RNI Colibri Reviews

After spending hours and hours and hours screwing around with edits in Lightroom, it’s very nice to just bang away on this one-button app for awhile. It’s quite cathartic and a little addictive, actually.

RNIColibri will generate good looking film emulations automatically. The results RNIColibri produces are pretty impressive given it’s ease of use. It’s great for getting a bunch of different ideas for what you can do with an image came. But, there are some pretty big flaws that prevent it from being RNIColibri I actually edit photos with.

I have one major issue with RNIColibri. And one smaller issue.

Pictures edited with RNIColibri are exported as PNGs and stripped of all metadata. There is no option to export to a different format and no option to keep metadata. Big issue for me.

Once an edit is generated, the options to adjust the edit are sparse and clunky. Maybe the clunky part comes from using RNIColibri on an iPad but the editing controls are not placed well. The iPad has lots of room and it is not utilized. More importantly, you don’t get curves, vector scope, and other very important editing tools. You only get a few basic sliders.

What’s upsetting is that the issues I have with RNIColibri are easily fixed. If they do get fixed (mainly the metadata issue) I would use and recommend RNIColibri much more than now.

Otherwise a great app, the only minuses for me would be that RNIColibri doesn’t fit iPhone Xs screen well. And that skin tones usually look pretty red and ugly, so it would be nice if there would be a possibility to adjust skin tones like in VSCO app. Overall more settings would be cool.

RNIColibri delivers something I’ve only dreamed of on a digital platform. Well worth purchasing, Along with the other app. Usually what I do with RNIColibri is add an edge or nostalgia to my pictures.

Love the unique filters. I hope there’s more to come.

RNI has always been good at delivering apps that potentially give you — as their name suggests — really nice images. If I wish to elevate a great iPhone photo, Colibri is now my go-to app. It's the same caliber of pleasing film-like looks RNI is known for with a bit more control you don't get with RNI Flashback, but not as much as you can with RNI Films. Colibri is the best of both worlds: it gives me just the right amount of essential control over an image with the same great film-inspired magic that makes Flashback so endearing. Colibri is simple to use and a great middle child in the already wonderful RNI mobile app family.

After the latest maintenance update both Colibri and Flashback cannot save to the camera roll now.

Love the intuitive, simple editing option RNIColibri provides for someone like me who doesn't like much fussing with edits! Please add a sharpening tool in your advance controls that would be most appreciated.

The colour output of RNIColibri is absolutely phenomenal. Can't get enough of it.

I use it for nature and street photography, and it works pretty much like slide. Even like Kodachrome in many instances.

I downloaded this for my phone and found that the picture quality was poor and did not appreciate the effects delivered. After 20 minutes of playing with it I decided that it was a waste of time and so deleted it. Others may like the grainy / blotchy effects but it made skintones look to red.

All I can say is RNIColibri is stunning. Creates realistic film looks

Great app, easy to use layout, offers different filters & adjustments than most other photo apps.
It's good stuff, definitely worth $1.

RNIColibri generates nice random effects. Though how can I apply the same effect on another photo? Please help!
