Typorama: Text on Photo Editor Reviews

This is just what I’ve been looking for to easily create posts with my own pictures. Typorama is easy to use and takes only a few minutes to create a post. I love being able to: save the images I create with a single tap; create a theme with using the same type daily- where it adjusts the design to the number of words but keeps the theme of type the same. This feature alone is brilliant as it helps create a brand look; love the watermark which allows me to have my website address on each post- and places it automatically on posts. And it’s all easy! I’ve been dreaming of just such an App for ages. So glad I found this. Thank you for your design.

I’ve been using Typorama for awhile and loved it. Including having my own watermark! Awesome. However, I just got a new phone and am now being asked to upgrade again- I’ve already paid. Hmmm, why because it’s a new phone? And, it’s saying I have 5 hours to decide. Please help ASAP for my original payment to have my own branding watermarks.... via my new phone please. Was counting on using Typorama today and in upcoming days pretty extensively. Now I can’t unless I pay additional over what I originally paid- without notice except when I logged on and tried to use Typorama . Thank you.

**Just saw there was an update. Did it and my previous purchases have been restored. Even though I love Typorama and how easy it is to create with, I’m only giving it 4 stars for the slow response to the issue (from other reviews I wasn’t the only one having the same issue) and hearing nothing back from the developers after sending my proof of purchase. Stumbled on this latest update “accidentally” as I was looking at my account. Hope others who are having the same issue find the update and get their purchases restored. **

I too had paid a year and a half ago to remove the watermark and unlock all the fonts. Last week I found the watermark back. Tried restoring past purchases, nothing happened. I contacted 2 different email addresses I found within Typorama . It took 48 hours for them to get back with me. They asked me to send a receipt of the purchase. Thank god I save the receipts I get from Apple for any purchases. I emailed the receipt and it’s going on 3 days with no response yet. Will post an update if I do hear back from them.

I really do love Typorama! I use it pretty much every day. One suggestion I might have is to add or change out fonts a little more. Like, have one that will constantly change or rotate with seasons or even a couple times a year. Like the Halloween typeface... maybe it isn’t Halloween all year long? Anyway, the reason I gave Typorama 4 stars instead of 5 stars is because the most recent update I have no longer allows users to change the opacity of the watermark or use or change a drop shadow on the watermark. If there is a way to do this and I’m missing it, feel free to tell me where or how to do this within Typorama . It’s also loaded my same watermark 6 times, even though I’ve only ever used one custom watermark ever. If I could control the watermark (opacity and drop shadow) again like I could before, I would certainly update my review to reflect 5 stars! (Also, would be cool if it was possible to do a color overlay on my watermark to change the color, but with the complications that might cause to create such a feature, I’m not counting on that one. Would be fun though! )

Great options and easy to use. However, extremely frustrating that there is no “undo” button, yet texts generated are entirely random so you have to go through them slowly because otherwise you have to
click a million times to get back to the one you liked. It’s honestly ridiculous that an app I paid for doesn’t have the simplest undo function. Next, every time you select a font type or click to see another version of that font type, it resizes your text NO MATTER WHAT. So you have to resize it over and over and over and over to be able to see if that particular font type works for your photo. This is just stupid. It shouldn’t resize the text automatically at all, much less after you’ve already adjusted it and set it to your liking. These two things are such basic and primitive features that should be in ANY app like this, especially one in which you pay to use all of the options. This would be a 5-star app if fixed.

I love Typorama when it works! I’ve created so many great things for my personal and professional IG account. The only issue I seem to keep having is with my subscription recognition. I have had a paid subscription for probably 2 years now, and every 5 or 6 times I sign in, Typorama treats me like my subscription doesn’t exist. So, it places the watermark over my work and won’t let me delete it until I “upgrade” (which I cannot do, since I have the pro package), and I don’t get access to all the other perks of being a subscriber. I don’t mind this glitch every now and then, bc usually I close Typorama and reopen and it works fine. But these last couple of times, it won’t work. When I hit “upgrade,” I am told I already have the subscription and cannot upgrade, but still... nothing changes. Other than this, this is the best app I’ve seen for clear and easy creations for someone who needs to make content on the fly.

I absolutely LOVE Typorama! Best graphics and presentation app I’ve found. Love the latest upgrade for the iPad. Would’ve given five stars if their was capability to copy your text creation and use it again on the same project because many times I need the same graphic over and over and am stuck having to do each individually and then reformat the text Style and tap thru until I finally get to the identical style I have just created prior and then resize it and try to get the two graphics the same size to be identical. Copy would be so much faster and highly efficient. Also, the only “undo” option is on the eraser - love having that but would also like to see an undo option for text formatting and landscape options also. That would make Typorama be so much more powerful and projects could be created so much more quickly than the way it’s done now. Other than that LOVE LOVE LOVE it

