I’ve used FBReader for years but now they’re trying to force you to upgrade to the paid version. I’m just going to have to get a new reader.

Just bought the full version. Several books don’t sync from my Google Drive and when I tried to manually add them FBReader locked up. Forced FBReader to close and then when I clicked the table of contents to scroll through the book the font was so bad the book was unreadable. I would like a refund!!!!

Hadn’t opened FBReader for a while. Now all of the books I had downloaded and bought are gone! Help!

Please add a text to speech/voiceover feature for FBReader. I paid for the upgrade to help improve FBReader . Would really appreciate that feature. Thank you.

Couple month ago this app starts to crash during sync. I had to sign out from google for reading. Please fix this problem.

I don’t see any option in the settings under “Look and Feel.” I used a default book that came with FBReader . I’m confused.

It provides no label, folders to organize books. As imported books increase, this would be a big problem.

There is a definite lack of cross-platform ebook clients (specifically, Windows-to-iOS) available now. In a perfect world, there would be an iOS version of Calibre, but it’s author has expressed no interest in this. this app has the potential to be this solution but it isn’t there yet. As of now, the functionality of FBReader is limited with, for example, no way to organize books into your own categories. It choked when I tried to open a PDF, citing a compatibility issue that doesn’t exist with the native Books app. Calibre integration is promised in a future update. I love the fact that the premium version isn’t rentalware and I would gladly pay twice the asking price once the operation and feature set is more fully developed.

It would be nice if FBReader supports ebook annotations with Apple Pencil. FBReader has so much potential. The page turning is also quite choppy.

Add scroll mode pls!!!!!!!!!!

This is indeed my fave reading app! But please fix the “share” button in the selected text menu. The sharing dialog doesn’t show up.

Nice reader, but has bug with big footnotes. It shows pop up with just part of footnote. “More” button is shown sometimes, but mostly is missing for the book with lot of long footnotes I’m reading currently.
UPDATE: Fixed in 1.0.15, thanks a lot! Small issue with expanded footnote screen coloring is left. In the dark mode expanded footnote screen has white bottom section with “back” button. I think it should be dark as well.

all text is massive now and seems to not tespond to settings in any way that makes sense - basically broken now

Works better than the apps I have tried but is missing vertical scrolling. Also, definition for two words? Bought the full version. Love it. I wish we could categorize the books ourselves instead of it being automatic. Especially the backgrounds. No equal in FBReader Store right now. Some questions can be answered on their web page.

Once I first met FBReader and checked it out it was really good keep on the good work!

Unlike this wonderful app, Libby, (Apple) Books, and other ebook readers offer only basic customization (e.g., font, day/night mode). This brilliant, feature-rich app is freaking free! (And the premium version, which I adore, does not cost much.) It may not have a shiny look that other apps fool you into believing they’re worth your time; however, it is a well-coded app that everyone who enjoys reading ought to use.

Please, implement vertical page shift:)

Thank you for making FBReader work for ios 9 after all this time but since the last update (30th March 2020) it just stopped working. Please can you fix this?
Edit: You guys listened and fixed it. Thank you very much, it really means a lot.

Installed FBReader , went in the website in my desktop and logged in, loaded up my books - and waited for FBReader to sync and pull them over, and waited, and waited. Both logged into the same account with the same email address. After 12 hours - nothing. Deleted FBReader .

This is not a serious ebook reader.

Can’t add new book from local storage
by IOS Is Bad OS
There is no way to add books from iCloud or local folder. App is useless if we can’t open file in the first place.

Unable to load books to app from my iPhone. Went to FBR website to follow illustrated instructions but in-app options did not match what was shown on the website. Thinking it was a matter of free version vs pro so upgraded but issue was not resolved.

I really really like this reader. If there was a way to mark the book as read on the book shelf, I would love love love this reader. If this option becomes available I hope you’ll let me know so I can give it 5 ⭐️’s.

The page-turn animation is jarring—a sliding animation where one page pushes the next one makes more intuitive sense. Such as what Google and Amazon use. Also it is simply hard to swipe—I need a much longer motion to change pages than with other apps.

The iOS version is not as polished as the android app. I like the way it links to your google drive and syncs between devices. I do note that they are planning on adding the features from one to the other. One thing i miss is the inability to organize my library into folders in google drive but that feature is coming. The biggest complaint I have with the iOS app is the difficulty of swiping to turn the page. The volume controls or tap zones work fine but if you normally swipe, you have to swipe across half the screen instead of a quick flick as in the android version. Fix that issue and I’d give it five stars without reservation.

Admittedly it's been a long wait but it's looks very promising indeed. Let's just wait a little bit as FBReader matures and gains all the features we used to love it for on the other major platform.

This is the only reader I have found that actually takes advantage of all of the screen real estate on the new iPhones, which makes reading much more enjoyable.
I also love the enormous flexibility in setting up text and formatting just the way I like it.

One of the best ePub reader
I am using FBreader SDK (free) version 1.1.4, I am facing 2 major issue while using this SDK verion (1) gotoPage method of TextWidget is not working properly while i am trying to move particular page number. Please help me out if someone know solutions of these. (My Email : prakashprajapati0016@redacted) Thank you
