Paid for features app, now asking for subscription for exact same features. Bait and switch

2022-05-22

I paid a fee for HealthView and now I’m being asked to pay a monthly / yearly subscription for this exact same features Ive already paid for. I can understand switching models but you can’t leave your previous users in the cold, either offer a free subscription for a year or offer an option to continue using app without the newer features. Do not remove features I’ve already paid for, that’s essentially fraud and a bait and switch. I refuse to do pay again for an app I already paid for, even for a few new features simply as I was never given the option to keep using HealthView I paid for.

Beautiful Design, Rarely Works

2022-06-23

Yes, it’s a devastatingly handsome app and the premise is sound and useful. I would love it if it actually worked more. I look at the widget, it hasn’t updated in days. I try opening and closing the main app interface and, cool… wait… nope, only some of the data updated to the widget, only some data made it over from the watch. Even its failures are inconsistent. I want HealthView to work. I like it. Last time I complained: “Try the update.” It worked for a few days then crapped. Need a little consistency. I mean, it’s just translating data that’s already provided by the watch and the phone, so what’s the problem?

Add Averages To Main Screen

2022-07-24

The reason I got HealthView was because I thought it would be easier than looking through the FREE Apple Health app for relevant data.

It’s great you can pick to see your #’s on a Daily/Weekly/Monthly/Year time frame, but I’m disappointed I can’t toggle between Total & Average values. Seeing that I burned 692,636 calories doesn’t really mean anything to me, but the average over the selected time frame daily/weekly/monthly/yearly is something I could actually use.

And I want to see it on the main screen. I know it’s available if you click in the details, but if I wanted to do that, I might as well just save my $$ and stick with the Apple Health app.

Really disappointed in the latest update

2022-08-25

I have been using HealthView for 2 years and loved it! I paid a fixed cost when I originally purchased but since the latest update, it has become a subscription service. I have already paid for HealthView upfront, but now have lost access to the full services I once had, basically being forced back to the free app mode. I have no way of going back to the original paid version I had before upgrading and am not willing to convert to subscription just to keep my access. Really wish there was a way to restore my previous vision of HealthView , even if I could no longer update. Very disappointed….

Updates info Inconsistently

2022-09-26

Hoped it would cover the bases for those of us looking to transition from FitBit to AppleWatch3, however, HealthView doesn’t seem to automatically update the info it’s supposed to provide -
Example: I’ve selected >this app> Total Calories to appear on the bottom of my watchface. To access this info I should only need to look at the watchface- but HealthView doesn’t update data unless I stop, launch the this app app on the watch, scroll thru HealthView and select/touch Total Calories, (along with ever other category of info I’d like to review on the watch) -only then is the info updated in the watchface...

It’s astho HealthView defeats the entire point of itself. I’m hoping we’ll be seeing some fixes to this substantial problem soon.

Nice but could be so much more

2022-10-27

It cleanly displays health data as advertised. However, you can't use the data to create graphs, overlapping with other points of data to see correlations, or even get an average number from the week, month or year views. It only tells you the total. Why would these simple things not be included in an app designed to display data? Imagine plotting graphs to see visually how your sleep is impacted on the days you exercise -- what happens if you add caffeine? Does the time you have caffeine make a difference? You could toggle on or off what data points you want to see. I hope HealthView could rise to this potential.

Just what I was looking for!

2022-11-28

HealthView may single-handedly allow me to keep my Apple Watch. I was feeling very frustrated with the thought of losing the beautiful and simplistic fitbit layout that allows you to drill down and see information, but also has a dashboard that is simple and not overblown with information. Every app I had looked at that dissected Apple health info was either ugly and hard to understand, had too much information, or didn’t have enough information. HealthView has just the right amount of information, and even better customization than the Fitbit app had. The only thing left that HealthView doesn’t give me that I REALLY love in the fitbit app is the daily heart rate screen, along with the graph shown in color for the heart rate zones. Also the resting heart rate graph is really helpful for me. If they can add these two features, this finally gives the Apple Watch the same beautiful interface as the fitbit app. Thank you!

Best App I've found so far...

2022-12-29

I've searched for a good app to use for my Apple Watch for a long time now and this one is by far the best I've found. I agree with one of the other reviews where it needs to have the ability to set your week beginning day since Apple starts on Monday. Also, I would like the option to see actual figures on the graphs instead of having to slide your finger along the graph to see the figures. I post a lot of screenshots on Instagram and to see a comparison with the figures would be great! Still best app so far...

30 days 60 days 90 days 180 days

2023-01-30

I like this is great app compared to the stock Apple Health app. However the premium features need some improvement with the charts. The week, month and year option currently is limited to a ‘calendar’ Week, Month and Year. So during the beginning of a period the data shown is limited and not much useful. Please add options to display - 30 Days, 60 days, 90 days, 180 days and 1 year (for 365 days) so it can display by the no of days and not go by the calendar as it is now. Enable this option through a new settings option to switch between ‘calendar’ period and ‘days’ period. All charting standards generally follow preceding no of days!!

