The ide aid ARDMediathek is good. I use it a lot to keep touch with live in Germany while living abroad.
That’s the good par. The quality of ARDMediathek is beyond appalling. Just watched a program where the audio went into a loop and video continued. After a while both continue out of sync. That happens every other minute.
Some programs won’t start. You won’t get any UI indication if this is because there is a DRM issue or if ARDMediathek hangs or what. All that does not happen on browsers or on the iPad but on Apple TV. So someone needs to do their job.
One star is generous

With the previous Das Erste app, I really enjoyed watching the livestream of Das Erste, but now, I can watch the shows I like (mainly Gefragt-Gejagt), but the livestream no longer functions. On the old app, there used to be a popup when show was blocked outside of Germany (mainly with sport), and I feel this could happen again. I like ARDMediathek, but it could definitely be improved.

When I AirPlay a video and the screen goes to sleep the video goes off and reverts to an earlier video.
The only way to avoid this is to quit ARDMediathek and restart, and make sure only to play the video one wants to watch.
This bug has plagued ARDMediathek for years, earlier versions were also affected. Please fix it already!

ARD mediathek used to be a good source for all kind of videos broadcasted by the public German TV stations. It’s unbelievable how such a big organization (stuffed by billions of taxpayers money) can mess up a previously working app. App got terrible slow; certain functions don’t response or work at all; player doesn’t forward/rewind; etc....
How can you release an App that’s not even on beta-level???
Waste of public money - shame on you ARD!

As other reviewers, for almost a year now the audio is getting out of sync for many videos.
People are commenting on this for more than a year now without a fix.
In every profit-oriented company everyone responsible for this would be fired by now.

I live in the US and enjoyed watching German TV - up until ARDMediathek was ‘changed and improved’- the streaming now is very bad, unfortunately. Very disappointing, sometimes good things don’t need to be fixed!

It seems to me that ARDMediathek had been update recently and the caption is not showing anymore. Even streaming from iPad via apple the caption will not showing on tv.

Since ARDMediathek has been improved I cannot finish watching any show like f ex Tatort. Very frustrating snd meaning that I will have to stop watching ARD all together. What a bad new app!!!

This new app is very slow crashes and does not let me stream on my Apple TV, I am so glad I still have the old app on my iPhone.
I thought update supposed to make things better just did not happen here I am very disappointed.

ARDMediathek crashes a lot. I’m glad that I didn’t have to pay money for it. Pity.

After the latest update ARDMediathek does not work anymore. It keeps in the loading screen and after a while disconnects. Testing prior to releasing may help.

Diesen Satz scheint man bei der ARD nicht zu kennen. Vorherige Versionen liefen wesentlich besser und stabiler unter den aktuellen iOS Versionen. Warum man das kaputt bastelt, erschließt sich mir nicht. Schade, denn die Mediathek ist mir (und vermutlich vielen tausend anderen im Ausland lebenden Deutschen) ein äußerst wichtiger Verbindungspunkt in die Alte Heimat. Vielleicht schafft ihr es ja, dem jungen Gemüse in der Abteilung Social Media, die vermutlich diese App entwickeln, mal Nahe zu legen, diese App eingehender zu testen, bevor sie zum update publiziert werden.

Absolutely useless - if you click on a video it plays some random musical HR video.

ARD funded by dictatorship like gez Gebühr, revamps a ok product now only good for the trashcan. They have no intend to perform, just toward wasting hard eared taxpayer or use it for the greed of their highly overpaid left wing executives. A regime kim jong un or Maduro would be proud off.

ARDMediathek ist not working with Chromecast

App doesn’t prevent iPad sleep when video is playing, and video will only play when App is in foreground and active, so forget about airplay to your apple TV. As soon as your iPad sleeps the video stops.

Abspielen über Chromecast funktioniert schon seit Monaten nicht mehr richtig. Ton ist gestört und dauernd laut-leise. Ich habe die Abspielqualität auf NIEDRIG geändert, wie vorgeschlagen, dann kann man gar nicht mehr abspielen. ZDF Mediathek funktioniert einwandfrei, daher scheint es eher nicht meine Hardware/Software zu sein. Sehr frustrierend!

Seit neuesten funktioniert nichts mehr mit der App. Sobald man iPhone sngasst, fängt der Film von ganz vorn an. Ton ist nur noch abgehackt. Sehr oft verliert man Kontrolle über Chromecast in der App. War alles schon einmal VIEL besser. Da hat jemand trotz unsere Gebühren nur Pfusch gemacht. Wenn ihr Privatunternehmen wärt und nicht einfach jedes Jahr die Gebühren für Euren Pfusch einfach so erhöhen dürftet, wäre diese App schon lange korrigiert. Aber das geht nun schon einige Monste so und kein Update gemacht. Ihr wisst doch dass ich Pfusch gemacht habt. Jeder Test hätte euch das gezeigt
