I’ve played this game for many years, and I’m not sure what’s been going on with it. Half the time it opens and sits at a blank screen. I’ll force close and open several times and sometimes it won’t load at all. Then today I noticed some weird rating system showing other people’s pictures at the top of my screen and there’s no way to turn it off. And to add to that, I accidentally placed a 1x1 tile and I’ve not seen one come back since. I’ve paid for ads to be removed and keep having to restore my purchase and since I’ve paid, there’s no ads for me to watch to get a 1x1 tile. I don’t want to pay for pieces or watch ads - that’s so dumb. This is the game I play when I need something and it’s so upsetting they’re continuously ruining it with non-user friendly changes and making HexFRVR glitch out. I won’t be playing anymore if the 1x1 tile doesn’t come back. That’s go to be the dumbest thing I’ve ever seen done to this or any puzzle game.
I actually do enjoy playing this game and, after months of doing so, decided to purchase the upgrade to have ads removed. This worked until the next update, in which ads once again started appearing at the bottom of my play screen. Now I know $3 isn’t a lot to most people, but when you’re on a fixed income like I am you don’t have money to just throw away. If you go to the company website for support, it just supplies you with a few how-tos that are mostly for browser versions of their games. No way to submit a support ticket.
So here I am. This is my support ticket, through Apple’s review forum. If my issue isn’t at least addressed by the creator, then I will request for my purchase to be refunded by Apple. Which is something I’ve only done once in the over 10 years I’ve been an iPhone user.
I have played this game for years. But near the end of 2023, they took out the 1x1 tile, making it significantly more frustrating and difficult (now my top score is 30k. Before it was 197k). I have reached out twice to customer support with no reply. I can’t tell if it’s broken or if they purposefully did this to get me to watch an ad after I lose. Sadly, when I watch an ad after I lose, it just starts a new game, so that feature also seems to be broken. Really hoping that they bring back the 1x1 tile. I would watch the ads if they did this.
I have been playing this game for over 8 years and it’s the only game I consistently played and enjoyed over the years. The recent update makes the game feel smaller and further away, especially with all the ads on the sides, and while I can get past that, the lack of single tiles has completely ruined the game for me. I have a 185k high score and can’t get past 5-10k now. It’s not enjoyable anymore when the game ends so quickly and every time I try to give it a chance I’m only disappointed. Sad to watch a small change ruin what was once such a fun game.
I used to enjoy this game. But they keep making it worse and breaking it. Now it doesn’t include the single piece making it impossible to play for long.
Also they keep adding more and more adds making it more difficult to just enjoy the game without all the junk.
Finally, the screen keep blanking out where I have to kill it and restart. That’s been a problem for many versions.
I’ve contacted the company and been told to contact support…duuu. But they don’t support.
So I am deleting and not purchasing anything else from this company.
First off, love this game, I play it all the time. The choice to remove the 1x1 tile has fundamentally broken the game. It’s near impossible to get above 30k now and it’s just nowhere near as fun when games have essentially been reduced from 10-15 minutes down to 2-3 minutes because of the removal of the 1x1 tile. I have no idea why the developer made this choice. I can’t recommend this game until they fix this, I will change my rating once they do.
Used to be the perfect game to play as a strategy challenge and focus exercise. Eventually was getting scores up to 248,000 that lasted 30 or 45 minutes.
Appears to have new owner developer teem that floods the game with distractive thought interrupting advertisements, VERY annoying hint feature that that you can’t turn off, auto starts while you are trying to think more than 10 seconds or pause to read a text. Worst part is if there are several options for your next play the auto hint will always pick the worst option for keeping the game going. The they will give you another move if you watch a 30 second commercial.
Difficulty level also artificially rigged by eliminating useful pieces to where I rarely get over 20,000 points and five minutes of play on an exceptionally great one. Just deleted and looking for an alternative but will miss the original game.
I have enjoyed Hex FRVRfor many years and always thought the were reasonable unlike many others. But the latest update has ruined it for me. I don’t get nearly as many singles and the extension offer slows things down and is merely because you’re greedy for more ad revenue. I’ve stopped playing almost completely and I will erase it soon.
Used to be so good at this game and was so excited to return to it. The new algorithm is awful! While it used to work in your favor, now it works entirely against you and certain essential pieces never come up. I'm so sad, this was my favorite game. I don't understand why that was necessary besides to have players lose more so they can show more ads🙄 Will be searching for an alternative.
I paid for no ads. And with the last update, something changed…and now I get ads every time I play. This game was one of my all time favorites…but I wouldn’t have paid for no ads had I known I was going to get them anyway. If you don’t mind ads, this is a great fun way to relax. But I DO NOT recommend paying for the no ad option. Disappointing.😞
Fun game, I used to play it often. The puzzle is completely non-verbal, no counting, no numbers … it would be an ideal puzzle to work while listening to a podcast.
As another reviewer said, the built-in music feature takes over the iPad’s audio channel, even if the music is muted — so no other audio can play while Hex FRVR is running. Seems like the puzzle creator doesn’t think about how/when users might want to play it.
And now it’s broken. HexFRVR gets stuck on the opening logo.
Probably a bug introduced in the last bug update …. Always ironic, that.
Giving HexFRVR 3 stars, on the assumption that the latest bug will be fixed.
I’ve played this game for years and have always loved it. That is until the most recent update. There were never any ads before but suddenly I’m getting ads left and right. Every time I open HexFRVR now there is an ad. And sadly there isn’t even an option to go ad-free. I’m so disappointed because this was one of my favorite games
Definitely bringing back the Tetris vibe! I’ve put about five hours into this game and it seems like there’s no real strategy to this, it’s mostly pure luck and once the board gets cluttered it’s almost impossible to clear it. Maybe if one could use the tokens to buy just the right piece or if there was a bomb to blow away the single stragglers... I really like the concept I just wish the individual games could last longer.
If they kept up with compatibility with the latest Apple devices and upgrades, these are the only games I would want. The variety is great. I love their Mahjong games the best, their Hex and Solitaire are fun. I love Lines which has remained compatible on my iPad 11. They sell their games so no irritating, infuriating ads. Please keep upgrading so I can enjoy my games again. I would love to buy if the games are compatible with current iPad technology! I would love to see you do Hearts!
I have this in three places - my iPhone, and twice in my Edge browser. Unfortunately, although I have my browser synced, I am having to re-earn the coins to get the theme I want. I get that the iPhone is its own thing, but I would expect that if my browser is synced between two devices, the game should sync, too.
Only thing I can complain about is that HexFRVR mutes any music your phone is playing when you open it. People would like to hear there music while playing the game...game music not so much. Have that turned off 24/7.
Seen on Reddit first. I was introduced to this game when it was just getting released and I ended up getting my whole office addicted to it. I'm glad there's a mobile version now so I can still play on the go! Keep up the solid work.
This game is very addictive. Mind you this is a good thing lol! I really enjoy playing it. I can't seem to stop or put my iPhone down. I just started playing this game about 30 minutes ago. I only play a few games, most are boring and too simple. Awesome Game !
Thanks,
Kathy Wills
My coworker got me, along with everyone else at work, hooked on this. We play it on our computers, as we’re not allowed to have our phones on the floor. I was glad I found HexFRVR so I can feed my addiction while at home as well. 🤫
Easy to play and to learn. It can be played anywhere & put down without having to worry about losing your game, just pick up where you left off. I love it, specially if I'm waiting for something or someone.

Create and destroy full lines on the screen in any of the primary three directions by dragging and dropping blocks to the screen and get amazing combo bonuses by destroying multiple lines at the same time.