If there was one change I'd give a solid 5 stars

2023-03-03

I wish there was a way to change the "week" HealthView shows the week as Sunday-Saturday however the Apple Watch is default Monday-Sunday. So my weekly summary on my Apple Watch does not match my weekly chart on here. I understand not everyone would find this useful, that's why I wish there was an option to pick how/when you want the week to be set up on HealthView . I love everything else about it though!

Quick response from the developer- and I'm told they are working on this feature. I'll give it 5 stars when this is done! I'd give it 4.5 now if I could just based on quick response

Would love to see a better widget

2023-04-01

I love that HealthView has a home screen widget. It’s a great alternative to the apple health app which does not. However, I wish instead of just showing me a number for today, it would show a trend. For example, if I show my heart rate on the widget it would be nice to see my average heart rate today vs this month or something like that. If I were to show distance walked, it would be great if it showed distance today, total this week, total this month or something like that.

If HealthView better used the space on the widget it would be 5 stars.

Perfect app for seeing Apple Health data

2023-05-03

I love my Apple Watch over my old Fitbit but hate the HealthKit app. this app is the ultimate replacement that makes my Apple Watch a useful tool! I love that I can customize the layout to see the data that is important to me. One suggestion would be to make a goal option for a min or max. I.e. I want to set a max goal for carbs that I don’t exceed not a goal I want to reach and go above. This type of goal setting would make HealthView perfect. Keep up the good work!! Support is also excellent. Had an issue, they responded and now I am back working again.

Saved the Apple Watch for me

2023-06-03

I was gifted an Apple Watch, I had a Fitbit. My main goal is to track my activity and health. I liked the Fitbit I only wished I could respond to messages. But because Apple and Fitbit can’t play nice that feature never worked. I was highly disappointed in the Apple Watch Activity app! The fact that I couldn’t see how many total calories burned is insanity. I had to go onto the phone app, and it was a footnote on a chart. It’s terrible!!! I was truly to the point of coming up with a way to ditch this thing! I’ve been searching the internet and somehow stumbled upon HealthView. I selected the free trial and I am immediately happy! It’s now the best of both worlds. I can see every feature I want and customize it, and use Apple features, like respond to texts! HealthView has truly saved the Apple Watch for me!

Great app to replace Fitbit

2023-07-05

I don’t like the Health app, but I like my Apple Watch. HealthView makes it possible to see my steps and distance on my watch face and in the this app app. HealthView has a similar look to Fitbit, which I really liked, and it provides many options for configuration. I’ve checked many different apps that provide similar information and this one is my favorite.

I would to have more color options for HealthView , in addition to the light and dark mode. That would make it even better.

Thanks for providing such a great app!!

Do Not Update: removes features you paid for already

2023-08-05

their implementation of a new subscription plan removes all of the premium features you have ahead paid for if you owned HealthView before version 3.1.

do not update! the developer has instituted a new subscription fee for what you’d already paid for, not unlike buying a new car with cash and then two years later, the car dealer saying, “oh, hey now also pay us an annual fee or the wheels will stop turning, even though you’ve been doing that fine for two years already.”

WOW! ACCESS TO EVERY DATA TYPE APPLE HEALTH HAS

2023-09-06

This application shows data types or data sets that I didn’t even know that Apple health actually logged from my various health metric applications including the glucose levels waist sizes and body temperature. You can also vary the types of units allowed for most data sets and it is displayed on a well organized format and also creates great number of useful complications in addition to the ones that already exist for the Apple Watch. It is worth to pay the $5.99 for the premium version of HealthView this is a one time fee. Do not hesitate, get HealthView!

Great dashboard for HealthKit and improving!

2023-10-08

This is quantified self. Motivating and tons of data to dig into! Want a useful way to view your HealthKit data? This is it.

I think this is exactly what Apple had in mind when they did not make HealthKit a fancy app. HealthKit is a secure database and interface. It was designed so that third parties could offer a variety of information displays and inputs to suit the consumers individual preferences. HealthView is an awesome dashboard to display lots of data, provides great insights through its averages and is even my preferred place to enter water/hydration. It's not perfect yet, but appears to be completely headed in the right direction.

In conjunction with my Apple Watch, food logging app, and sleep tracking app the data passed through to this app is useful and motivating.

Love the customization / flexibility. Love the little goals to measure against. The last update added more food insights and added some more useful averages so I hope this is a sign the developer is active and improving the product to make it even more helpful.

Exactly what I was looking for.

2023-11-08

Great app overall, but the key thing that sold me (literally) was the easy export feature. Directly exporting from Apple produces lots of data files to sort through. Other apps may sum things up, but still produces lots of files (one per metric) and many only limited history. This one allows you to select just what you want and all into a single file summed by day (if desired) for easy review / manipulation. The only asks would be a workout specific export (incl workout type, duration, etc) and iOS Shortcut hooks for items such as scheduled exports. I’m already a “lifetime”, but this would be icing on the cake. Well done!

Great App!

2023-12-10

I have read many positive reviews but also a few negative ones. But I decided to try HealthView for myself. And I have to say that I really love it!

