. Since I already paid I feel misled and like I got scammed.

It’s a great app could use a little help though...
1👍🏻 it allows you to overlay a number of different fonts onto the images you chose
2 👍🏻 allows you to upload to photos or directly to a number of SNS platforms
3 👍🏻 infinite number of tries & saves
4👍🏻 can make up to four pages of fonts and emojis
5👎🏻 certain cool extras within a font choice are limited to the fonts within that choice so bold or vice versa isn’t always an option with the embellishments
6👍🏻can be put over any picture or even moving images
7 neither good or bad lol but creates a moving image when uploading because of overlaying font on pic
8👎🏻can take forever sometimes finding an image because you have to know exactly where it is in you photos
9👎🏻a lot of times when scrolling it shuts app but 👍🏻thankfully opens back up to where you were in your search

I love HypeType , it is just HypeType I've been looking for, and I’ve been looking for months. It has many different styles, you can combine multiple videos or photos, you can adjust colour, placement, I love it. A few things that can be improved are that you cannot pause the video, making it hard to adjust things sometimes. Also, see if you can add in that each section of text can have different colouring and/or placement.

I am not sure if this is just me but it definitely does not size photos well. Most pictures I put in don't fit properly or I'm forced to cut of part of the picture. I'd like to take pictures not directly on HypeType and have them go into HypeType and just keep them exactly how they are and add the type. I strongly dislike cutting out parts of the picture as when I take pictures I take them exactly how I want them!

Also I haven't been able to figure out how to keep the type in a single like without stacking it. It keeps wanting to stack all the type when I'd rather have it smaller but in a single line. Really limits placement in pictures....
