Versatrans My Stop Reviews

Our school started using VersatransMyStop at the end of last school year. It was buggy then and hasn’t gotten any better. VersatransMyStop will only log in for one out of every 30 or so attempts. Although it appears to have functionality for tracking a bus for multiple students (I have one in middle school and one in elementary), I have to log out and play the “will it or won’t it” log in game.

If it actually functioned as intended, VersatransMyStop would be great. It would be nice to be able to check when the bus will be here instead of standing in the heat/rain/cold and waiting (sometimes for over 40 minutes - but that’s not VersatransMyStop , that’s the school district).

I will be waiting for my child at the bus stop and it was change multiple times from bus is running on time 4:30 (when the current time is 4:45), to the bus is late, to the bus has past your stop. Then the bus will show up.

I have tried tracking the bus and it will show the bus at a stop for a long time when I can see if driving through the neighborhood. Then it freezes the bus in one spot very far away and it looks like the bus is no where near. Then the bus magically pops up at the stop but of course VersatransMyStop still has it frozen 5 miles away.

I’ve actually never written a review in the 10 years I’ve had an iphone but this was by far the worst app I’ve ever downloaded so I felt compelled to write a review. I was so excited to have the ability to see where my child was and when he was arriving. I guess I’ll just have to cross my fingers another company will come along and actually try to make a working app for this. Until then, there is no point in keeping an app on my phone that doesn’t have even one working feature.

VersatransMyStop doesn’t do anything other than show me when my child has scanned on and off the bus. I can’t see when the bus is coming before my child is on it. It also doesn’t show when the bus is on the move. It shows a map with a pin at our house but no routes. I can’t check to see where my child is before he gets to school or when he’s almost home. When you click on “scans” it’s a black screen with lines, only if you tap on one of the black rectangles does it pop up the time my child scanned on or off, otherwise it looks like a black screen.

Our district purchased this system a few years ago and I thought maybe it was just an early version but nothing has changed over the past four years. The developers should be embarrassed by the UI of VersatransMyStop as it could be so much better if they followed modern UI practices. This looks like a mainframe programmer designed it. I can’t believe we pay so much money for something so mediocre. I will encourage my district to find more modern solutions. Lack of geo location notifications, not reliable, not compatible with the display of iPhones unless you’re still on an iPhone 5 which was like what 6 or 7 years ago?

I have used VersatransMyStop for this service with fairly few problems for several years and then it stopped working. The bus garage told me to download the newest version of VersatransMyStop which I did which is this one. Ever since downloading it, every time I use it I have to uninstall VersatransMyStop and reinstall it because it gets hung up on the “refreshing“ page after you close it and then you open it for next time you are using it. VersatransMyStop has issues. Both the prior app and this one look and function like a sophomore entry-level technology class project done by 13 year olds. I find it crazy that this is the best there is for school systems to use to track their buses.

My district has been using this program for 2 years and it just keeps getting worse and slower! I constantly get kicked out of VersatransMyStop because the server is not connecting and when I do get to log in it takes so long to update the location of the bus that by the time it does update I have to refresh again. VersatransMyStop does not show the bus moving, only the location when you log in so I have to constantly close and reopen to see the bus location. I use VersatransMyStop for two students and I have to toggle between them because it only shows one bus at a time and it takes way too long to switch between children. I wish I could give 0 stars!

School district says "download VersatransMyStop, you'll be able to see where the bus is". Since our bus is never on time, I thought this was a great idea. Downloaded the thing and there are ZERO school districts available. I can't even start to use it. One more technology fail from our increasingly inept school district. It's a cool concept though, especially considering my poor kid has to sit on the bus for three hours a day because of a driver shortage 🙄

Updated: ok the school districts are there to choose. But they are in a black font on a black background. Really?? Do better

I’m pretty sure VersatransMyStop isn’t working as it’s supposed to. I can’t see the GPS...on the map view, our stop is marked with a pin, and the route is highlighted in green. Under that, it says the pick up time and that it’s scheduled to run on time. That’s it. I get nothing about the afternoon trip. Nothing else works...no scans, no notifications (although, I guess that’s a district issue). I’ve tried uninstalling and re-installing, and my IOS software is up to date.

