The website and the application are a failure

I tried to message the website but it has an error message that prevents sending a message. So I am left to leave a poor review. Don’t use this application or service until they fix both their website and the application. You can’t control your notifications and you get all their notifications regardless of what you select. It’s not cool to offer these features but not have them working. I don’t want to receive phone calls but every week I deselect all but push notifications. Every week I receive a phone call at 7:00am Wednesday. For those of us that want phone calls to be from actual people and no calls as reminders/recorded calls. Why have the application if you can get annoying phone calls. I’m tempted to leave the service all together and message the City Manger and Mayor to find another service.

How do I manage the notifications for the service? I don’t want phone calls. I only want push notifications and texts. I have tried to unsubscribe from phone calls but the system fails and I keep getting calls and no texts. I will be happy to use RecycleCoach and recommend it if I could actually use the tools and the tools actually work. It’s hard to rate RecycleCoach positively with basic failures like this.

Please fix your notifications and contact us links.

Not ready for prime-time

Tried to “report a problem” through RecycleCoach ’s interface but it won’t accept the form.
One problem is that there is conflicting information on which plastics are and aren’t recyclable. The lookup tool says only types 1&2, but the drop down on what is recyclable says types 1-7 are recyclable. Big difference! Most of the plastic I discard of is type 5. Is this recyclable or not? Am I contaminating the batches?
A second problem is with RecycleCoach itself. On most of the interfaces, on my iPhone, I am unable to scroll to the bottom of the screen to get to the “submit” button. I’ve found workarounds, but it doesn’t work out of the box. Also, once you’re in the lookup tool, there’s no way to get back to the main page. You must close RecycleCoach and reopen it.
Two stars earned for effort. Three stars lost for lack of coherent information and clunky design.

Great, at least in Tucson, AZ

This is app is your one-stop shop for everything solid waste in your community. Admittedly, I live in Tucson, so I’ve only tested it there, but it works quite well. In fact, a Tucson city pamphlet was how I found about it. I can see the entire garbage collection schedule on a monthly calendar. I can also find out what to do with every type of trash. It’s never been this convenient to recycle properly. I don’t know of any other apps like it.

Thankful

I’ve been using RecycleCoach for a few years now and every time I use it, I find the answer that I need. I was wondering about the trash pick up for today and was wondering if employees were working due to the weather and this site had the answer in the front page. I’ve used it to check on the brush pick ups and several other info. Thank you for RecycleCoach!!!

No more guessing

Life is busy and with all the things I’m responsible to remember sometimes I can’t recall when recycles/yard waste were last picked up. RecycleCoach doesn’t waste your time with ads and other nonsense. It’s quick to tell you what week you’re in. I wish all apps were straight to the point like this one. No more problems keeping the garbage/recycle/yard waste schedule straight. Recycle Coach is a free app. You’d be silly not to try it.

Actually Helpful

My city has a text program but it doesn’t tell me about compost until it’s too late. This gives me notifications ahead of time. More than that, though, I really enjoy the recycling education. I had no idea how much I was doing wrong and it’s reassuring that I’m getting much more right. It’s also a handy reference when I can’t remember a specific rule.

Just downloaded but laughing at the petty reviews

I’ve never seen so much crying about an app not reminding someone about a recycling pickup date or not being able to find their street. Big freaking deal. Commit it to memory or put it as a reminder in your phone. Or write it down. People are obnoxious anymore. How hard is it to remember when your recycling is picked up????

Can’t win with the masses. Everyone’s a lame critic. Boohoo.

Get it

I like RecycleCoach because I’m very forgetful and it sends notifications to tell me what is being picked up in the morning. I just moved to the area and my last township recycled everything all together so I was nervous when I found out that cardboard and plastic had to be separated. But RecycleCoach makes it easy to look up and keep the days straight.

It does what it does

It’s a fairly simple app. You select the town and address and it’ll remind you to take out the garbage or recycling. It doesn’t sound like much until holidays interrupt normal
Collection schedules. Nothing worse than having an overflowing garbage bin and finding out garbage pickup was yesterday due to holiday changes.

App can also track when to put out leaf bags, grass bags, Christmas tree collection, hazardous waste special pick up days, and other non regular garbage/recycling pickups. At “free”, it’s certainly worth the effort to download.

Just got a reminder that due to Thanksgiving, recycling is Wednesday this week and not Friday. Plus, there is no Thursday trash collection which means if I miss Monday’s collection, I’m going to have an overflowing trash bin for an entire week. Better take out that trash.

This is Excellent

I heard about this launching in my area and downloaded it because I was curious and it was way better than I expected. It tells me what I can and can’t recycle if I am unsure and it reminds me to take my garbage and recycling out the night before it is picked up. It knew just from putting in my address. I was surprised to find RecycleCoach so useful.