I have been very frustrated this past year with the standard Health and Activity apps built into iOS. The data displayed (especially the Health App) is very difficult to read and manage.

Although HealthView basically just copies over the same data, it displays it in a MUCH better way, with quite a bit of customization. And now I can easily see everything I want with just a quick glance. (I love the ‘Goals’ layout with dark mode).

The only thing that I can’t figure out is where it is getting the data for Resting Calories. This is the one field that doesn’t ever match the data from the Health app. (And I assumed HealthView was just copying over the same info). It’s usually about 50 cal (or so) off each day. It’s not that big of a deal and I’m guessing it’s somehow calculating differently, but I’m curious to know how.

My only wish is that they can eventually make this as an iPad app as well, with all the same data. I hate that there are no apps to show health data on iPad, so this would be a dream come true!

Great app that can still be improved further

2024-01-10

I have used this app app for 2+ years and it helps me to keep a track on my activity and dissect the data like no else. I especially like Monthly views to have a better view of my trends. There are still graphs however that are underdeveloped. Take the Body Fat graph that shows just straight line even if my body fat fluctuates by up to 2% in a month (that’s a lot). App properly captures data from Apple Health, just doesn’t scale the graph properly to display changes. I think it assumes that body fat can change 10-15% to show any trend. Same with displaying the average body fat % that only displays rounded number on the overview page. This is like rounding your weight to the next 10 pounds instead of displaying actual weight.

Ugh another subscription

2024-12-17

Why is this a subscription? It’s not a service there is no royalties to pay you don’t have to pay another service for data like weather apps do. This should not be a subscription. I would advise against this type of practice on HealthView Store and anyone considering HealthView think again as it only perpetrates this kind of awful business model. Even if you stumble upon HealthView/review do yourself and let developers know this kind of practice is not welcome but downloading, rate 1 star and delete HealthView .

Not displaying data

2024-12-17

I downloaded HealthView and started my 14 day feee trial... I’m on day 2 and I’m disappointed. I really was looking forward to all the data I’ve missed since upgrading from my Fitbit to an Apple Watch but my steps aren’t even updating... for 2 days it shows 00 when I go into HealthView . Another thing is it doesn’t allow you to go in and delete/update hydration intake. I have 12 days left but knowing me, if o can’t figure out how to get the steps update working, I will be deleting HealthView .

Great app, could use some updates

2024-12-17

Like most people who've owned a Fitbit, I miss it, a lot. The Apple health apps are terrible but this gives me a convergence of both worlds. I like how easy all my health stats are to read and that it's fairly customizable. My only complaint is that the apple watch complication does not update very often. This morning my steps were reset on the complication but it was still showing my hydration and exercise minutes from yesterday. Had to reset the watch. It would be nice if it updated in real time and if you could add how much water you've had straight from HealthView . Aside from that though I'm quite happy with it. It seems to be accurate and matches my activity data almost completely. I don't usually buy apps but as someone who really loved the Fitbit platform this almost does the trick.

Great info to see all in one place.

2024-12-17

Thank you for pointing out that dark mode can be turned on in the apps settings. I am used to apps defaulting to the setting that you have chosen for your display settings.

It would be nice if you made the items stand out more with larger and more contrasting fonts.

Also thank you for responding to my review. It shows that you value your user’s feedback. We are all working to try to improve your app.

Apple Watch App and iPhone App AMAZING

2024-12-17

After having a Fitbit for a few years I made the switch to an Apple Watch. I absolutely HATED the health and activity tracking and was thinking of switching back. It made me crazy. HealthView surpasses the Fitbit app and is a MUST HAVE on your Watch and phone. The customization options for the Watch and Phone and the numerous charts and data feedback options are jaw dropping. No other app I researched is this thorough with this many customization options. Amazing, amazing, amazing. Thank you so freaking much!

Awesome

2024-12-17

I really like the way HealthView displays my fitness data. The weekly and monthly views in HealthView are great and the Apple Watch complication is a great way to see my steps on the watch face. I could not restore my purchase after I updated to iOS 12 and updated HealthView , but within a few hours a new update was released and it works again. Very happy with HealthView and the developer for the quick fix!

Fixed! Just purchased, and now they want more money

2024-12-17

Update: fixed app for current owners. No issue now. Just purchased this two weeks ago prior to most recent update. New update now want more money on a subscription plan. Restore purchases does nothing in HealthView . Don't download until they fix and honor current owners.

I was offered a discounted subscription of $9.98 for the year, but when I claimed it, I was charged $99.99. I am unable to make contact with the App developer, or they are ignoring my emails and Apple keep saying that it isn’t their problem. I’m feeling very frustrated about this situation. What can I do?

Steps does not record

Dermot Grehan
2021-02-19

Hi, each time I open the app it asks me to turn all categories on in the health app which I do but this happens every time, namely walking and running distance, I love the app but would like a fix for this please.

Julia Cardinal

Health view stops working. It won’t record steps and doesn’t even have the right date. Turning the phone off and on didn’t help. I have used it for several years but now I will look for a more reliable app.
