I have the say that I’m impressed that renshuu is made by just two people. The amount of useful content renshuu features is amazing just for the free version alone, I’ll definitely consider getting the pro version to support. I downloaded renshuu yesterday and I already think it’s great. I have the Genki 3rd edition set and it’s awesome how renshuu has the corresponding lessons for it. I mainly use Duolingo to study Japanese but I’m glad I found renshuu as another resource. Also to be quite frank, I find renshuu has more variability than Duolingo in some ways. For example, renshuu teaches the actual Kanji for some words rather than Duolingo which just leaves them in the Hira/Kana form. For example they don’t actually teach us the Kanji for ひどい or におい. Finding out the kanji for those words I already know —on say Twitter— does frustrate me a little sometimes. Anyways, I definitely plan to use renshuu to supplement me on my Japanese studies. renshuu definitely needs more attention. どうもありがとう Michael

Especially for memorizing hiragana and katakana. I can actually sound words out now and have memorized a lot more than with other apps. Good on its own but I use it to supplement a workbook and it has really helped me. Plus there are games, worksheets, vocabulary words, comics, collectibles, and so much more I haven’t even gotten to yet. Really enjoying it so far.

Recently, started using this app daily to give an extra tool in my box of learning apps. Self Study isn’t easy and it’s always good to find an app that gives you the push to work a bit harder.

this app has been really helpful in my learning of japanese 10/10 would recommend! The games have also really helped me retain new vocab and the dictonary is also very helpful when trying to read unknown phrases\(•w•)/!

I just got renshuu since I wanted to write some kanji for practice since I’m at n5ish and have not practiced stroke order but from what I have seen so far this app is amazing if I find anything I might edit this but I did a few lessons and it is amazing so far.

renshuu is perfect for starting japanese, learning vocabulary, or even learning kanji. renshuu is free to use with some areas where the Pro is needed. renshuu has review, games, and even a section where you can learn japanese grammar!? I would highly recommend renshuu for everyone!

Even though it may not be as famous as duolingo, or have the latest technology in renshuu , renshuu can definitely teach you a word or two. Duolingo may have a bigger audience, but it doesn’t have as much learning power as renshuu does. Big props to whoever made renshuu👏👏

Im ngl this is a really good app to use for studying Japanese. Ive been using it for maybe like 4 days and i have gotten better with kanji and vocabulary. You get a lot of stuff for free and they at some point gave me a free trial of the this app premium or whatever. I recommend getting renshuu and combining it with other self study methods to absorb more info😌

- Just to note, I was a beta tester for renshuu through TestFlight before it’s public release -

this app is a great option for anyone even remotely interested in really tackling Japanese. It has options to study grammar, vocabulary, specific kanji, and sentences as well. You are tested in multiple ways (I believe the extra options are a pro subscription thing) such as by flash cards, sentences, or even listening.

There is also a Studypad where you can add any grammar or vocab you want to study that isn’t necessarily included in your main schedules, and then study with that at any time. It’s really nice to use this as if I come across an N2/1 or even non-JLPT word in manga or anime, it’s easy to add to my list and study later on!

Moving on, there are various games, like Shiritori or Kanji Cross, that are really fun to toy around with and do help you to remember words.

Finally, I’d like to compliment the team behind this app. As I mentioned, I was a beta tester and at one point in time I had submitted some feedback with a recommendation. Not even a couple hours later, I received a detailed response from Michael regarding what I had to say. I can really respect a developer or development team that provides such a user-friendly experience!

Overall, renshuu is a great adaptation on the already great website, and if you want to really help your Japanese studies, you should definitely check it out!

I’ve been learning Japanese for 3 years and I think renshuu is useful for beginners and intermediate people as well. Interface is simple and has no bugs so would recommend for anyone who tries to learn this beautiful language, but keep in mind that you gotta use other resources too! Only one app wont get you anywhere, immerse yourself more! では頑張りましょう！

I never really right reviews, it’s not my thing because I just don’t do it
However…
renshuu really changed that for me. renshuu is so fun, so cute, and just really interactive. I love doing the tests and quizzes.
When I saw renshuu was ran by two people, I was amazing. You guys must be so hard working and are very careful with how you made renshuu cause it’s so brilliant.
I’ve only gotten to the hiragana and katakana part so far, but I can’t wait to check out the other lessons.
This is such a really cool way to learn new words, phrases, and though I cannot donate I will give you a review as my gratitude cause I really have had a great time here.

this app’s words and kanji learning systems are great, but it steals the show with grammar, and their community is perfection. The fact that the developer is interactive with this app users and is always working to perfect renshuu makes the entire experience better overall.