There are many pros and cons to Typorama.
I love all the stock images, and the fonts available to everyone, and I really like how you can pick random quotes, because I’d never heard of some of them before. That’s great!
But some things that really bug me is the fact that you have TO PAY TO SAVE THE IMAGE AND RETURN TO IT LATER!!! I think that they shouldn’t charge us for wanting to work on it later, it’s
Ridiculous in my personal opinion. Also, lots of the fonts you have to pay for. $5.00!!! That’s not a huge deal, but it’s a con on this pros and cons list. Lastly, the watermark add. At the bottom of you image that you have created, once you save to your photos or share, a large add shows up. And I mean HUGE compared to PicCollages watermark add. That had bugged me, but this is crazy. Could you maybe make it smaller if it HAS to be there please? Overall, this is a pretty good app that I will definitely keep, despite the things that bug me. Thank you for creating this!!!

I would like to begin by expressing my love for Typorama . The more I use it, the more I like it, however there are some things that need fixed and some things that I think would make Typorama better.
For one, the 3D rotate feature is broken; the picture saves incorrectly, without the rotation in place. I have to take screenshots of the picture and crop it, which affects the quality of the photo.
Also, every time I click "reuse," it affects the integrity of the previous text. Again, I have to get around this by taking screenshots and cropping.
As for additions, I think it would really add to Typorama if there were an option to reverse the text so that it can be backwards for things like reflections and shadows.
Overall, I really enjoy Typorama , but I think it could be better if it were fixed and some features were added to improve the experience. Please take my input into consideration. Thanks!

I’m very upset to say that out of all of the apps I’ve used to make videos and collages, this is one of the few that didn’t spit in my face.

After Splice dropped a major bomb on me by giving us that atrocious new update, I had to resort to using a different editor. Luckily with this app though, Typorama just keeps getting better with every update. Why? It’s simple, this app doesn’t remove content, instead they continue to add content and everything is so unbelievably easy to use. I mean it when I say there is no Text Editing application on the level of this app.

If you’re someone like me who loves to make videos and collages, then please download Typorama. You’ll be doing yourself a favor by getting Typorama, also do yourself a favor and buy PRO.

Different styles and letters but you can’t save your edits. If you by any chance loose something is lost forever. This is why I change my review from 5 starts to 3. The other thing you can’t edit while working you have to go out and re-use it. If you want to edit what you have done previously is impossible.
UPDATE
They removed Typorama after I bought the option to remove the logo. When I install it again it’s asking a membership to remove the logo. Wasted money. And there are better apps, like PicsArt you can use it without a membership. What happened to buying options on apps every one now wants for you to continue paying for stuff you will never use. 👎🏼👎🏼👎🏼

At first I was stunned by the chutzpah of somebody so brazenly ripping off WordSwag, one of the best and most beloved apps in the store. But then I tried it and I see that they have truly added a ton of features. Still, WordSwag sells from 99 cents to as much as five dollars depending on when you buy it. But the real difference between them is not $$ but approach to graphic design. If you want your type to look like it was done by a graphic designer without being a graphic designer, choose WordSwag. Adding all these options makes it possible to make something hideous unless you have skills. I suspect that s keep-it-simple design approach is why the makers of WordSwag refuse to offer all these choices. And the type designs in WordSwag are in a whole other league (and there are more options) than the ones in this app. Having said all that, I would have upgraded if it wasn’t so expensive.

I feel like anytime I write an app review it usually means there are things I really like about it, but then there just 1 or 2 caveats that make it excruciatingly painful because Typorama is so close to being everything I hoped for.

This is one of those apps.

It does a fabulous job with the fonts. And the fonts are great. The problem though is Typorama doesn’t really allow you to edit what it turns out. All you can do is click again and hope that eventually it will randomly set all the things the way you like it. You have no idea how frustrating it is to sit there for 15-30min waiting for the right combination of bigger/smaller fonts, underlines, art, etc. only to realize when it did finally get it right, Typorama actually also included a border around the whole thing.

Thus Typorama becomes VERY aggravating. There’s been moments where I’ve totally yelled at the screen lol

If there could be a few things that’d allow the user the ability to modify what is on the screen that would amazing. Also when moving text boxes around it’d be nice if they’d actually remain stationary, and then allow us the ability to rotate them. Also also, if they could click into place with stuff kinda like the Adobe collage app... Typorama would be off the hook.

First I’ll say that I really like Typorama. I’ve been using it for several years, and it’s by far the best out there for adding text to images. I use it maybe once a month, to make a birthday card or to send Mother’s Day wishes. Today i opened Typorama to make a birthday greeting, and found that “Made with this app” appears along with my text, slightly smaller but still right there as part of my message. As a designer, I really don’t want my photo and my greeting to be an ad for Typorama , which is now standard unless I become a “pro” subscriber at the “discounted” rate of $2.99 a month. I’d be happy to purchase Typorama the way other vendors sell their apps, for $1.99 or $2.99 or maybe even for $5.99. But $36 a year???? No way. I’ve just deleted Typorama from my phone. Really disappointed in this approach.

