Showaround - Find a Local Reviews

For years it has been an excellent app allowing you to have the assistance and of a local in each destination. The procedure was to create a trip , and the locals offer their services at an hourly rate. I used Showaround always as a visitor. I have always made the payments on time and I have got excellent reviews of the guides. I had great experiences and I loved Showaround .
Unfortunately, this app changed for the worse and pretend to charge the visitors $25 per month. This is US$300 per year, even if you only travel once or twice. Showaround still allows you to create a trip and notifies the locals. However, this app blocks the offers and messages that you may receive from locals, so the visitor can no longer hire them, and they will no longer have the possibility of work. It would be more logical and fair to charge a commission per trip and not to pretend to charge $300 per year. And remember : afterwards you have to pay the local. In case of few annual trips, it is better to hire a professional guide.
this app, unless it change its policy, is a useless app for the traveler. It's a pity!

I have only used Showaround for one tour so far in Budapest Hungary with tour guide Agnes and it was amazing. I had some reservations about the idea of a local showing us around but it was truly a great experience. I’ll definitely have to use this service again. Sure beats the sterile hop/off busses or huge tour groups.

Unfortunately you aren’t going to get much out of Showaround . All these 5 star reviews are false, created by programmers, just like a lot of the “locals” available. Specifically the “free” or cheaper priced profiles. I’m traveling to a single area for an entire month, contacted 7+ profiles multiple times, and didn’t get a single response. I’m guessing the cheaper profiles are to get you to buy Showaround . I can’t confirm they are bots. Probably those who wanted to use Showaround , but are required to create a profile showing they are “show-a-rounders” in their are. Don’t get to excited.

The idea for Showaround is great, runs well, but I’m traveling alone. My budget is tight and can’t afford $20 to even $60 an hour to be shown around! Purchasing Showaround is $18 I won’t get back.

Unless you have some serious money to burn paying a local to show you around, just talk to your hotel front desk or Airbnb owners. It would just have been nice to at least get a response... 😕

Don't get me wrong, Showaround works fine, despite a few glitches here and there, however I feel like the cost is high to sign up, and 90% of people were not available, even during my trip in October. However, I did connect with tours on our trip, which were mixed, but cool. So, overall, I would reccomend Showaround , but don't get overly hopeful about choosing guides/quality.

I use this app nearly every tine I travel, even if I think I know a city or country. The friends you meet are amazing and there is no way an outsider can find the hidden gems your hosts seem to always know about. Thanks for creating it.

Been using it a few times as my parents are visiting me in Thailand and Bali for a few weeks. Great to be able to quickly book a local to help me show them around! App works just fine.

Show-around, It's one of the must important application before I travel to any place it's the best way to know the city you visiting from inside out with its own people.

I used this app for my first time in Tokyo and had a great experience.
Showaround works well (messages send/receive quickly with no issues) and I met up with a great tour guide.

I don’t know what’s the point if you put a premium to contact with people, I already new at Showaround and no one can pay for anything before trying it!!!
That’s very weird and that’s the meaning of “ the creator is only looking for money not for popularity or to be the best app “ I am sorry but I don’t like this kind of apps and I don’t want to support it at all.

One of the applications to let you to have someone in other countries to show you the country around

There is a glitch where l get an email about new message and and l can open it up in safari, but message is nowhere to be found in Showaround .
Also, l can’t delete certain messages from certain people.

I love this app! It’s definitely useful when traveling to another country solo! I am leaving my trip with a new friend thanks to this app. I definitely recommend!

My wife and I had a great experience in Kolkata, India with Jagrity. We can’t complain about anything, Showaround works great for us.

Showaround makes it impossible to stop your subscription. Do Not Pay them. I’m still attempting to end my subscription after closing my account several months ago. Hopefully Apple support can get this solved for me

Very silly to charge a fee to search, should be commission based after a deal is reached and taken from the proceeds the guide will make.
