It seemed great at first and I even bought the business edition login.
That said TheHomeRemote appears to only sync a portion (176) of my SmartThings devices (across two hubs and 280 devices). A lot of devices are missing.
The business edition login doesn’t even seem to work even after paying for it.
I kinda just gave up on trying to use that particular feature.
However I am trying to use more but finding it limited since it can only partially sync devices. Hopefully I just missed something that needed to be done or a feature enabled.
Doesn't work with nest accounts that are linked to Google, which ALL new nest users will be since Nest is now part of Google. Makes no sense.
I will change my rating whenever Nest service gets added which was the only reason I used TheHomeRemote.
Was hoping to be able to see my cameras and maybe control locks, lights, thermostat from my phone. But TheHomeRemote only indicates it is aware of the devices, and otherwise nothing happens. I can see through the cameras, or see temperatures, or anything. I’m using a Vera Lite, and despite the documentation saying it’s supports it, I suspect home remote simply doesn’t. It’s a shame, because the dashboard looks well designed and easy to use.
I have this for about 9 months but they giving us a problem. It giving me an error every time. I open the garage on the remote but when it’s open the remote on my apps still saying closed. Why is this happening? Not a good thing.
I have two separate Lutron bridges and only one can be configured to use with TheHomeRemote. Once you’ve given it a Lutron email address, you cannot add another Lutron address and you can’t even remove the old address so there’s no way to support multiple Lutron bridges.
I like the interface and this would make a great app for a mounted tablet controller. I wish it supported a few more devices like Wyze. The lack of Wyze support keep me from using TheHomeRemote.
This has been one of the best apps I have used to consolidate and control over various vendors for home automation.
Over the years it has slowly been loosing it ability though to work with some vendors.
Most recently the MyQ functionality no longer works. TheHomeRemote development team needs to fix the broken ones.
How awesome is it to have one app that controls all of my devices. I don't have to use the Honeywell app and the Chamberlain app and the Harmony app... Etc etc. I can use one to control them all. Everything seems to work well, quick response from my devices. I wish there were some more personalization options, and I'm a little concerned about inputting all my info into TheHomeRemote , but it seems to all run through the secure third party sites. So far it's awesome
Hard to find something that works with smart life app!
Can not link to an account in the support list, TheHomeRemote automatically does not end
I have been wanting to build a customized Home Automation Dashboard on my iPad for a very long time, and I was very pleased to come across Home Remote. The Designer software was exactly what I was looking for. It provides very powerful interfaces to help me design my ideal dashboard - transparent buttons, scripts, extensive device support, web image feeders, …
It does require some basic technical skills though. I’m not a programmer, so I had to spend a bit of time to figure it out, but I have gotten an amazing support from the owner of the software, and I’m very pleased with my results ! His wonderful responsiveness to my questions is definitely worth highlighting in my review.
This is so easy to use. Linked all my devices without any problems!
Try it, you won’t be disappointed.
I was a user of the now discontinued VeraMate application, and I was looking for a user interface that could give me the data I needed at a glance. I constructed a VeraMate replacement user interface with all of the data and control functions I needed in under two days.
There is one thing it seems I cannot do, dynamic tile reordering. When a device is "inactive," it will leave a blank space in the device browser. When the device is "active," it will then fill in that space.
A few notes on customizing:
TheHomeRemote will run without Designer using default groups.
Highly customizable with Designer.
A Windows machine is required to run Designer.
Designer has a mild learning curve.
Some programming knowledge is helpful.
I really like this program, and it definitely fulfilled my needs. If you dig in and learn the Designer operating principles, I think you'll be very happy with the end result.
I needed a front end for my SmartThings based home automation and this works perfectly! Use the desktop designer app to get started, then save your work and restore the file on your iOS device.
Can't wait to wall-mount my iPad!
TheHomeRemote makes it so easy to use my phone as a universal remote, far easier to use and faster than the harmony app.
Would be nice if you could choose a custom background, though.
I just got a harmony hub and was horrified when I opened TheHomeRemote and saw the layouts for my devices. Thank you for providing a device remote app that actually look like a remote and not a jumbled mess with misspellings.
Control all of the devices listed from one, simple to use, app. Download the desktop app and you can modify or build your own design. Works great on IPhone and IPad. The developer is quick to respond if you have an issue. Give it a try - you won’t be disappointed.
I’ve been looking for a better UI for my SmartHome gear - tried a bunch but they’re either too limited or a tinkerer’s dream. Home Remote is what I was looking for. It works with most of my gear and brings it all together on one screen. Better than that, I didn’t have to become conversant in scripting or Linux to do it. And... I sent off a question to the dev and had a HELPFUL response in less than 15 minutes...!
Seems to be hardly any limit to this great app. I use Insteon, X10 via Homeseer, Z-wave, direct IP control, Nexia, Directv, Alexa, etc. It integrates all my legacy control modules and everything I’ve adopted since into a single control app.
My only want is for TheHomeRemote to load and refresh devices more quickly (or maybe less often, perhaps a setting for on-demand only), but I understand that this function depends heavily on network latency and sometimes availability of the services web portals.
I was about to pull wemo devices out, deprogram them, and reinvent the wheel. Then I remembered TheHomeRemote from my Windows Phone days.
I am ever so happy with my home automation again.
