BRO: Chat, Friends, and Fun Reviews

I was luckily able to use BRO when it first launch back in early 2016. It was a good concept, ya know not like other gay apps where people just hookup *side-eye* you see, as someone who's in the military always moving, it was hard to focus in on someone that wanted to do similar things like cabrewing, checking out distilleries, vineyards, hiking and traveling ya kno. So I got BRO to try out and well, I definitely met the guy of my dream shortly after. Then to say at least, we started dating after a few dates and that was in March of 2016. Now, well, we are engaged and couldn't be happier. I wish I could give this more stars. Kudos to the concept and I hope more start to use it!

The developers have described BRO as having been created for guys who are "sick of the hookup culture" and want to make genuine friendships without having to deal with individuals looking for "hookups". Unfortunately, this well-meaning app has been completely hijacked by individuals ONLY lookimg for "hookups" who either never bothered reading BRO description or simply didn't care! I've had the thing installed for a year now and never once discovered anyone on it interested in making friends. Not one. Instead, the only responses I ever received were from guys trying to "hook up". Each and every single one of them. Finally, the other night I ran into a guy who turned out to be nearly pretending to be interested in making friends only to admit that he was trying to trick me into a "hookup". That was the last straw. I'm not coming back to this thing (nor any other app claiming to do the same thing) until this nonsense is somehow addressed!

I like the ideas behind BRO for who it is meant to serve but BRO itself is really subpar, especially when compared to other apps that use the basic grid format and messaging services. As a paying member I think I need more userbility.
Sorting profiles takes you back almost 10 years ago when these sorts of apps first appeared. Option is to either sort by distance or recently online. If you sort by distance you are forced to scroll down multiple times in order to see even one person online. this app! What’s up with that? It would be less of an issue if more bros were using BRO but unfortunately they aren’t.
Sorting by Recently Online then could place someone 14 miles away right next to someone 1 mile away. Just for context this weekend is Pride in San Diego thousands and thousands of people are coming to the city to participate and not one this app is less than 4 miles away from the center of Pride, Hillcrest?
It’s just not very user friendly and that may be a reason so many profiles are not active. Some like me are bouncing to apps with better functionality.
Messaging is also meh. Sending pics can shut BRO down or freeze it.
I’m also not a fan of using Facebook whatsoever in order to link up my this app account when I first signed on. That might have changed.

At first I was a little disappointed as I had BRO for 15 hours and my simple face pictures had still not been approved, making it kind of pointless to use BRO . I’m giving it 5 stars still because all I had to do was send a quick email through the contact button and it was resolved rather quickly. Since then, BRO is working good and I’ve been able to use it perfectly.

BRO demands your Facebook login, and if you don’t give that, insists on a phone number that it then tries to send to Facebook. Also reserves the right (in the Terms of Service) to “monetize” your location information. Also, you comstantly have to watch an animation of two spinning cups (while their slow system works in the background?); and message management is a complete disaster (if you swipe a message to expose the delete button, it usually pops right back in a broken wat and you have to do it three times before it stays… but if you start swiping three times out of habit, it sometimes instantly deletes messages with no warning, meaning you can easily lose messages you didn’t want to delete). Overall it’s a buggy privacy nightmare and I’m deleting it.

I have been complaining for months. 7 out of every 10 profiles I visit have a spinning progress indicator when looking at details. If I get notification of a message, I tap into the message and the whole app is locked. I cannot even use the back button. This has plagued BRO .

It’s rare when I can use BRO without the whole UI to get blocked within a minute or two of normal use. I have no problems with any competitors apps.

It’s pretty basic for your developers to fix. Stop blocking the main thread!! Use background queues for long running tasks. Perform asynchronous loading of images. Come on.

BRO has helped me to make new friends that I didn’t even know lived in my area! One of the best features of BRO is that it verifies the identity of its users, making it - well - a whole lot less creepy! The increased amount of clear face pictures and the fact that reported abuse is taken seriously makes BRO a much more enjoyable experience than some of its competitors. I’m happy to be a part of the this app Community!

I downloaded this not really knowing what it was, but once I realized what it was, I loved it. I’ve met so many (nice) people and I’ve had real conversations with them. This isn’t like grindr, just a hook up app (unless you want that, you can get it), and it’s not like bubble, only for a ltr (but you can get that too), I’ve made friends here and it’s amazing. Love it! Definitely worth a download.

I overall enjoy BRO - while it doesn't always have lots of people online, there's a fun daily feature to find matches that feels a lot better than Grindr. Also, their support is very responsive and friendly to issues that come up. I recommend giving it a try!

