Too many ads- tried to get them removed - no icon to press on & pay the fee to remove them permanently.

Need to fix it were one a member can upgrade their account to include no ads. Currently does not work. Frozen

The filters need to be refined where they match and not have people that are not matched with the filters and one can change the filters in terms of country, gender and AGE range.

Have the option of joining a group or not and turn it off.

Should let adults 25+ make their own decision if they want to develop a personal friendship off the website and not censor or read messages. It’s an online friendship in learning a new language and meeting a person. Chances of meeting in real life are less than 15%. You are not a law enforcement agency
Rather an educational agency. As long as you have written the warning suggesting to not exchange personal
contact information that is sufficient. People have the freedom to choose Yes or No - you are not our parents or guardians.

So MakeJapaneseFriendsLangmate works like the tinder app that makes you swipe through hundreds of people, except it’s for language exchanging and with the added bonus that you can’t specify which country you want to see people from. (For example, I wanted to learn Ukrainian, but the system picks English speakers from English speaking countries all because I set English as a secondary language.) You can’t find the right people except by swiping cards or looking for locals, so basically all my starting points got wasted on swiping (which costs 20 pts if denied) because I kept on approving people instead of denying (as it felt wrong to outright deny them), and now I have 0 points with no knowledge of if MakeJapaneseFriendsLangmate is worth paying $12 for as messaging requires payment.
It’s funny also that when out of points, you can’t even see your own friends list (the “match” list). In this way, HOW on earth AM I SUPPOSED TO KNOW IF I WANT TO TALK TO THAT PERSON OR NOT?

For all I know, you can find free alternatives on the web… I mean I can try hellotalk, but since I’m Japanese, I thought it’d be easier to find friends with this one.

My third review now. I’ve been using my language exchange website since 2002 and the membership for a year is what Langmate charges for one month. It’s so much worse that Langmate has an idiotic coin system ON TOP of your subscription price. However, the worst part is that anyone can send you a friend request. The other site I use lets me set the age, gender, spoken language, and learned language of people contacting me so I get people I want to talk to. Here, I get a ridiculous number of 20-something scammers who don’t speak the language I’m learning. I report an average of 2 scammers per day. And guess what, they create new profiles and do it again the next day. I’ve had one scammer contact me 5 times with different profile pictures of the same person. The filters are broken since people will show up in cards, but not in a filter that should have included them. Langmate is an absolutely horribly designed, grossly overpriced app. On the plus side, there are a lot of native Japanese speakers.

As someone who used MakeJapaneseFriendsLangmate for roughly a year I can say without a doubt every single match or person I had contact was a scammer. If your asked to talk with someone via another app or if they refuse to communicate within MakeJapaneseFriendsLangmate itself spare yourself the time and effort. Also I went back to the free service and was not allowed to even send messages to anyone anymore despite the fact that I had a surplus of over 3000 coins, on top of that I logged out to reinstall MakeJapaneseFriendsLangmate but now I am unable to even log back into my account. Instead it prompts me to make a new account, so all in all terrible service zero support and absolutely horrendous business model as someone who was hopping to meet and practice more Japanese with real people after my trip in 2019 I can say I am extremely disappointed in the time and money I wasted using MakeJapaneseFriendsLangmate.

Just two days after I signed up and started matching with people, my account got inexplicably suspended saying there was suspicious activity on my app. Weird but whatever. So I message the company to explain my problem and I still haven’t heard back. So that’s two stars off for the lack of customer service. I took off another star because I was getting connected with a bunch of user profiles that did not at all match what I was looking for in language learning. I even got connected with a profile that had photos of a scammer I had come across before - bizarre. And finally I took off another star because I didn’t even get around to speaking with other users before my account was suspended for no reason. All in all, I’m not impressed with the experience so far.

