ScanGuru: Pro PDF Scanner App Reviews

I love ScanGuru , i have a few qualms that I wanted to fix: one is that converting image to text takes a long time and two when I grab The documents I have to size it out from the 4 corners rather then have an option in the middle of the corners for the horizontal/vertical sizes. That could be a little faster just to have another vertical/horizontal bar. But otherwise you won’t find a better one on the market for the price, so i guess I’m happy, but not 100% elated yet. I hate paying so much for apps now and at least I have a lifetime subscription so that is nice, so I’m not crying every month like some.

Question to the developer:
I also was wondering if the text that we capture could be enhanced? Such as making books in dim lighting lighter?
I though that was included but I couldn’t figure out how to make that happen? And drag and drop files would be nice too.

Over the short period of time I have used it, I had great outcomes! Sometimes my writing ✍️ gets shaky due to Parkinson’s. Literally it cleans straightens lines with no distortions. What a smooth scanner has had an impact on me.

Convert to text *sounds* useful, but unless you just want a hand written paragraph or something equally as linear converted, ScanGuru is useless. It cannot decipher or format notes in the margin, columns, or simple tables. Your notes will just look like a jumble of text—nothing where it should be.

If you want a GREAT scanning app that is much more sophisticated in its usefulness, AND IS FREE, check out Genius Scan… I’ve been using it for years.

To the developers—your app is stupidly overpriced for the lack of sophistication it offers, figure out the formatting/layout issue before you start charging for ScanGuru—A SUBSCRIPTION no less! This isn’t worth 6.99 even for a one-time cost! If you’re honest with yourselves, you already know that.

I purchased a year subscription and it doesn’t end until July of 2021. Since January of 2021 I have not been able to use ScanGuru at all because it’s saying it wants me to purchase a new subscription. In Apple Subscriptions it very clearly says my purchase doesn’t expire until Jul 11, 2021. Apple can’t issue a refund because I bought it more than 90 days ago and emails to the developer have gone unanswered. ScanGuru is useful when you are able to use it, but I would not recommend anyone purchase a subscription because of this. I should be able to use ScanGuru I paid for or be refunded.

Surprise surprise it’s NOT free. Well, if you count the 7 day trial ok, but then after it’s rather costly. If your not using ScanGuru frequently it’s not worth the price, especially when there are truly free scanner apps available. ScanGuru might do a thing or two other scanners don’t but not worth the cost unless you frequently need to take handwritten notes and convert to a “typed” version. Most people today use the keyboard faster than they can write.

You cannot do anything scan related on ScanGuru without payment. You don’t even get to test it out.! For anything to scan you have to pay $6.99 a week or do a bundle. That in my opinion is ridiculous Adobe scan, scans all things immediately. Of course it has its things that are asked to be purchased but it allows you to do what you downloaded it for and then purchase if needed. Making a purchase should come naturally a downloader shouldn’t have to feel forced to buy something.

App works great but it’s horrible if you have to send a PDF file because each page gets sent as a huge file and if you are sending multiple pages, it has to be compressed. Despite me emailing them couple of times, They have not been able to reply back. For this experience, I don’t recommend this for people who needs to Convert to PDF and email.

I may not be doing something properly but when I scan a document I have no idea where it was stored. I searched my phone and computer looking for what I scanned and can’t find anything.
Got a reply saying to check “scanner” folder in Gallery. Have no idea what you just said. Scanner folder in gallery? I can’t find a scanner folder or gallery. I have an iPhone 8plus. When I open ScanGuru there nothing but the scanner. There is a setting icon but it is no help.
I’ve canceled this and really is too confusing so I’m out of here.

Downloaded ScanGuru it signed me up for some premium version and has been charging me for months! I never knew because when I log in to ScanGuru it tells me I’ve exceeded my limit and tries to make me sign up for the premium version! What am I paying for.? Now I can’t get refunded for these charges for literally nothing. Don’t use ScanGuru, they will steal your money!!

Update to developer: obviously I have cancelled your subscription the point is you have stolen my money and refuse to give it back.

You download a s a free app and then ScanGuru doesn’t even let you scan one document to convert to text without paying. This is ridiculous. Even if the quality is good I would never know because they lure you in with the free app and then you realize you have access to any features.. except converting an image to a pdf… so useful, ha. I could do that on a word doc, what a joke.

I was charged and paid for this item when it did not show me a price to purchase it. If there was a price on this item I would not have buyed it. That’s what I don’t like about apple and the droid phone everything on Samsung is free but apple charges everyone for almost everything.

When I saw this product there was no price tag on it and then I get a payment of almost $8.00 incredible

The free version only allows you to take a picture. I can do that with my camera app. I don’t need a scanner app to take a picture. You can’t convert to a Word or PDF and you can’t sign any documents. I understand that they need to keep some features for the paid version, but at least make signatures an option. This is literally no different than the camera.

This is a great product to use whenever you need to scan something and save to your documents. Totally awesome!

This is a handy little utility to have on your device. It used to be free. The basic trial is free but the extra features arr pricy, priced by the week, month or year. There are plenty of cheaper alternatives than this than can scan multiple pages to PDF. I would buy this for a one time charge but I don’t like leasing software.

I tried to download ScanGuru. It goes directly into you In-App purchase and your Trial period runs. The problem is... Its very difficult to unsubscribe until your trial period runs out and automatically thrust you to an annual subscription. Quality wise, it’s not the best and most versatile I’ve used. Trying other Apps in the market is highly recommended.

I tried this and I was really excited because it seems like this did what I needed.

However ScanGuru has two major issues:
1) if you do an in app purchase it does not record properly and then blocks you from using ScanGuru because you have not paid.
2) there still seems to be in app advertising even if you have paid for ScanGuru . This greatly extends the scanning time. If you are scanning several checks for example this greatly extends the scanning time

Their support has this issue:
1) only way to co tact the developer is their website and the contact
Form is broken :(. Pretty terrible support!

I was surprise that I got charged of $6.99 automatically for 1 week subscription. How should I stop the subscription? Should I just delete ScanGuru ?

Should be more updated to include more particulars like scanning of direct objects like a picture to identify source

Linked should be established to make direct communication to every product working in multimedia devices

Export option is so bad. Exported a 2 page document and emailed it to myself. Took 12 hours before I got the email. Not first time either, but other times it’s like 2 hours, not reliable at all in a pinch.

A reliable and easy to use app for scanning any type of image / document. My only choice for quick access and shareability.

There was no cancel option in the subscription management link!!! There was no subscription email which we can click the link to cancel. Apple support sent us a link which is the same as the subscription management and there is NO cancel option!!! The only options are those expensive subscriptions which we for sure will not sign up. Please add “cancel” as one of the options or tell us how to cancel. Otherwise we’ll be forced to dispute through credit card company!

Actually this is good app to use . The image clarity is also nice . It helpful for students because even we can scan textbooks

Great for its ability to bind screenshots together as a .PDF file. Never had any issues with ScanGuru . Useful tools.

Just the idea of requesting payment + the very high price for a totally new app is not acceptable.
In addition, the way it capture pictures is not easy to handle.
