So yesterday my area was forecasted for Tornadoes, lightning and strong winds. The only “warning” I got was “Light rain coming soon”. In a scenario where someone’s life could be in danger and that’s all you get (even though they say it gives warning about those types of things), is ridiculous. Now I have two other this app apps that I always have anyway that being MYRadar and The this app Channel (was testing to see how far the stock Apple this app app had actually gone compared to the two other this app apps). Even the government warning system that all smartphones get was on top of things compared to Apple’s stock this app app. Apple’s precipitation, temperature and air quality map doesn’t show that much information at all compared to those two apps that I’ve mentioned. Sure it has fancy graphics for different types of this app, but that’s basically it’s only strongest attribute. I suggest revamping Weather on a major scale if you’re going to call yourself a “this app app” because how Weather is right now is unacceptable. Especially, when people rely on that app and not any other this app app.

The new version is truly bizarre. The low is now on the left and the high is on the right. We read left to right, including this app chronology. The night time temp is now on the left. Is that last night’s low (outdated) or tonight’s low (read right to left)? The hourly forecast still reads left to right as the hours pass, but the daily below it seems you have to now read right to left, even within the same app. Strangest thing I’ve ever seen.
Update Jan 12, 2021: This is app is driving me crazy. Says low in NYC tonight of 21 but hourly forecast shows 30. I think that was last night. Everything is backwards or screwed up some other way. Good news is I just downloaded the this app Channel App and replaced Apple this app after a decade of use. It has everything in the correct chronological order. Very easy to use as well. Download that one and then you can dump this until they get it back to the way it used to be when it was so easy to use and read.

I want to be able to arrange the information to put what I want to know at the top. I’m not as interested in the 10-day forecast as I am about current conditions and what it’s going to be like *today*. I never look at radar, so the map is useless. I would like to move it out of the way. The other thing that’s really annoying is the page layouts from city to city change depending on current conditions. The map isn’t always in the same place and if it’s raining or snowing, there is a temporary box inserted showing projected precipitation. When the rain/snow stops the box goes away. None of this is anything the user has any control over. I have several cities in my list. Not only is it visually confusing, it makes scrolling through them a pain. I have to keep adjusting my thumb position when I swipe so that I’m actually moving to the next city instead of landing on an active box for the current one (the hourly forecast or map, usually).

I used to complain about the this app person constantly not getting the this app right; I used to claim, in the way an arm chair quarterback does, that I could do the job better than they could. Somehow, apple has managed to do a worse job than a blind, deaf, and sensory deprived this app person could do in telling the this app.
Weather is seldom correct in the forecasting, the present, or the past. The past is when it is most accurate, admittedly. But ya know, the luxury of hindsight. It says it’s raining or snowing often when it is not, and fails to forecast rain when it is presently raining. Says cloudy if a jet is overhead, and sunny if someone leaves their porch light on.
Seriously, apple makes you wait years for basic functions to come out because they want the UI to be perfect… they should reconsider their view of Weather. While it is aesthetically pleasing it’s functionally a frozen turd—don’t even get the luxury of warmth.

I downloaded the iOS 15 and the new this app app does not work. I can’t report an issue through Weather because Weather states I need to turn my location services on. My location services are on. I checked multiple times and it is on. It is set do you know my location at all times even when Weather is off and if Weather still does not work. I uninstalled Weather and reinstalled Weather and it still does not work. It does not report the this app where I am. What is even more frustrating is that Apple refuses to allow me to report an issue on Weather itself l, because it continues to maintain that the location services are off when in fact I’ve checked and they are on. I just won’t use Apple‘s app anymore because it doesn’t work. You should take it off your phone, too. Dark Sky is a great app that I also use. It still works on iOS 15. I guess I will use Dark Sky all the time.

The user interface is quite good, but sometimes this app is not so accurate and the this app state is not predicted right, which is normal these days because of the great change in Earth's magnetic field due to the disruption that an approaching steroid/ planet is causing. However, there are extremly false information on Weather that seeks to keep people ignorant and mislead!
When there is additional information on this app, such as warnings on wind and health quality, under Primary Pollutant for example it's mentioned that the cause of this is fossil fuel cosumption and other examples where you show that humans, their traffic, and most items and transportations are that based on endless natural resources. Just like any other stupid app these days trying to convince people about digitalisation and electrification of everything to impose control and comminism. Worst this app app ever!