I really, really used to like MakeJapaneseFriendsLangmate!! Since joining I've made plenty of new friends and I enjoying being on it. In the beginning, the only issue was that MakeJapaneseFriendsLangmate takes forever to load profile pictures, chats and loading any kind of saved information when navigating through tabs. Whenever I use other apps on my phone I don't have to wait at all for anything to load and my internet is really fast. Now, ever since Langmate changed from an app of ads and coins system to an app of payment membership it has become useless for me. I live in America and there's a 13 or 14 hour difference with Japan throughout the year so it was never easy to stay in touch with friends due to the time difference. I would have liked to stay on MakeJapaneseFriendsLangmate with the ads and coins only feature option, but I won't be paying for MakeJapaneseFriendsLangmate because it makes very little sense due to time difference between America and Japan. Thank you Langmate. It was great while it lasted!!

Should find another way of charging us. There must be another way... it isn’t really fun when a chatting app charges you to chat. The connection isn’t that good either, the search tab was empty during my whole experience. The match tab was ok though, just kind of annoying how you are charged to swipe people too...
They indeed give you free “tokens”, 150 after downloading MakeJapaneseFriendsLangmate , 150 for rating 5 stars, and 40 a day for watching adds, but if you take into consideration that swiping people costs, uncovering the blurred profiles costs, sending messages costs, and direct messaging someone you wish to contact without “matching” first costs too, you are gonna deplete your tokens before you can even find any match. Plus people rarely send messages in the free global chats so MakeJapaneseFriendsLangmate becomes pretty pointless.
If you work on the idea I’m sure it will be great but as of now I’m pretty disappointed. Good luck!

I was liking MakeJapaneseFriendsLangmate , the people I met were awesome. And I was having a fun time trying to get to know them. But then I get a message saying I need to pay money and a subscription to continue messaging! Isn’t the whole point of MakeJapaneseFriendsLangmate to meet people and become friends or relationships? How can you do that when they stop you 10 messages into the conversation? I know they need to make money, but I think they need to find some other features to charge on. Because they’re ruining the entire social aspect for people who just want to get to know people. If you look at other dating or social apps, the good ones only charge for viewing certain things and other fun features, not the main basis for MakeJapaneseFriendsLangmate .

I have been on this site for like a month now looking for a friend to do some conlangs together and maybe learn a new language which is the purpose of MakeJapaneseFriendsLangmate being here. It is really hard to find a match knowing that a lot of people want other things. At the most I get friend requests from a lot of people, but MakeJapaneseFriendsLangmate tells you to pay insane amount of money to become a premium member in order to accept friendships. Even then most of these friendships are anyone I barely relate to. I wish MakeJapaneseFriendsLangmate can have better algorithm and empathy for it’s users. MakeJapaneseFriendsLangmate sure looks like it needs some better use of maintenance before I can use it again!

Designed so that you’re confused enough to waste the first amount of coins on those you have no interest in and even to skip which feels toxic. Wouldn’t be surprised if the staff will have many unfortunate “accidents” in the future based on what type of things they may be. Avoid if you want a good experience, the algorithm is designed to fit your first idea of it for a bit though disappointingly in that way then eventually use individual people as algorith slaves to pass off the unwanted until there’s a match but ultimately it is inefficient. The premise is why is survived, the desperation of those with some amount of money is why it won’t die yet. Would be better to look for a proper language change group online. <<<<<<<<<

I want to say that I was able to make some good friends here but there was a lot more scammers and people here looking for relationships than to chat and learn language. I found it quite strange when the goal is to make friends and learn languages with each other. The amount of frustration with scammers here trying to have me use other apps is frustration and lastly I really dislike how the rating system works. It makes you rate after a few exchanges but if you select “not now” you don’t get to rate the user anymore. I like the concept but the execution and safety is poor.

I found MakeJapaneseFriendsLangmate advertising on Facebook. I’ve never tried out an app where you can meet strangers but the thought of talking to someone different is pretty intriguing. Finding someone that has the same interests as you is pretty exciting! MakeJapaneseFriendsLangmate is easy to use. Just swipe to the left if you dislike the person you’re seeing, swipe to the right if you think you’ll click with them. At first your match history will be blank until someone swipes that they like you too. It took me almost the whole night to get someone to talk to me but as soon as I found someone, it was so much fun! I have two new Japanese friends from MakeJapaneseFriendsLangmate that understand although we cannot speak each other’s languages fluently, we can learn and still have fun. Now I’m looking forward to speaking with my two friends for as long as they’ll have me!