Sooooo wish this had a snapping to grid feature for when you resize objects. I was originally using another very similar app and it had that feature which I think is super important!

Being able to resize things so they aren’t slanted - if / when that gets added I will be rating 5 stars and recommending to everyone I do business with because the ability to save your templates is key! Typorama is amazing overall and I highly recommend it!

The customer service is incredible as well, no complaints besides the snapping that’s why I’m rating it a 3 because it’s very frustrating. If I were to be “picky” I don’t like the dark user face - I think for a design app it could be designed way more “clean”, but hey - it gets the job done for a flat fee and they aren’t charging you $20 a month...something to be thankful for!!

I have been using Typorama for about 3 months now And I can tell you for certain that Typorama is the best I’ve used in the market so far. However I have renewed my subscription, I’ve been charged and it’s showing active in my list of managed App on my IPhone 7, but it’s not reflecting on Typorama as it still asking me to upgrade to pro and when I do that it still tells me I have already subscribe for this service. I’m asking the developer to please look into this ASAP as my subscription is currently running and I haven’t been able to use the pro features.

I left my original review at the bottom, but wanted to provide some new details. The projects feature means that I don’t have to recreate new items from scratch which means all I have to do is update the picture and the text. The only issue I have is that when the text is updated, it changes the style and size. Since it’s an edit, the text formatting should remain exactly the same until changed manually. That keeps me from giving 5 stars.

The latest update makes it more difficult to create content by increasing steps/clicks. It also removed the outline feature for text. Hopefully, I have the older version backed up so I can revert back.

I bought the pro version of Typorama because it has everything I need to generate the content I create. Versatile, easy to use, intuitive, high quality posts created quickly and effortlessly.

Note for developers: The only detail I found as a negative is that it doesn’t contain any character nor grammatical punctuations from the Spanish alphabet. Like á, é, í, ó, ú, ñ, etc. So the posts I create in Spanish need extra work and extra time due to the editing I need to do outside of Typorama , once the image is already generated. Solving this minor issue would make Typorama plainly perfect. I’m looking forward to an update.

Well, For the 7 months I had it, only 5 months of the time I had it worked. Before it was doing very good, I liked all the fonts, but lets get to the point.. It won't work for me. I uninstall and install Typorama over and over again, but it still won't work correctly... It wont let me pass to the fonts, gradients, etc. I mean It worked fine for a pretty little while, the up sides to Typorama is that you can use your photo, or even just some random photo. I also really enjoyed the fonts while they lasted but now it just wont work, and I really wish I could get it to work again..

No offense to graphic designers but as a small business owner I have a limited budget. With marketing costs being what they are, and more so in this pandemic I have minimize some cost. Typorama is AMAZING! I used it to design my logo for product boxes. I used it to design artwork for merchandise for my product line. I used it help my daughter with a project. The possibilities have been endless. I don’t have to pay out money for the smaller branding designs. I now have the option of seeing what I can do first. I have even purchased it for two of my devices on other accounts. You can’t beat the price or the quality. BUY Typorama AND THANK ME LATER!

My first review on anything, ever. Love Typorama! It takes your social media game to the next level by adding awesome designs and fonts to your everyday photos, or search their multiple databases for a template picture. Each font has several various designs you can choose from, making hundreds of different options. All from the free version- which I have. It’s easy to use, has a sleek design, and is way better than just for fonts! You could make posters with it, pictures for websites, and more! I’ve used it for personal and business IG and FB pictures, and also to make super cute labels for a body care line. Definitely recommend it

With a little creativity combining the tools and features with the tons of hip text layouts, you can do a lot more than you might first think with Typorama. Killer good shortcut for advertising, titling anything, presentation screen section headings, greeting cards, announcements, packaging, and whenever you just want to look like you know what you’re doing.

User tips: Keep hitting each particular style for more and more versions, fonts, left/right justification, and changing word emphasis. Try a two or three color palette for some good effects. Input each word of a phrase on a separate line and click ‘Manual line breaks’.

Pretty cool.

If you want to make your own quotes, signs, or add a little something to your personal photos this is an amazing app with no annoying adds. The layout of Typorama is very professional and clear. Very simple and easy to use. Even if you're a business owner who's trying to promote business you can use Typorama for adding amazing text styles to your photos. The text styles and options for customization are plentiful. Yes, to fully unlock Typorama completely it cost $5...in my opinion that's better than most apps where you have to pay monthly. Awesome Awesome!!! Wish I would have found Typorama sooner.

I can't really add to what else everyone else said about how good Typorama is. The only issue I've come across is that there is no way, at least apparently, to control which type of text box shows. For example, some text options show up with different styles. Instead of cycling through a list until you get to the one you want, you have to keep clicking the options randomly until you get the desired style box. I would like to have a list of options instead of the random feature. Makes making images a lot more feasible.
