The valves fail all the time. The power cord is flimsy and not secured to the unit, which given one of my install locations is problematic. Somehow it’s too dumb to be able to tell when no water is coming from the main vs a valve failure. All the digital system restarts and open close functions never work. You can turn it off, wait 5 minutes. Nothing happens. Close and open the app nothing happens. I have this at 2 properties. Same issues at both. Latest iPhone software etc. just junk unreliable and overactive. The only thing it should actually be allowed to do is turn off if there’s a catastrophic amount of water loss. Honestly. Have turned down sensitivity. Have set it to learn and relearn the house. Have had it 2+ years. Take a bath - boom whole house goes off. Takes 10 tries to get the valve back on. It’s gotten to the point now where I take my phone with me into the shower when I have to get up super early and shower at an unusual time because it’s guaranteed that after 5 minutes it will shut off all my water. My insurance required it. I wish I could rip it out or find another product that is better.

I’ve had the flo itself for 6 months and while it’s a great idea I think it doesn’t really work. It only shuts off 5 minutes after a leak has happened, meaning a lot of water spills before it does anything at all. That is if it detects the water. Because you run faucets and use water all at the time and after a while it just gets used to it. The only option in the app is to “ignore” a certain alert. But I have ignored so many things, by now I fear it wouldnt even react if I had a breach somewhere. Add to that, the app. It is really beta and requires a do over. Unlike any other smart app it does not detect wether you’re home, so every time you leave and arrive you have to set this manually!!! Needless to say I forget 95% of the time. Also it all works with message popups, and doesnt allow a lot of control. It feels limited and not smart at all. I should have looked elsewhere. There are much more intelligent solutions out there, where the developers take more care that their product actually works. This is a mess right now.

I don’t really find this app useful any more and it wasn’t that useful to begin with.
I suddenly can no longer tell what appliance is using the water. Everything is listed as Other. Which is not helpful. Especially if it says for example 300 gallons of water used. Okay, how and by what device? Was it the total for the day including toilets, showers, faucet, washing machine etc.
I dislike not being able to label devices/appliances. It could never identify the washing machine or dishwasher. And it turns off too frequently. I regularly take showers that are sometimes 15+ minutes and have done so since before I had this app. And now suddenly, I have my water threatened to be turned off after 10 minutes, but it happens inconsistently. I don’t know what info the app is using to determine that this particular shower is unusual. The only useful thing about it is the ability to turn the water off and on from the phone. Other than that, this app and device are useless.