This is a really great app and all, but the fact that this is a place to learn languages does not change the mindsets of the creeps out there. I’ve met some really cool people and all, but most were total pervs. I just want you to warn you that if you try out MakeJapaneseFriendsLangmate, please tread with caution. Even if you’re lonely or whatever and just looking for international friends, please don’t give the creeps—under any circumstances—the gratification of sending your picture to them, or whatever personal things they ask. You are under no under obligation to give them the satisfaction. Even if they seem genuine and it seems harmless, you don’t know what they’ll do with your pictures or whatever else they ask for.

Even though MakeJapaneseFriendsLangmate is advertised as a fun way to find friends with similar interests and whatnot, at the end of the day it’s just like any other social media out there. I really can’t stress that enough. Thankfully nothing has happened to me, but I’m putting this out there in hopes that nothing happens to y’all either.

Like you can choose who to text and if they like you back you can chat if they don’t you can’t plus you can get I guess 60 free cards a day maybe I’m not sure but you will get cards Daily plus you have to buy cards if all your cards ran out and the cards are the people who you like or you don’t and you can find people from Japan if that what you are interested in but you can find other people as well not only Japanese people overall it’s a good app

Honestly I love MakeJapaneseFriendsLangmate the people I talk to help me get a better prospective on Japan and are really friendly I can have hour long conversations and never really get bored and it’s not like a pay to talk to people unless you want but I would definitely recommend MakeJapaneseFriendsLangmate for anyone who is interested into talking to anyone about your culture or someone’s else’s thank you😁

MakeJapaneseFriendsLangmate is actually pretty sweet. Basically the language tinder app lol lots of nice people willing to learn and teach or just be friends. The only issue is the “coin” system. Obviously since it’s a free app they have to use some system to make money but it costs coins to do everything from searching new people and checking their profiles or each message you send someone costs coins or if someone sees your profile to uncover their face it cost coins. There are free ways to earn coins by watching 5 ads you get 40 coins total for the day but that’s about it. The coin system is a hassle and makes it hard to chat because you don’t know if the other person has enough to continue chatting or not unless they say so. Other than that pretty useful app it’s always fun meeting new people and exploring cultures.

This review is basically for the 150 coins needed to chat and match with people.

Like all the other reviews before me, it’s a great concept but lacks... how do I say it... thought regarding the users. Adding photos is a bit of a mess since it updates your profile picture to the last photo you uploaded. The “uncover” feature (I use this term loosely) is - I actually don’t know how to describe it. I don’t even know why it’s there. The economy system is also a MAJOR point of annoyance.

MakeJapaneseFriendsLangmate is my favorite for meeting Japanese people. I get way more matches than on any other meeting/dating app. It’s easy to get enough coins through daily logins and watching videos to not have to pay anything to use this. I find myself talking and practicing my Japanese with new people every day. From there you can just get their line or whatsapp number and continue from there. I already have 5 friends that I am planning to meet when I study abroad in Japan. I highly recommend MakeJapaneseFriendsLangmate.

After hours of searching through Apps i continuously came up empty handed, always not allowing men to message or not having any english at all, apps full of bots only, forcing you to pay, or any other manner of stupid rule, but MakeJapaneseFriendsLangmate not only doesn't do any of that but it allows you to watch ads to earn more swipes, and it allows you to message people as soon as you match. There could be more detailed parameters when choosing who you’re looking for, but other than that MakeJapaneseFriendsLangmate is pretty much flawless.

I’ve been through a few language/friend apps that were hard to use because I would continuously be flooded by so many messages it was impossible to respond. This just lets you curate however many or few friendships you want with people who also want to talk to you.

So what it lacks in extra features (like video chat options or posting) it makes up for in ease of experience. Thanks Langmate!
