Here is what the app or website doesn’t do. It does not allow you to browse frame color. The app and site preselects colors for you taking away your choice of color and personal preference. For example I had a pair of clear frames which I received many compliments on. The option for clear won’t come up in my profile as a choice selection. There is also no information or choice regarding a narrow, average or wide viewing corridor for a progressive. You cannot access this information on the website and you can’t even look at the frames and color without the app. So they get all your information. My background color was green so the app picked up that color and made choices based on they color. I don’t have a white wall to use this app. Hope this helps everyone. If a narrow corridor works for you then great. But a narrow corridor gives me neck back and shoulder pain for all the compensation I have to do to accommodate them type of glasses.

On paper, this is a good idea. But in practice, it’s terrible. In order for the app to work, the user must fully extend their arms, while keeping the phone steady and vertically straight at the same time. Only then will the app allow you to start the process. Then you must slowly turn your head side to side so that the camera can scan the shape of your face. I found this impossible to accomplish since you will never get past the first step because your arm will never be still. Momentarily you will be able to find the perfect fit, but because your arms are fully extended, the slight movement they make, or the motion you make when you try to go and press the “start” button, will throw the camera off-balance and make the process restart once again. It’s incredibly frustrating and it failed. As a solution, I used a mere ruler and the selfie camera on my phone for better, quicker, and easier results.

This app and company attempts to mislead consumers by making claims of making frames specifically for an individual. The reality is that every optical in the industry has already been doing this since the creation of modern opticals. Eyecare professionals around the globe study and master the art of different face shapes and sizes to provide the best comfort and outcome for everyone that needs glasses. The claim that opticals base everyone off a single design is simply a blatant lie. I could understand if someone bought their glasses online (or on an app like this) and never received the proper adjustments to fit their face, then it’s probably not going to fit great. But that’s the whole point of ordering glasses from a local, trustworthy eyecare professional that knows how to properly take care of you...not simply make up a “just for you-snake oil” approach to taking your money.
