It’s a good app but I wish they’d include UVA radiation as well.

That radiation can penetrate through clouds and is a significant contributor to early skin aging. Even though there definitely is UVA radiation outside, UVLens says there is zero UV danger.

Weather is a lacking part of UVLens as well. My hometown has a lot of snow in the winter that reflects the UV light. UVLens unfortunately doesn’t take that into account.

It is a cute app. However, the UV level it displays is often in accurate. It’s UV level is generated based on the time of the day, and has nothing to do with the actual UV level.
For example, the sun is pretty strong outside at 4pm, UVLens would tell you the UV is low as 1, meaning while other weather app with credible sources would tell you the UV index is at 5 or 6, meaning high risks of unprotected sun exposure.

I love everything about UVLens, including the “my skin” feature. It’s my favorite. BUT, I would love for the fact to fast forward to a specific time of the day, and then have it tell me how long it would take me to burn in the sun at said time in the my skin tab, and not have to guess myself with some flames or numbers via the index. I hope that makes sense.

Just what I was looking for. I wanted an app that would forecast UV throughout the day and was color-coded for intensity of UV. You can switch between their “flame” symbols and the UV number. Also switches between Fahrenheit and Celsius. Bonus that it uses my hair/eye/skin tone to tell me how quickly I will burn. I love that not only can I tell it that I am using sunscreen but also what spf it is and how water resistant it is. Then i can set a reminder for how soon it needs reapplied. One suggestion for the reminder to reapply - it uses the same reminder tone that I have set for other reminders. Therefore I have ignored the reminders. Please use a unique reminder sound or allow users to set their own reminder sound. Overall, I’m very happy with UVLens.

I had UVLens for maybe a week and it was working fine..until I got a notification from UVLens with a super explicit message - “my p—y is already wet,” which was very strange to say the least. Deleted instantly because..what the hell lol. I wish I could attach a screenshot here to show y’all

I love UVLens so much and their customer service! Really is a blessing in the summer time! They did get hacked and had a notification sent around that was very explicit but this has only ever happened one time, and they were very nice and respectful about explaining to me personally what the situation was. Really an awesome company!

I too received a vulgar sexually explicit push notification, with the same language that other users have reported. I immediately deleted UVLens .

I don’t know if it got hacked or what but I got a really out of place notification. Still love UVLens and highly recommend it just thought the developers should know.
It was just super funny go get a notification that looked like it was from a porn bot on Instagram from my UV app. Gave me a good and much needed laugh.

I enjoy the customization that I can put in my profile so I can receive the recommendations I need. UVLens offers a sunscreen reminder as well as UV index. The UI is simple enough to understand versus other apps which make you pay to know what the UV index is.

I’ve always liked UVLens and found it very useful. The display is beautiful. There is a sunscreen reminder timer. Users can add skin/eye/hair details to UVLens for a more personal prediction of how UV will affect them.

I re-downloaded UVLens after the minor notification fiasco because I got a positive response from the developer immediately.

Hey lads, came from reddit after i saw the lewd notification on a meme sub. Came here and saw you were getting loads of negative reviews because of this technical mishap. This is a great app from what I can see and hate to see this tarnish your app. Alot of work has been put into UVLens, dont get discouraged.

I’ve tried a number of UV index apps and this one is the best. It lets you customize recommendations based on your skin type in a very user friendly way. At any point during the day you can check for how long you can be in the sun without burning. It also has a great widget that lets you see that information at a glance on your phone.

I have only one suggestion: make an app for the Apple Watch!

I would love to have the standalone ability to see how long I have in the sun before I burning…it’s nice to be able to go out without my phone, and I‘d love to have that information on my wrist (especially well exercising/hanging out in the sun without my phone).

I love UVLens! It’s so helpful for knowing the level of sun damage that you’re putting yourself at risk for. Anytime my friends and I go to the beach or pool, I make sure to check UV lens first to see what the risk level is. Obviously spf protection is something we should wear every day, but UV lens makes it easy for me to determine how often and diligently I should be reapplying or if I should avoid the sun altogether. Can’t recommend this enough!

I love UVLens so much! It’s been such a useful tool when trying to keep my wonderfully Irish complexion from burning. They had a brief issue where their third party notification service was hacked and started sending adult messages, but they promptly fixed the issue and responded to my message to them quickly and with many apologies. In this day and age even the best can be subject to hacking. Keep up the great work!

I am very fair skinned but I don’t burn easily and I’m very good about sunscreen so I didn’t expect UVLens to be so impactful on how I take care of my skin & eyes! I could talk about UVLens all day so I’ll just add bullet points here.

1. seeing you can damage your skin in 15mins was an eye opener for me. I wear sunscreen everyday now.
2. I have blue eyes but I never really wear sunglasses. UV lens has taught me how dumb that is. I ALWAYS have sunglasses now.
3. I’d always wear sunscreen if I knew I’d be outside for awhile. But I’m usually distracted having too much fun and lose track of time. So getting the reapplication reminder is a game changer!

I love the user interface on this application! Non sponsored but I tell everyone about UVLens! It’s important to take care of your skin, whether or not you burn, to prevent cancer or other illness & avoid permanent cosmetic damage!!

UPDATE: back to using UVLens. The developers were very responsive to my concerns. I’m giving UVLens a second chance s as I think it’s well-designed and easy to read. Nice work!

PREVIOUSLY: I just received a pornographic notification from UV Lens. Assuming that UVLens has been hacked? Please update UVLens to prevent this. I have enjoyed UVLens so far, but this type of security breach makes UVLens too risky to have on my phone, so am deleting it until I can be assured that it’s secure.

I absolutely love UVLens and have used it daily for two summers. I highly recommend it to anyone interested in tracking the UV index hourly or daily!

I’d like to point out to the developers the key things I love the most so they won’t change them. Please keep these important attributes!

SIDE NOTE: I’d like to add that I have no association with UVLens or app owner. I found UVLens by doing a search for “UV index” a couple years ago and I’m glad I found it!

First off I just want to thank the developers of UVLens a couple weeks ago their push notification systems was compromised and it sent out a very lewd notification. I contacted them instead of automatically leaving a 1 star review. They got back to me shortly and provided a full explanation, they do not deserve the rating they currently have.
This past summer I spent around 12 hours a day outside and UVLens saved my skin on countless occasions, it’s probably the best app for the UV Index out there so if you need it for any kind of long prolonged activity in the sun this is UVLens for you.

I lived in Orlando, FL & worked out doors for half a year this year, and I could not have done it without UV Lens. I did not get sunburnt a single time the entire length of my internship under the hot sun. They told me exactly when to apply sunscreen and it was my life saver!
There was a minor hack in the 3rd party push notification service (nothing that was the developers of UV Lens’ fault) but they were right on top of it and took it very seriously, which was awesome! ((((I honestly thought the whole situation was kinda funny))))
Anyway, it’s an incredible app and I literally can’t live without it anymore. Thanks for being awesome, UV Lens!

UVLens is very functional. It shows you the UV level and how long you can be in the sun before getting burned. It also has a UV forecast. And you can use the widget for a quick check of the UV levels.
The only thing I'm missing is a notification if the UV gets to certain level. I'd like to be warned if it goes beyond 9 or maybe if the UV is higher compared to the previous day.