Failed to do its job

I get this is an outdated app, but the fact that you can have reminders for your town’s pick-up days are great... except when RecycleCoach doesn’t send you reminders. I have it set up so I get reminded 12 hours before the recycling date, and yet I received no such reminder. I probably shouldn’t have trusted RecycleCoach as much as I did because I ended up missing my pickup day, but I mean how hard is it to send a simple reminder?? Also yes people in fact have phones larger than the iPhone 4, so that annoying black bar and stretched resolution is NOT going for RecycleCoach .

RecycleCoach skips current week

I keep having to go in and re-enter my address, because RecycleCoach periodically skips the current week. For example, today is Tuesday, February 18, 2020. My regularly scheduled pick up would be Wednesday, but I wanted to check if there is an adjustment this week, due to President’s Day, and my schedule showed that my next pickup is March 4, 2 weeks from tomorrow. This is the 3rd or 4th time that I’ve had to reset my address. I had to go to the City of Lansing website to verify that there is no change for this holiday. Basically, all RecycleCoach does is confuse things.

Great with a tiny flaw

We“ve been making good use of the this app, it is very convenient to have a reminder the day before waste is going to be picked up. The only downside we have noticed is that the yard waste reminder should be set to the day before the one week of putting out yard waste begins, this would remind you on the night it matters, the night before collecting starts makes it impossible to put all of it at the curb if it’s “the season “.

So helpful and easy to use

I have lived all over the country, and have never had a better experience dealing with trash and recycling pickup. There are a lot of categories to keep track of and RecycleCoach makes that totally painless. Lake Worth is such a great place to live, and thoughtful things like this from our local government make it that much greater.

What goes where? Love it!

Thank you so much for this! When it comes to recycling I always try to do the right thing, but it’s not always easy. I’ve struggled many times wondering if something should be recycled or not. But no more! I absolutely love that I can look up an item and find out whether to put it in recycling or trash. I never thought I’d get excited over a recycling app, but…YAY!!!

By

Great app

Too bad many folks don’t pay attention! I see many people putting items in their bucket that don’t belong and also don’t break their cardboard down. They are either too lazy, not informed, or just don’t care. These citizens need to be responsible. An education campaign may be necessary. Also the county should pass laws and enforce fines for violations. Maybe a recycling enforcement officer is needed!

By

So far so good

I never even knew there was an app. Well, so far so good. If there’s a problem you receive a reply pretty quickly too. I’m not responsible for putting trash out in my building but I often save recyclables and some garbage til they need to go out so there’s not a lot for the raccoons to go through. RecycleCoach is great!

Love RecycleCoach

It’s great being able to see when my recycle day is - it seems I should be able to remember if it was last week or not but guess my 69 year old brain has too much in it to keep track. Also good to get updates and reminders of what is acceptable cap on or off etc

By

Good

There is a lot of good information on RecycleCoach especially on recycling. Tucson has changed to every other week for recycling pick up, but RecycleCoach has yet to show that. Will be five stars when the schedule is actually the schedule (the correct schedule) for each neighborhood. Thanks for all the good info! Please fix the incorrect scheduling info.

By

Easy to use!!

It gives you a lot of info on what you should and should not throw for certain days, gives you centers near your town that you can throw difficult items, external links to find out more, and it’s all on your phone! So you don’t have to search for your town’s calendar and search for the date!

By

So simple, why not use it?!

We all have so many things to remember to do...why not let RecycleCoach take over remembering trash day and what you can put to the curb? I’ve been using it for about a year and highly recommend it. Our recycling is every two weeks, so it’s easy to forget sometimes.

By

Very impressed

One of my favourite things about RecycleCoach so far is the detail included with each item. I was able to read that the question of waste water while rinsing recyclables (which I had just been pondering yesterday) had been considered and what the current reasoning is. That’s amazing!

Helpful

Helpful to be able to get our schedule online instead of searching the city website or calling & spending hours on the phone waiting for this information

What a letdown from My Waste! Horrible.

So, a message came across the screen indicating that ‘My Waste’ was being discontinued and this new App, ‘this app’ was replacing it. I downloaded the new app entered my town and my address and got a very nice presentation of what was happening in my neighborhood. However, each time I started RecycleCoach I had to name my town and then enter my address. Why is there no way to remember where I live?
This was truly a disappointing replacement for an App that worked absolutely fine.
Whose horrible idea was this?

By

Great Help

Once you install RecycleCoach and identify your address it tells you everything about trash, recycling, brush, and junk you want to get gone. Depend on it. You can get fined if you get out of the system of what to put out when! Trust me on that.

Quiz asked me 2 questions, one of which told me styrofoam clamshells are ok for recycling. Our municipal website in Anchorage, AK says no. It thanked me for participating, says it will ask more questions in a week. No other resources on the app; pretty much this is a useless app, not worth the time it took to set it up.