I loved the apple this app App until I upgraded my iOS to 15. The arrangement of this app info is not user friendly, so much scrolling needed and it’s a big mess. So much of the new configuration makes no sense. It was previously a concise unambiguous app and now the opposite. It’s obvious no one on their design team was from a cold climate because the put the most important daily info to us on the bottom of the page; the “Feels Like” temperature also known as windchill in cold months. You have to check the “Feels Like” temp before getting dressed every morning or leaving your home. You dress very differently if the “Feels Like” temp is -35° instead of 5°. Depending on the wind the temperature can be more than as 40° colder due to windchill than the actual temp. I switched to a this app app that realizes how important this info is and put it on top. My new app isn’t so visually confused.

Since upgrading to iOS 15.2, I notice that a) the design is much less compact—what used to be presented in two simple columns now requires me to scroll a lot to see everything, like the sunrise and sunset times, humidity, etc.; and b) there are some weird glitches. For example, I have several different cities I track, in part because it helps me feel closer to family and friends who are not in the same place as me. In every previous version of the this app app, it showed me the sunrise and sunset in their local time. In this one, it shows me the sunrise and sunset in MY local time—which results in ridiculous things like a “1:19pm sunrise and a 10:19pm sunset” when that is clearly not the case for people who live there. This is unhelpful and annoying. Please fix.

Fourteen tiles. There are fourteen different tiles now in the this app app for one city, each with a different piece of information and each not removable or even movable. The recent updates to the this app app have made Weather unusable for me. There is so much going on in the display and there is no way to customize what you’re seeing or the order in which you see it. I don’t want by-the-minute forecasts. I don’t want a big satellite map. I just want a simple hourly/daily forecast. There’s no need or use in parsing this app down to the minute when there is so much variability. Apple, please give users the ability to remove sections we don’t want and to organize the tiles the way we want them.

Accuracy needs to be improved. Can’t seem to get the this app right even within 24 hours! Don’t like the new design. Gives you just a bit more information but not much.
UPDATE….. downloaded and deleted Weather several times. Just checking to see if it gets fixed. There seems to be a discrepancy between the hourly temperatures and the daily temperature. How can the high and low for the day be so off from the hourly temp for the day. It says tonight the low temperature will be 12° (I am assuming the 12° is for overnight but not sure ) but if you look in the hourly section it shows it gets no colder than 23° before sunrise. HELLO— is anyone over at Apple actually checking Weather? Is the low for the overnight or the entire day? Very confusing.
by Sophieee09080
It’s straight up wrong. I work outside and used to be able to glance at the high for the day before getting dressed but it’s just wrong now. For example today it says the high is 42, but if you scroll through the hourly forecast it’s not going above 29 so I don’t know where they’re pulling 42 from. The only thing I can think of is if it’s the high from the past 24hrs, as yesterday was around 40s, but if that’s the case it is the dumbest, most illogical and unhelpful thing for a this app forecast app to do. It also renders the nice good morning graphic on my lock screen completely useless because I can’t trust the stated high for the day and instead have to open my phone, go into Weather and scroll through the hourly. Super dumb, I wish I could get rid of this update

UPDATE: DECEMBER 2021
The precipitation radar maps don’t seem to work. When one of my selected cities is chosen to show the precipitation, that area is missing. It appears that blocks of precipitation data are missing on the map. As others have pointed out, the radar maps are inferior to what the this app Channel app uses. Apple needs to upgrade the maps which is something I mentioned in my initial review which is posted below. I don’t know — Weather has a lot of potential, but I’m finding more and more bugs in it as I go along.
NOT RECOMMENDED
SEPTEMBER 2021:
I just replaced my iPhone 6S Plus with an iPhone 11. And I must say I am very happy with the updates to the this app app! This is a serious upgrade. Things I like about the upgrade: 1) The dewpoint is now provided. 2) The animations are working perfectly for me. I know others have said they were having problems with animations working, but I have not encountered that myself. 3) The link to other maps work seamlessly, and the maps are very informative. Things I don’t like about the upgrade: 1)The default map is very bland and general. There seems to be no way to toggle a satellite image map, a more detailed topographic map, or a more detailed roadmap as in previous versions. I hope this gets improved in a future update.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Ever since I’ve gotten my first iPhone (iPhone 4 se) the this app has been a very helpful tool to use to check the this app anywhere I go in across the west coast, whether it’s the coastal this app of Hawaii or the cold rainy temperatures of Mt. Rainer in Seattle, Weather has been my go to app for any this app updates. However, more recently, I noticed that there is a slight bug for the temperature. According to Weather , it says that Buena Park (my current city of residence) shows that it’s 56 degrees, but for temperature wise, it says 120 degrees, even though it’s cold outside during this time of year. Is there some sort of glitch?