For the first month or so of using VersatransMyStop it worked perfectly. Now it will only show the location of the bus when I open it and it no longer updates the location. I can’t track the bus anymore in other words. If I want to see where the bus is about a minute later, I have to close VersatransMyStop , wait 1-2 minutes and it MIGHT show the changed location of the bus from where it showed me a few minutes prior. It’s very frustrating. You basically get one shot at seeing where the bus is and good luck getting any further locations.

VersatransMyStop promises more than it delivers. The scan section is always blank. On the Map page, when the bus is between scans, it says that the bus is not running it’s scheduled route and lists the scheduled arrival time, despite clearly showing the icon for the bus on the route. When it does scan, it displays the address of the last scan and the projected actual time of pick up for a few seconds before reverting to “bus 11 is not running its scheduled route” and the time changes back to the scheduled time. With a bus that often runs early, this makes VersatransMyStop frustrating to use!

VersatransMyStop serves its purpose. I can see where the bus is. The major flaw is that you cannot link kids. So when you have multiple kids riding different buses, you have to log out and log back in with each child’s credentials. This is a major pain. Our district set everything up with student numbers. We have to pull data up in the computer to find the student numbers, then we have to log back into VersatransMyStop for the next child. Then everything repeats in the afternoon.
I hope this gets fixed soon or another company comes up with a better app where the kids can be linked!

VersatransMyStop works fine for location of the bus as long as the bus is the normal bus and not a reserve or alternate. I guess the school would have to change that. Also, you can only view one student. There is a box to select a student but no way to add another so you have to log out if your kids are at different schools. Likely an easy fix but doesn’t appear anyone is gonna do it. If I had to pay for this, I wouldn’t. I’m sure my taxes do.

I love VersatransMyStop, but that’s only because my kids prior school had no bus notification system so I was always waiting and watching out the window for his bus to come. This certainly is better as I can just watch the bus coming here from my phone and don’t have to stand in the cold for 20 minutes during the winter.

My biggest suggestion would be adding a notification once the bus is either a quarter mile to your location or right out front of your location. Sometimes morning are hectic (Momma of 3) and I can’t watch the bus on my phone and get them out the door. If a notification “dinged” on my phone I would know there were close or right out front. Is this something your could possibly add?

VersatransMyStop serves its purpose to let me see where the bus is. I understand that the county can decides to use other features that utilize notifications and our county must not Bc I literally only see where the bus is, and there is a slight delay in that.

My biggest complaint, is that having elem and middle schoolers, I can’t link them and see they while logged into the same account. So I take my 2 elem boys (log in for them) to the bus then have to log out and log in for my middle schooler to see his bus which comes next. Then repeat in the afternoon, which involves logging out first of middle schooler so I can log in for elem kids. Then switch again. Versatrans please fix this! Lots of parents complaining at our school about it. Lots of us have kids at more than one school, or most of us will at some point. In 2 yrs, I’ll have kids at 3 schools on 3 diff buses.

As far as basic operation though, VersatransMyStop serves its purpose and I can see where the bus is and it’s estimated arrival time. Was super helpful when the bus broke down once.

I would love to be able to let transportation know when my child will not be on the bus in the AM. I’m sure no one wants to make unnecessary stops when they don’t have to. Many children get picked up at their homes in the morning and it seems efficient to know if they weren’t planning on needing the bus. ALSO, it would be nice for the bus to know if we were planning on using the bus. If they are early then they would see I clicked we were coming to school today. Maybe like a “check in” button? 🤷🏻‍♀️
Also, it would feel nice for the employees to not have to rush at every stop... they think we wouldn’t need the bus just because we weren’t out there right as they pulled up..in the end not having experiences with waving down the bus...(Yes that happened..)

I do love being able to know when the bus is coming and this is such an amazing app..just hope y’all keep adding some other great features.

VersatransMyStop works perfectly for my elementary child, but for some reason it’s glitchy for my middle schooler’s. I can easily and quickly switch from one child to the other within the same login.

