Invasive ads with recent update

I’ve been using Fires for a couple years and love it. I live in fire country and Fires provides a needed service. I do not mind seeing ads in exchange for this service. But after a recent app update, I am now seeing invasive, full-screen ads that will not allow me to exit until they have completed the 5-second countdown. This is a serious problem and they need to update it to get rid of the invasive ads. When people are looking for vital safety information, they shouldn’t be forced to watch ads. Stick to the smaller ones that show up in the corners. I’m fine with those. Your users are here to view vital safety information. We are not playing a video game. Many people don’t have 5 seconds to waste while waiting for information about wildfires. I find this unsafe and disrespectful.

The Sorry Demise of This App

The “Free” addition has Banner ads like EVERYONE else, BUT these characters have recently decided to ALSO add
FULL PAGE ads with AUDIO!!!! But wait... there’s more! You can’t close the blaring full page ad for a required amount of time!
Everyone else who has tried full page ads has dropped that poorly advised money making scheme. Why? FPAs even without sound are so annoying, you ultimately make less from the 90% of people who refuse to pay subscription fees and dump your app or at the very least will now use it far less (10 % usage?) than they used to. While you screw around waiting until your revenues go down, you’ve also lost mega customers who have already deleted your app.
Get with it !!!

Accurate with great maps!

Very reliable data with easy to see maps.
I love the color satellite maps. They are updated daily at a minimum. In the spring I could make out areas that had an abundance of green growth, as well as areas of the mountains still covered in snow.
If a fire has a significant smoke impact, that is also visible on the satellite map.
Details include cause of fire when known and size and containment percentages.
Highly recommend Fires!

map Completely Dark??

Hey Idk why this is happening all of the sudden— Fires was working just fine for me a couple of days ago. But whenever I try to load a 🗺 iOS game , the earth stays pitch black. A few fire icons might show up; but I have no idea where they are since the background is blacked out..... 😬😬

Please fix this soon, I enjoy Fires otherwise!

Awesome Pics!

Fires keeps getting better and better! I like that it has now separated the this app into prescribed this app and wildfires, all of the info about each fire, and now I’m loving being able to see all of the pictures taken at each fire! It’s great to see the firefighters working hard and getting the job done. So great to see the great work these brave people do. 😃

A Quick Impression Review

I like Fires. It has a lot of information well displayed. And it seems pretty thorough. And it delivers information in many different ways, so that's pretty nifty.

On the downside, there is a bit of a learning curve, the functions are not always intuitive. And it's kinda slow, takes a while for pages to load.

Plus it needs a map that combines all fire fighting entities into one graphic, so the user isn't forced to keep jumping back and forth between slowly loading pages.

Another thing, the software that controls this review page keeps dropping the cursor and writing functions at some preset interval, whether someone is entering typing or not. That's really annoying.

Mislabeled historical map

This seems to be an awesome app with useful links going into cal fire season however the historical fire map is pretty mislabeled. The actual Creek fire from last summer is not on it yet and there is a creek fire labeled in Mariposa county. The Rim fire is missing completely and the giant fire east of the Telegraph and Detwiler this app isn’t labeled at all. While it may not be the developer’s fault the map is wrong they may consider using an accurate map link.

I do like the resources links tho I haven’t cross referenced them for accuracy.

The app is not accurate

The developer knows there are issues and try’s denying the issues calling reviews fake. I have screenshots of Fires not showing the willowfire until days later. Now creekfire is not live. Do not trust Fires . Pls see other similar reviews.

Spam lol just fix Fires . There are other people stating the same issue, must be true.

If it’s spam why to the this app in question magically appear in your app after my reviews? The creekfire is now there. I have screenshots from both issues and also how you claim spam but add the event after my review. St

Living in an area of beautiful trees

This forest is wonderful and we have a very large space cleared around our home, barn
& shop. But even so it can be very worrisome when even a tiny fire starts
From a Lightning Strikes.

A friend texted us this morning to let us know she had heard on her scanner that there was small but nearby Fire.

It was comforting to know that Cal Fire knew about it already by checking out their website ‼️ During yesterday’s rainstorm
and many lightning strikes, several small this app had started. However we are blessed
to have the hard working Cal Fire crews!

