I loved using this but...

The developer added a new subscription feature to support development of BlockFlow . That’s OK unless you purchased BlockFlow under a previous agreement. You could’ve done one of two things. First, you could have continued with BlockFlow and called it the classic version or something of that nature. You could’ve continue to update it and allowed for further use out of it for those of us who purchased it in good faith and wanted to continue to use it. Failing that and to me what would have been the better option would have been to grandfather everyone in who had already purchased BlockFlow under your old agreement. This way, you would’ve had a built-in base that would have advertised BlockFlow for you virally. Instead, I’m going to delete BlockFlow and go back to using “Forest” which has been upgraded frequently with no additional charges. I had purchased it also but ditched to B & F for reasons I had at the time.

This was bad execution for your customers. 👎🏽

Love this app, was willing to pay subscription

But it doesn’t work on my iPhone 5s! I learned this only after having to subscribe. The blocks don’t time, they immediately end right after I press to start a block. Very disappointing. Used this a lot a few years ago, decided to get back to it, but can’t.

Where’s the loyalty?

This used to be a great app for me and I paid the one time fee for the upgraded version. Now it’s completely unusable without a pro subscription.

I understand applying a new business model to new customers, but where’s the loyalty for your early, paying customers? How about honoring the purchase agreement that was in place at the time? I held up my end of the bargain. You got my money.

never download BlockFlow

the developers male price for BlockFlow the later change to their interest. I buy BlockFlow years before and now i can’t even use basic funtions unless i pay again pther price they put now. i mever write revoew about apps but this people are thief

Bait & Switch more like

I was a happy user of BlockFlow for a year . . . until . . . they just bricked it unless I purchase one of their “pro” subscription plans. Give me a break . . . a timer app has no excuse for calling themselves a service and demanding monthly payments to continue using any basic functionality. Charge a fair one time price for your app and then get yourself out of the middle of my way. I will be deleting BlockFlow now and using one of the bazillion alternatives. Too bad, too, this one had a nice clean design. Stupid business model though. And no transparency.

USED to be my favorite app

I paid for the upgrade and full version years ago which was supposed to be a one time purchase. Now I can't even do the basic version without paying a relatively high subscription fee. That is incredibly bad service for those that have been with you and bought it under old terms and conditions. I read a long response from the developer about 1000 true fans etc but I think he is also missing the fact that there are free apps out there and if you want to go viral it needs to be shared widely. I fully support and pay for apps that offer a free limited version and then a paid more fancy version. But this development in inordinately increasing the price for even those of us who paid for the full version years ago is bad business and I can't in good faith recommend them again. I used to even advertise BlockFlow in my lectures on productivity and to my grad students but no more. What I will say is he refunded me two years of the paid subscription as an offer of good faith.

Previous, outdated review: " BlockFlow is my favorite pomodoro app and I've tried dozens. I love the elegant design and the graphical representation of your work flow."

Update: I tried to live this app, but

First, I gave feed back to the developer on a functionality that was not intuitive and repeatedly caused me problems. He essentially said “you’ll get used to doing it our not great way.”

In addition, There are bugs that make the blocks turn off when certain other apps are opened. Since there’s no way to manually update to correct to help keep track of where I’m spending my time, both of those things were deal breakers. I switched to ATracker and love it. It’s not pomodoro, so wouldn’t work if that’s what you care most about. I have learned I prefer the flexibility of capturing the small bits of time that add up - and just use my phone timer to drive pomodoro blocks when I want to approach focused work.

Original review
Helps me focus and spend time where it matters most
I was not aware of how much time I was spending getting ready to do things vs. actually doing them. It’s all right there in colored blocks - there’s no hiding from it. Now my weekly and daily goals are built around getting a certain number of blocks, so I am doing what is important and will have the most impact. This has been truly transformational for my productivity. Thank you!

Glitch?

I bought the 1 year subscription but when BlockFlow mess up and I try to delete and reinstall it won’t recognize I have a membership. It says “free trial expired” but when I go to get the subscription it says “you are already subscribed” annoying so I’ll find something else to use even though this subscription is paid for until Feb 2021

Pretty but not doing what I need

I really like the user interface and how simple it is, but it only breaks the block when you actually exit out of BlockFlow —if you just minimize it to go to another app, it keeps the block going. Found myself straying to Facebook, realized what I was doing, and came back to find the block still going. Not sure if it’s possible to break the block when it minimizes, but that would be good, especially if you can choose apps to exclude from breaking a block (I get a lot of calls on my cell for work so wouldn’t want the phone app included). Would be a good app for someone with better focus than me, I think, but I need something more intensive to break my bad habits.

Edited to respond to developer: being able to adjust severity would be awesome! I would personally want the block to break when exiting or minimizing BlockFlow .

Ok, would be better if...

You could customize individual blocks

4 stars going on 5

This concept / approach to time and task management works really well for me, and i have used all the prominent pomodoro apps out there. I would really like to see a watch app or complication that syncs well. Or else i will have to make it myself!

GREAT time management system

BlockFlow has great user interface and design. It's intuitive, and what's more, the system is the best I've found to manage time--a combination of setting goals, pomodoro timers, and interstitial journaling that really just...works. Highly recommend!

Simple, effective

Works great, and BlockFlow is trying to be simple, but I wish I could add notes to each block or give myself more critical feedback. Some work blocks simply are not productive, but the worst I can rate it is "Good."

Overall, great app!

Very helpful

BlockFlow is mostly just a pretty timer. It won’t actually stop you from distracting yourself and it’s history function is sort of useless. However, it makes it really easy and gratifying to time 25 minute focus blocks, which is apparently exactly what I need to get stuff done.

Major progress!!

This is an app that’s a visual display of your progress. Blocks of time, goals, organized with categories in different colors makes it a personal goal getter app. So nice!

Perfect for visual ppl!!!

I haven’t been in real school for a while, so I had to find a way to get back into study mode and I believe BlockFlow is it. I am a first year dental student and seeing the blocks and being able to see how much I have accomplished and that keeps me going! Thank you to the developers of this simplistic, efficient app! Bravo Zulu!

Focus in Simple Block of Time

Focusing is a hard. BlockFlow tries to make it easy. All you need is 25 minutes to start building blocks to more focused timeframes in your life.

Love it!

Helps you really keep on track and take breaks. Helps give you little productivity rewards within the day.

Downloaded last week and so far so good

I was trying to find a pomodoro timer that didn't have as many ads and extra in app purchases crap and this ones pretty good so far! I changed my settings for 15min a task, 3 min break and a 15 long break. I currently work from home and am having trouble focusing so being able to break down my tasks in short bursts reeeally help the overactive mind 🙂

Study smarter!

Great for practice or studying
Minimal design no annoying adds
Straight to the point and loving it.
Great product I highly recommend the purchase