I am not sure if the problems I’m having with not being able to access info on my middle schooler is a software problem or maybe the bus’ hardware is faulty. Other than that, I really appreciate this resource! One suggestion to make it more interesting: change the arrow icon that represents bus arriving at bus stop to a pac-man symbol... imagine how funny that would be 😂 this was a joke in one of our school’s group and I really had to make a suggestion for that! 🙌🏻

VersatransMyStop serves it’s purpose for me. My biggest complaint or wish is that you could choose a default child from the drop down to start at. I have 4 kids and only one of them is eligible for the bus. I have to select and change to the kid I want to see every time I open VersatransMyStop . If I could choose a default start child, change order of the kids or hide the kids I don’t need to see that would be great

It lets me see where my child’s bus is!! It even has an approximate time of arrival but if a bus stop is skipped due to a sick child then that time is not accurate, but that doesn’t matter because I can actually SEE the bus and I know when it will be here.

Don’t expect it to be able to predict real world changes like accidents and sick students or those things, that’s impossible. Expect it to show you where your child’s bus is and you’ll be happy.

We did have some trouble getting it set up; but once again this was the schools fault and VersatransMyStop developers did everything required to get me going ASAP

In wondering if all of the low stars are due to the SCHOOL or the BUS COMPANY not configuring VersatransMyStop correctly. I've used VersatransMyStop for just over 3 years now. I have three kids in three schools and I just switch at the top of the screen with a drop down option. One login, multiple kids, multiple busses. If this isn't the case, contact your bus company. Something isn't setup right.

VersatransMyStop isn't always perfect, but it's a far cry from waiting in the MN winter while the bus is an hour late. Sub busses cause problems and sometimes a sub driver doesn't turn on the tracking.

Overall, this is nice.

While our school doesn’t seem to use all the features, like scanning on and off the bus, VersatransMyStop has been a big help. Especially one day when my son left his sports gear bag on the bus when coming home for a long weekend. After a few minutes of panic when he came in the door without it, I could pull up VersatransMyStop and see that his bus was now sitting at the neighborhood elementary school waiting for it’s next run. We drove over and met the bus (the driver was shocked that we’d found him!) and got the bag. VersatransMyStop saved the day!

The idea behind this application is brilliant and I was excited to give it a shot last year. While the information was useful and it did use VersatransMyStop every morning to track the bus, I could not believe how poorly VersatransMyStop is designed or how slowly it ran.

Somehow they managed to make it even worse this year. Just switching from one child to the other takes between 20-30 seconds to load.

Edit: it has likely been a year since I first wrote my review. This application continues to be the worst application for iPhone I have ever seen.

I like the idea is VersatransMyStop a lot but like many of the reviews, I agree that it needs tweaking to make VersatransMyStop less frustrating. VersatransMyStop is glitchy and sometimes does not refresh. The arrival time is often inaccurate but only by a few minutes, so we got used to it. Biggest frustration is having to log in and out to see the bus for our kids in different schools (districts). One household should be able to track the buses via one login.

My kids school just started to use the VersatransMyStop . There’s been bugs with the scanning but they seem to be fixing it. I’m enjoying VersatransMyStop so far but my only problem is that I have two kids riding the bus and can only see one child’s ride at a time. I need a way to be able to have both kids linked so when one stays home sick or when my son goes to middle school next year I don’t have to go back and forth between logins. Just need a way to link siblings under one login.

This is a great idea with poor execution if you have multiple children on different bus schedules. We have 3 different buses and times in our home and loving in and out and remembering all their login information early in the morning is more than a pain. This can’t be that difficult of a fix. Maybe we should all ask our schools who purchased this technology to require this update. I know I will!

So far, I like VersatransMyStop . My only issue with VersatransMyStop is that I have two children that go to two different schools and ride two different buses, so I have to log in and out of VersatransMyStop whenever I want to look at a different bus. The additional complication with this is I have to remember their IDs, instead of something easy like their name. . I would like to be able to toggle between two children using the drop-down menu at the top.
