I disagree with many of the positive reviews here. I signed up for a premium subscription. I also agreed to a 2 week trial of the leaderboard. I downloaded the app and started reviewing the app. Right off an ad popped up. I was thinking by paying to use the site, no ads would appear. I could not cancel the ad without exiting the app and restarting. Also, the detail of stocks is limited. There are dozens of free apps that provided a whole lot more information on stocks than this app. The leader board I agreed to pay around $50 per month after the 2 week trial, provided a list of stocks IBD thinks will breakout or are buys. Guess what... the other apps I have been using listed the very same stocks without paying a subscription. When I did see a couple stocks recommended that I had not seen on any other list, I had to go to another app to read the summary of the stock, look for volume traded per day etc.... even the screener I found here isn’t as good as what my trading account provides for free. I’m disappointed. I thought one or two recommendations for trades here may pay for this program. But I wouldn’t feel comfortable making a trade recommended from here when they can’t even present a decent web page to research why they recommend a stock.

It’s as if the folks at Investor’s Business Daily can’t be bothered updating their apps. This one, Swing Trader, Leaderboard etc are phone versions only. They would likely look great filling the screen of an iPad … if anyone at IBD would be bothered to do it. If they can’t stay up with the times for this … it makes one wonder how little time and effort they are spending on the rest. Until they do … I will not consider subscribing. Note: MarketSmith is the only app that does look good on an iPad).
Also…
- alerts when tapped on do not take you to the article that generated the alert. Instead it throw me into the most recent video … which typically has nothing to do with the article.
- IBD bombards you with advertising in their products, website etc … often for products you may already have. I get trying to advertise your other products … but hitting existing customers up with promos for products the customer already subscribes to is just inconsiderate, clumsy and short sighted… not to mention it gives off an air of incompetence.

App is good, but not great! Don’t get me wrong, IBD’s content is second to non. But the presentation of that content leaves much to be desired. The much needed iPad version is no where to be found? Which is a real shame given the potential of displaying charts on a larger iPad display. There is a real lack of coherent menus that could used to navigate IBD’s numerous content sections. For example, there is no way to navigate or find “The Big Picture” link? One must read through different articles and basically stumble upon it? Finally, IBD app is only for paying customers so why is the user getting bombarded with constant advertisement? This alone makes for a very poor user experience, especially on small iPhone screens.
