Works like it should and better

I have a new automation system for my room using different smart switches, apps, and now lights. Out of all the systems I am using, this one performs as expected, and for the price, quite well. The lights follow their scheduling on time (this can be an issue for some systems), the response is very fast to dim or turn off and on, and the ability to use WiZApp in the lock screen through shortcuts is a massive advantage (HomeKit bulbs are super expensive). Many of the problems that are being stated can be remedied by taking time to work with WiZApp . If you want to do something custom, you just have to put more effort into it, like setting up lots and lots of sequencing in the scheduling (there is almost no limit and it is always on time).

Overall: Very solid for the money. I am using the warm LED and not the colored, so my review is a bit limited. Hardware is HQ.

Tips: make sure to use a dedicated 2.4 WiFi connection for solid performance (use a guest account that separates smart devices from your normal ones) Doing this yields almost zero lag.

Best option for vintage style bulb

I have a 12 light fixture that is not attached to a switch so smart bulbs are my only option. While the Vue bulbs are more sophisticated these Wiz vintage bulbs are hands down the best - and only - option at a ridiculously low cost (less than half the price of Vue bulbs). Philips did announce yesterday (oct 25) that they are now offering vintage style Vue bulbs but they are only Amber. These wiz bulbs give you the option of soft white or amber.

WiZApp offers a long press for on and off which shuts off all 12 of my bulbs at once. And I created scenes to lower or raise the brightness of all the bulbs at once.

Set up takes a little bit of time for each bulb, I set them up on a switched lamp, then I installed them in the chandelier.

Decent, but please fix power on for all bulbs after outage

WiZApp works fine for the 4 bulbs I have installed. I still haven’t been able to easily add a couple more bulbs and I can’t spend 45 minutes troubleshooting each time, only to still not have bulb found. Also, please fix the bug that makes all bulbs come in after power is restored from a power outage. I thought this was supposedly done in a previous update recently. My neighborhood happened to have a short power outage last night and in the middle of the night, all lights are on in my house. Not fun when people are sleeping. Overall, WiZApp is decent and the bulbs are great, when not glitchy.

Missing option

Light bulb (device) specific in "Schedule" setting

I really like the Wiz app. I haven’t had any problems setting up or using what’s available in WiZApp .

The option to create schedules is very useful, but has one major drawback: there is no option to select a specific light in a room that has multiple lights. I have 5 Philips Hue light bulbs in my Living Room. When setting a schedule they are either all on or all off. It would be nice to have the option to choose which light(s) you want to be on or off by selecting them in WiZApp when creating a schedule. If possible, please let your developers know to see if they could implement this option into WiZApp . Thanks.

Lights flicker when off

The lights work pretty great with Alexa if you can set them up right. WiZApp is decent but could have a much better layout and more customization.

I also have hue lights and the colors from them are much brighter and more saturated, especially purple/pink colors. Also, anytime you use a wall switch to turn on a light, it flashes red before turning to your set color. The one thing that kills these lights for me is when you turn the lights off in WiZApp they flicker very faintly. If you have a very dark room it’s very annoying.

I hope WiZApp can continue to get better

Good but could improve

For the price of these bulbs and the colors, you cannot go wrong. My only suggestion for feedback is that when working with Siri Shortcuts that you allow each shortcut to be chosen to be for the whole home or for a certain room if preferred.

Update: I don’t think the dev understands my original review. Siri Shortcuts only adds the Shortcuts for the whole home, not room by room though I have 2 rooms in my home for the Wiz app. So when I select to use the Shortcuts on my home screen, all rooms turn off because the Shortcuts only register the home and not rooms.

Good, but could be great.

I’m just getting started with these. I updated from a cheap bulb out of China. These bulbs are far superior in their consistency or color reproduction.
I’m not impressed with colors with less than 100% saturation. Pick a light blue for instance and the color is pretty much white. It’s hard to get a good color that is not 100% saturated.
Also, the dynamic color settings are neat but I don’t know what some of them do and you should be able to customize them. I want my lights to fade between red, white and blue for patriotic holidays, or orange, purple and green for Halloween. That is something the cheap bulbs had that I’m missing.

Lights and App Don’t Work

Spent hours trying to setup one simple Philips Bluetooth WiFi WizConnected lightbulb. When “chatting” with customer service they literally took 15+ minutes between replies. I’d reply to the message and then I’d have to just sit and wait for 15+ minutes for them to reply. After a few hours I asked them to escalate my service ticket to a higher level such as management. They finally replied that they have bugs causing problems on their app and they are in the process of designing a new app which is supposedly going to be released today. Absolutely outrageous. WizConnected failed to address my request to be compensated for hours of wasted time and the money I wasted on their product.

It’s... ok

Wish there were a few more features and hope they’re coming soon if they’re in the next update. First thing that’s missing is allowing schedules that revolve around sunset/sunrise based on location. Next is adjusting the settings for “wake” as it doesn’t seem too work at all. So far all that’s done is turn on the light to 1/4 Brightness which is too bright imo. It should start at its lowest and gradually increase to a set maximum and color temperature. It gets the basics of scheduling down but this is almost more of a glorified timer at this point.

Software needs work

This lighting system is great because it does not need a hub, and it is generally cheap, but this will reflect in the average color saturation. As well as that there is this weird bug where sometimes when I change the color in WiZApp it doesn’t reflect in the light and I have to refresh WiZApp and set it again. This happens very frequently and it would be great if it was fixed. I have seen other reviews that have said the same thing as well

Minor gripes

Where is the feature to turn on lights at sunset and turn off at sunrise. Was looking for that when setting up a schedule but no where to be found. Only able to set specific times. Also I’m unclear if these bulbs will be able to work with Phillips hue play, to watch movies with some nice lighting that changes with the movies or show. Bulbs are priced well.. but back to software. We need more features, more control but my main issues are sun up and sun down schedules and will it work with movies or shows?

Good but some improvements needed

I found WiZApp easy to use, and setup was a breeze once I followed the instructions to the letter. My only ‘complaint’ is that the scheduling does not provide a Sunrise/Sunset setting so you do not have to constantly update your settings, and improve home security. WeMo and other WiFi control apps allow you to set an on/off time at sunrise/sunset or x-mins before or after sunrise/sunset. It is more natural for lights to come on when it’s dark and off when light.

So far I loved it

It's great i love being able to tell Siri to adujt my lights especially since the two light switchs in my bedroom are located inconveniently. Unfortunately ever since I've updated to iOS 13 its been giving me issues using Siri to adjust the light I'm hoping uninstalling and reinstalling will fix it they might need to update since iOS 13 came out but the only issue I've had is with Siri so far stupid software updates are so annoying always causing issues.

Just bought it

Since I just bought it, I will come back and give a review on this and hopefully I don’t have as much problems as some other people’s reviews I’ve read so far.

Edit: I didn’t know I NEEDED WiFi to connect it to, it thought it was Bluetooth and using WiFi was an option, I think they should be available to use with just Bluetooth. Mine takes like one or two seconds after I hit the switch to turn on, i don’t know if that’s how it’s supposed to be, but I don’t really like it. This is why I give it a one star now, maybe in the future I can review again once I get WiFi and try it how it’s supposed to be.

Absolutely love this App

WiZApp is beautiful and so easy to use. I set up my bulbs in minutes and had schedules and scenes set in no time.

My only disappointment is that I cannot find any confirmed compatible e12/b11 bulbs for my chandelier.

The only feature that I think is missing, is the ability to assign room access to users. For instance a child can control the lights in his room only, but not other rooms in the house.