App was great until the large incidents disappeared

I used Fires for a few months with confidence until a week or so ago when the large incidents view went blank. Unfortunately, I can’t even see the large fire 50 miles away from me in Oregon in any view so this has definitely undermined my confidence in Fires . It’s wildfires. I’m in Oregon. If you only report some of the this app Fires is useless and dangerous to depend upon. Please fix this and let us know when you have. Until then I’m deleting it. Bummer.

Developer Support

It was easy to reach out to the developer when i had questions. Support interface was a little confusing at first, but when i found the form to log my question, developer got back to me right away. I’m looking forward to making Fires work for my purposes.

Traveler

Drove across America and used Fires everyday everywhere to plan our driving and camping. We didn’t want to go to areas that had crowding from people running for their lives and consume their stores supplies and camping spots. Definitely a useful tool for road tripping. Don’t want to drive into an oven. Be safe.

Personal Review

I’ve seen many apps from Wunderground to Clima.
I really like the utility of Fires being the data comes from GOES, USGS, other trusted sources w/
a reasonable recycle rate. I’m a seasoned weather enthusiast; so I know what I’m looking at & why.
I’m very appreciative. Thank you. 👏🏿👏🏿💯

Data apparently not updated regularly

Last year (2020), Fires was great. This year, the chart doesn’t reflect all the this app, including some that are reported on the news here in Wa. Also, displaying active fire data from Cal Fire does not match the data when displaying all active this app on Inciweb. Can’t tell whether it’s Fires or data source. Either way, disappointing at this time.

Richard Walters, Smoke/Lookout

I use your app to keep track of this app in my area when I’m working in the summertime.
The only thing I’d like to see if current this app on your site, faster. It took your people almost 2 weeks to show the Carr Fire and it’s location and size.

Good news...fires are all out!!!!

Loved this at first but the the this app I am tracking intermittently disappear from the map and today when I checked, the entire country appeared to be fire free meaning every fire in the nation had fallen off the map. It also tracks this app that are no longer active. Great visually when data is current but inconsistent and unreliable. The ads never fail though.

There is smoke, where's the fire?

I am pleased with the current and accurate fire information provided through Fires. It has helped me understand more about the California wildfires and my asthma risks.

Margie

Fires kept us safe on 101 in CA during all these this app. Had to reinstall it once as it went wonky, flipping images upside down and sideways. Seems ok now. Would like to know what the side buttons do and can’t find the color legend promised. Definitely a good app to have.

Accurate maps

It's great to find an app with such accurate and up to date information. I would definitely recommend Fires to anyone that is looking for wildfire maps.

Excellent!

First thing I look at after waking. Fire season is pretty much year-round now in ca. We find Fires very valuable. We have family across the US, this helps us know of threats they could be facing. Excellent mapping as well. Many uses.

By

This would be a great app, if it worked.

I can’t get anything to load which would be very dangerous as I am in a big fire zone. If I couldn’t get the data in time it could prove lethal.
Shows me a nicely constructed map and a spinny progress bar that never finishes loading. No fire data at all.
I hope they can fix this. Until then, I’ll be using a different app.

Grateful

So grateful for data on this app. Living in California up to date information is imperative. Thank you. You are often the best and most up to date site for information!!! Kreshia246

Valuable Resource

Fires has the essential links that make this a must-have for anyone wanting to have up to date information on wildfires. The developer is very responsive to addressing issues quickly and effectively.

Great for families of firefighters!

One of my sons is a wild land firefighter, and Fires gives great data for families with members working hard in remote locations, and keeps us informed when cell services are not available - THANK YOU!

By

Very Nice App

I have been looking for a complete, accurate, up-to-date Fire app and this one is both accurate and very complete. Highly recommend it.

By

Does not tell me anything

I downloaded Fires as wildfire season is amongst us here in california, yet not one map provided on Fires ever shows me where there are this app. It just shows a blank map with a loading sign. Would like to know when there is a fire nearby that could end my life or destroy my things

Must Have if you live in fire-prone areas

Use this fabulous App with a good scanner and you will be way, way ahead of the game with added situational awareness which is critical.