BRO is ridiculous. One day on BRO and I was banned and blocked because someone said I was too generous LOL. It was more like the shirt that I was wearing in my photo the claim to Joe Biden was a lunatic. BRO is Wade left democratic take your voice away take everything away from you do it their way or the highway so guess what I deleted BRO for good. All they want is your money and took for you to believe in what they believe in and that’s it take your business elsewhere be smart about it don’t let some app tell you how to believe and how to think BRO is racist

I actually like BRO. Have had excellent conversations and met some good people on here. Plus, I don’t get that empty, awful, cynical feeling that I did from Grindr (deleted that garbage years ago). The issue is that it freezes up constantly and they haven’t done anything to fix it. Some profiles don’t load at all and it constantly freezes and you have to close and start BRO over again. I have to do this close to 10-15 times every time I use BRO . In recent weeks, BRO has become completely unusable.

I was quite excited about this when I found it. It's a decent app, but does have crashes often. Also, there's not much activity. Tons and tons of profiles that no one is using. I have a feeling that profiles stay in the list after folks have deleted them. I decided I didn't need to have BRO anymore, chose to delete my account, confirmed it and then a charge appears on my PayPal for a renewal? This is supposed to be a free subscription for 30 days - renewal fee after that. I had it for eight days total. Not cool. Sad, it is a great idea.

Easy, user friendly, free features that allow you to establish a connection to all the Bros out there. I am new so if there are any negative issues about BRO , I am certainly not aware of them. I search, I like, I reach out and connect and I repeat the process while I find my better half.

BRO puts doesn’t push hookups like the other ones. It leaves it open to various forms of interaction. What’s funny is that you’ll find many of the same guys from the hookup apps, which just goes to show you that despite the aloofness exhibited on Grndr and Scruf, most guys are truly looking for more meaning connections.

This is a crap app and I decided to delete my profile after their crass "apocalypse" promo message to users, regarding coronavirus. But regardless the fact is this is pointless - it has a small number of users (few of whom are anywhere close to being a this app type) and limited bio options and photo abilities. In months of use I never had more than a brief convo with someone - versus many lengthy convos and several different meetings when using another major app.

These guys are doing it right. Had a question/issue and the OWNER OF BRO EMAILED ME DIRECTLY! Problem solved. I'm by SF and BRO works great. I think some of the neg reviews might be from areas that are less populated. In all cities that I've visited BRO has worked as it should. Daily bros are limited but you get a lot of guys around you if you expand the search. Good app bros!!

I’ve had BRO for a year and I love it a lot you don’t have to use a subscription to see who likes you or anything at all everyone all there isn’t a fake profile best app for guys to find friends or relationships I’ve met tons of people on there and it’s epic!

I’ve liked it so far. The guys on here seem really laid back and genuinely interested in getting to know you better. It definitely feels different from other apps in a good way. It feels lighthearted and playful and doesn’t have a certain heaviness you feel in other places.

BRO in my opinion is better than Jack’d and Grinder. You should promote and marker it more to get more people using BRO . Also need option to create couple profile. Video chat option would be great. Please add preference such as top, vers top, vers etc. as profile field and filter.

It’s clear the folks at this app are about offering a quality product. The bio prompts ask good questions allowing a better ‘get to know him’ experience. The overall vibe of BRO is friendly and the customer service is super fast. I’d recommend BRO above all others.

App worked great until I paid for a subscription. Since then it’s been glitchy. Clicking on a conversation opens up a chat with a different guy. But the most annoying part is the chats never get marked as read. I have 42 notifications for a chat from 2 days ago. Can’t clear them without deleting the chat. And contacting them isn’t possible. The link in BRO just says “No mail service available.” Save your time and money. Find another app.

It gives multiple options for logging in for the first time, FaceBook, Phone Number, or Apple ID. However, if you try to use any method besides Facebook it gives you a cryptic “error happened” notification and dumps you back to screen to choose your sign-n method. I have reached out to their support team twice about it, first response was that my email was already in use… but i’m not entering my email, i’m entering my phone number. The second email i sent has gone unanswered.

So unless you want to link this to your FaceBook, it’s a completely useless app.

The messaging function is broken for over a week now, no updates. Can’t get rid of the unread notification on messages, so it just piles up saying you have X unread messages. I’d also give a higher review if the mods weren’t discriminatory towards certain body types. You can have a headless body picture and nudity if you’re a jock or young twink. You cannot have one if you’re average or bigger. The grid is filled with tons of headless torsos. Try to upload your pic like them and have it rejected.

They need to perfect their way of communication with BRO. All my notifications are turned on and I’m not getting notified when some of these sends me a message. BRO needs to be fixed or I’m gonna delete it. What’s the purpose if I can’t get notified when I get a message. I am not gonna be opening BRO every day just to look for messages. Come on guys get it together get with the program all the rest of them out there give you badges when you have a message.