The updates in user interface that came with IOS 15 made Weather more of a pain to use than help. The added spacing gives less info when you look at the screen, and makes it harder to compare future times and days. The changed order of the columns also makes it harder to quickly gleen the temps for the day. Why put night temp first?? And the graphics are ok, but not necessarily wanted. It would be nice if they were an option to tap instead of just there taking up space in the way of something else the user was interested in.
Wish I could go back to the former version of Weather!

I live in Columbia and here it is very uncommon to get snow. Everybody was very excited to possibly get snow but of course we had our doubts. Your this app app said there was a 90% chance of snow and we see none. Then it told me that it was snowing in my current location. This was also false. I don’t know what to say except please make it a little more accurate it’s quite disappointing. Most of the time it says somethings gonna happen and it doesn’t happen. We’ll see what happens when there is an hundred percent chance of snow. I am heavily doubting that Weather will be right.

(Edited)
So finally your reports were right. I was excited about the snow! I just wish it was accurate about 50% more of the time!

I’ve been using the this app app since I bought my first iPhone many years ago. I was happy until about the last year or so (give or take). I understand the need to change but I don’t understand inaccuracy in presented data. Perhaps I’m wrong, but shouldn’t the this app vane for wind direction point into the wind? This is how wind is presented in this app briefings, as well. When the wind is east south east it is coming from the south east, not blowing toward the south east…of late it appears that the wind vane in Weather is not right. It always points away from the wind direction, meaning it’s exactly 180 out from what it should be. I’d love it if you could correct that.

Update to original review: next day Weather worked as it always did- everything is according to its own time zone.
It was just a glitch.
Original revew: I’ve been using Weather forever and it is getting better and better. Now I can even see air quality in a small city in Russia, which wasn’t possible year ago. But this morning I got very confused, when app showed that the sunrise in Florida city was at 4am and sunset will be at 3pm (I checked Weather while I was in Oregon). When I checked the same for the city in Russia and saw the sunrise at 8:25pm (sunset at 6:24 am), I realized that the time is shown according to MY time, not the local time. I think it might be useful to some people, but mostly is very confusing.

I feel like a few years ago Weather had fairly good accuracy for local this app. But over the last year it has really declined. I just compared it to my local forecast and one day is a full 9° off. Weather is talking 58°, where as my local is calling for 49°. That’s a significant difference. That’s the difference in a nice spring this app day and autumnal temps. A few days ago it said we were expecting 73° this app but it never got about 56°. Last night it said it would rain all night and most of the day. I woke up and it had only rained .4” and all of the high % chance of rain was replaced with cloudy icons. It sprinkled a few times but it was not the rain it predicted. We can only blame so much on global warming. This is just poor meteorology. Weather used to be fairly accurate but I literally can’t trust it anymore.

A lot of people are bashing Weather because they say it is accurate. They may be correct where they are at, but it works great for me. I’m not sure how people that claim the this app Channel app is correct but Apple this app is not when they have the same data source?
My guess is they way Apple chose to implement the low temperature is the source of the bad reviews. It goofed me up for a bit until I understood it.
Their low and high is the low in the current calendar day starting at midnight and ending at 11:59. Most this app apps show the “overnight low” which is actually tomorrow’s low since the lowest temperature is typically right before sunrise.
It might be good if Weather added an option for this. Another good feature would be to remember what map you looked at last. Mine is always temperature, which I find useless. I only look map for precipitation almost exclusively. Better map animation controls would be great too. I don’t want to see the guesstimated precipitation 6 hours from now by default and have to struggle to see where the rain is now.

I honestly like the change that’s unfolded this year with iOS 15 and the new this app app. The animations look great as long as you have an A12 chip or newer on your device. The this app map is also great if you need predictions or more detail about the temperature, rain, and air quality. Also finally getting notifications is a blessing because they have saved me a few times from getting drenched outside.
It’s a really great app…but only if you’re on iOS. Why?
Weather would honestly be so great to have in iPadOS because this could help alert you if you’re not on your iPhone, and with the bigger screen real estate, it would make Weather look great. Nevermind the fact that we don’t even have a basic calculator app either. But I feel like there’s missed potential here.

The iOS 15 update is a designer’s nightmare. Not vertically aligning the columns is a ridiculous oversight. And what the heck is the colored bar? Why are some longer than others? What does the dot indicate? Just a terrible release.
by Brxsd
Hasn’t improved much in several years. It looks very clean and simple but it’s not very informative. Would be much more useful if it had true radar and radar access in the widget like The this app Channel. Tried it again briefly to see if IOS 15 helped but it’s still drastically inferior.