I really recommend this app and the community for anyone learning Japanese!

I started using renshuu recently, And my experience had been nothing but positive!! Ive been able to make good progress quickly using it. The games as well are very good for reinforcement. I highly reccomend quick draw for learning how to write the characters (in just 3 rounds of it, i was able to learn あいうえお !)
The community feels very welcoming as well. Highly highly recommend renshuu.

I was always intimidated by how complex Japanese seemed, especially going from a latin alphabet to one consisting of strokes but renshuu is wonderfully crafted to provide guidance and grow as you learn. You can go at your own pace and challenge yourself as you wish, stocked with plenty of practice games; I was especially surprised to see events! I use this app along with a volume of Genki that my friend gave me and I can say that this has been the best experience I’ve had learning a language - and to think that it is all managed by two people is so shocking and amazing, thank you!

I have been using this app for about a week now and I have been pleased with it ever since. I have mostly been using it for vocab and its a lot better than most things I have tried before (wanikani, anki) not only is it effective for learning its also fun with loads of games and things to unlock. Another thing thats great is the owner is extremely friendly and messages back extremely fast. I would recommend this app over a lot of apps and I haven't even really dove into the site other than vocab but it has plenty of other features like grammar and kanji

My problem with learning Japanese was always balancing the enjoyment of it with the need to study flashcards and the like. I get burned out from doing nothing but flashcards but I couldn't find a more applicable solution. Thats where this app comes in. It has a game called shiritori. It is a game about quickly thinking up words starting with a certain kana/kanji. The online servers for beginners aren't to fast so it gives you time to think and it shows every word in the chain. I would regularly take words I though would be practical like student and throw them into anki. It’s a great paring and a phenomenal way to freshen up studying.

renshuu is amazing!! I use it all day until I feel like I can’t learn anymore, and hop back on first thing when I wake up! For the first, time a Japanese learning app where I’m actually learning something, a lot actually! I only have one complaint about renshuu , and it’s definitely a technical issue, so no negativity- every time I do an activity that requires me to write on the screen, drag and drop words, and sometimes just randomly, renshuu stops working, and there’s no response when I’m clicking on the screen :( I try and avoid those activities but sometimes I forget and I’m in the middle of a quiz and I have to exit out of renshuu and start over

I find literally no faults with renshuu it makes learning Japanese easy accessible fun and engaging. It explains things simply and concisely, and allows you to practice what you learn in a way that feels like a relaxing game. It encourages you to learn at your own pace with every resource you need at your fingertips. At this point I probably sound sponsored lol. It’s literally just that good I’m so impressed with this. I’ve been using Duolingo for about a month and I’ve only just discovered renshuu but I can see already that this will be a useful tool in speeding up my learning. I’m very excited! Props and mad respect to the creators of renshuu i have nothing but appreciation for you!!! ありがと!!!

I love this because of a few simple things. In my opinion, learning languages should be easy and accessible, after all, the point of learning a language is to enjoy the culture and being able to increase the amount of people you can engage with! renshuu is effective, helpful, and free which covers every base. It is also much nicer and cozier than many other apps that cost a significant amount of money. Couldn’t recommend it enough, for all ages.

I do wish there were more worksheets, especially for understanding and practice sentence structure and grammar, but as a fairly new app, and even if it wasn’t, this is a fantastic Japanese study tool.

Everyday I take a little time to practice my Japanese on this app, and I have been nothing but completely satisfied with its entirety. You can customize your learning schedule to your own pace to learn the most efficiently to you. When learning, there is pictures and examples of the symbol being used so that if you are a visual learner you can learn effectively. The layout is easy to understand for anyone with a little bit of exploring. There is games to practice your Japanese along with a gacha system for when you complete a lesson with a high score! Everything about this app is amazing and I am completely satisfied! My only bit of criticism is that I wish there was an option to enlarge the entirety of renshuu layout as it does not work as well on a large-screened iPad. Other than that, I love it very much! Thank you this app!
